But they've been told- go to any other JW site apart from the official WT site and God kills you at armageddon. If he's a troll he's a brave one.

Hello from a newbe
by thetruthwillsetyoufree inwell i've been meaning to search the web and see if there was anything on jw's for years.
and now i've gone and done it.. just wanted to share a thought from one of the last meetings i ever went to 10 years ago:.
the brother said:" if you are suffering in life now and you are doing jehovah's will, it is the devil thats trying to break you.if you are suffering in life now and you are not doing jehovahs will, then your suffering is only to be expected, if you wont listen to our loving father".

Help With Insomnia
by metatron ini frequently have insomnia - but have found some help in getting back to sleep.. first, stop talking to yourself in your head!
if you get up to go to the bathroom, don't allow any internal dialog.. second, try doing the "wave".
you pretend that a gentle wave is moving your body in bed.

I leave the TV on quietly to drown out my own thoughts. If I just can't sleep I'll get up and do something. I hate lying there trying to sleep.
Also, less coffee before bed!

has humanity the intelligence to transcend love?
by the dreamer dreaming ini suspect it is fairly rare for two people to fall "in love" with each other at the same time... it seems to me
that many males will fall in love with just about any female that vaguely says anything approaching yes to their advances
and that they are not nearly as descriminating as females as to who they will have sex with... i could be wrong of course ...

I see love as a really complicated issue. There's all different kinds of love and different reasons people like to be in love. My view on it has changed quite alot over the years. I don't see love as fancying someone immensely, wanting to be looked after, wanting company. I view 'true' love now as true care, where you would even die for that person if neccessary. But even with that, if I cared alot for someone and their actions showed they didn't care about me, my position would be forced to change.

Non-JW asks: Why do JWs allow drinking? But forbid Birthdays?
by whyizit inmy jw friend recently condemned birthdays using two scriptures that spoke of evil men killing people on their birthdays.
seems to me that the men were evil, not the birthdays.
today is my birthday.

What I believed growing up was that birthdays are primarily for children, so suck their fun and condemn everything else a child would enjoy in the process. The adults like a drink, so they'll allow that, because the adults make the rules.

Should Jehovah's Witnesses Be Allowed to Adopt Children?
by TMS inreligion, race, sexual orientation etc.
are not legal barriers to adoption in most areas.
but knowing what you know now, if you were part of the decision-making process, would you be inclined to facillitate jw's to adopt?

I have to agree with Carla. I wish it wasn't an issue. I wish the JWs would teach their children what they believe and then let them make up their own mind, but they don't. They keep forcing their beliefs for as long as the child lives with them, and if the child has a different viewpoint it's shut down immediately and the child is punished for having a mind. Through guilt, shunning, sometimes even physical punishment.
Whatever rights anyone has to adopt, compared to the child's wellbeing it's insignificant. It makes me mad thinking about the children being raised as JWs now, if I had the power to stop that happening I would certainly use it, no questions asked.

If it was God's punishment for leaving his organization, everyone here would be walking with a limp. Hell, my leg would probably drop off.

Voluntary answering at meetings
by ThomasCovenant inwatchtower august 1st 1953 page 458.
'hence starting with the congregational study of this issue of the magazine, the conductor may call on persons whether they volunteer or not'.
i never saw this happen at my meeting.

My dad never made it that high up in the ranks to conduct a meeting, so I had to make do with his seething expression from across the room, or a nudge in the arm, to get me to raise my arm and answer. That's the only pressure I had, nothing from the conductor.

Predicament and Question: An Ex's Friends
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? ini am not sure how to handle this and don't want to do something rude, or stupid, or both.
i was seeing this guy (non-jw) for a few months.
his friends are absolutely fabulous.

If you have to see his friends, do it where and when you know he won't be there. If the end of the relationship was heartbreaking for him, the people he needs now are his friends, he won't want you there too. It could even lead to him losing friends because he can't face seeing you at the same time. That doesn't mean he has to grow up, as some of the women here are saying, it could be a perfectly natural reaction to the pain he may have at losing you. If you were hurt by a guy would you want him hanging around your friends and still being a part (no matter how small) of your life?

Trevor:
I have just returned from a walking holiday in Wales UK. The beautiful old village of Crickhowell is surrounded by green hills and mountains which lead down to the river Usk. To me heaven is a place on earth.
Completely off topic here, but I went to school there!
