11 months after getting out, none of my former JW "friends" want anything to do with me either.

I got an e-mail for a long-lost dub friend
by Mackin inthere is this woman i used to correspond with back in my dub days but lost contact with several years ago.
anyway just the other day she sent me an e-mail out of the blue.. she wanted to know if i was "in" or "out" as she was planning a trip to australia and if i was still "in" possibly we could meet (obviously i would have to travel to oz).
she had heard i wasn't going to the meetings any more.. i replied that i was definitely not "in" any longer but that i wasn't da'd or df'd and if she wanted to read my story i provided her a link to my story on this site.

Brainwashed [part 1]
by nicolaou inbrainwashed.
most of us are fortunate enough never to have experienced it but we may have read about persons who have been in the hands of foreign authorities where brainwashing is practiced on political suspects.
in this situation, the questioner is not merely given authority by prestige; he may also have the power to keep the tortured person in prison, to torture him, and perhaps end his life.

you sound like you just read Ray Franz's book or something.
Freedom of choice, if you don't like the religion, get out of it. Think positive thoughts, all of this negative energy must be tough to deal with.

Hey Funch, the last time we attended the Vet in the summer of 2001, we showed up at 10 AM, went out for breakfast, went to South Street, went to Wawa...anything to avoid sitting in the sun. As long as we were around at 5 to meet up w/ our friends afterwards, nobody questioned us!

I only the Syd Barret era Pink Floyd, I think Peter Gabriel era Genesis were easily Pink Floyd's match during the 70's!

The Two Towers
by Xander injust saw this.. great movie.
not as good as book, but about matches it roughly as good as fellowship matched the book.. gollum is class act - for those worried the little cgi creature wouldn't work, don't be!
he looks great - and the voice acting is dead one.. won't say too much, as spoilers might ruin it for some, but you really, really should see the extended edition dvd of the fellowship before seeing this movie.

The Towers veered too far from Tolkien's simple theme of the seductive nature of power.
I don't think so - this movie was about as true to the book as the first installment was. It did not end in the same spot as the book, but overall I thought it did a good job of presenting an literary masterpiece to the movie watching audience. The only scene I STRONGLY disliked was when Legolas uses his shield as a skateboard to go down the stairs and fight some orcs.

Which Watchtower teachings lack logic?
by sleepy inwhich watchtower teachings lack logic?.
i know you're all tempted to say all of them, but some beliefs if the facts were true, would be logical.. which ones that are supposed to be a logical consequence of a true fact are in fact not logical whether the fact is true or not?.
for an example of logical belief based on untrue or unprovable fact , if god created adam and all humans came from him,(supposed fact) he could pass on defects in his genes to all humans and we could all be "imperfect".this we could call logical.. a watchtower belief that lacks logic is for example jw's who go through armageddon or die and are ressurected to earth are not perfect but still have another test to go through, yet those who die and that go to heaven are perfect straight away and require no further testing.. so which teachings are based on beliefs that are not true and which ones are just not logical?

The bible says to keep obeserving the memorial of his death until he arrives, the WTS teaches that he arrived in 1914 (greek word parousia or something meaning presence, thereby justifying the "invisible arrival"), yet they continue to have the memorial every year.

NFL Playoffs: Week-By-Week Predictions
by Funchback inso, here are my first round playoff predictions (as if any of you care...lol!
colts 23, jets 15 (the jets had their super bowl vs. the packers).
packers 21, falcons 17 (i have a hunch that atlanta may pull the upset but you can't root against the pack at lambeau).

Eagles for the Super Bowl win...as long as McNabb or Detmer is the QB. That 3rd stringer finally looked like a 3rd stringer against the Giants.

JW's come knocking on Christmas
by DIM inwell, after 10 months, the jw's finally came knocking on my apartment - on christmas day!
in my head, i was going to debate with them, maybe even reason with them.....what actually happened is that for some reason, all of the emotional things inside of me came to the fore and i waited until they were leaving my apartment, i opened up my door, grabbed the tract, crumpled it into a ball, threw it at them and rattled off a string of profanities (which i won't repeat here, out of respect for simon's rules).
i was really mad at myself for doing this, but at the same time it provided an immense cartharsis for me.

We've been to a few Christmas parties, and I'm just really enjoying the holidays...what a change over the last year or so, i'm so glad to be out of the witnesses. I moved to WA from PA to start over, and everything has just gone great so far.
My name is Jason Adolf, formerly of the Willow Grove, PA congregation. I hope the elders are reading!
