ok just got back from the dc in kansas city.
i know there has been a thread on the dc already but i will post "highlights" or lowlights depending on one's opinion, of the dc in kc on this thread.. 1) bethel speakers so far 1 from patterson bethel, 1 from brooklyn bethel and 1 from walkill bethel + governing body speaker anthony morris 111. friday major talk on christ on last talk by morris.
illustarted earthquake in armenia few yaers ago.
Yesterday, I talked to some jw friends of mine from KC, (they don't as of yet know much about my situation, I have only talked to them two or three times in the last year and a half), they claimed they "just got home", from the convention. Anyway, it really is the case that the r&f don't pay much attention to the drivel counsel about education. During the same phone call they made reference about preparing their son, (a HS senior), to go to KU. I really don't know how the dubs can sit through an entire weekend of that nonsense. It really used to make me sick when I was going.

mine are switzerland, germany, japan, sweden, and china.
The UK and the Netherlands come to mind...
found this interesting talk on e-watchman's site.
it was given by david splane, a gb member.. the talk is really interesting as it gives a more focused look at the troubles the society is facing as it trys to cope with education, peer pressure etc.. .

Geez, this is bad even by WT standards...

even as a kid i couldn't shake the feeling that the literature taught in negatives--- instead of advocating for a position, it seemed to be defending it and attacking.
an opposing position.
it seemed like they always had to beat up on something or someone to make their point..
Yes, the contrarian nature of the org pretty much started with Rutherford, and has continued since. A religion of non-beliefs.

just a fluffy question ~~~.
were you a freak?
jock?
I was pretty invisable in high school. I got along with everyone okay, just didn't get too close to anyone. Typical witness. A very liberal jw older friend of mine forced me to go to college against my "know it all" jw will. I thank him to this day. Unfortunately, it is me trying to be his voice of reason today, and he dosen't quite get it.

Welcome, Jen!

edited because someone came through with the picture and i think this deserves it's own topic.. i am deathly, i mean deathly afraid of snakes.
most people don't understand or grasp the exent i am afraid of them until they see the ultimate reaction.
my husband witnessed the worst one since we have been together the other week.
Actually, I thought all of the books back then looked pretty creepy. I believe the bible story book was the first attempt at using full color, so yes, the images were more graphic than most of the other books. But the two color printings of the other books actually seemed creepier to me, for some reason. I remember my father commenting on these, (a non-jw), saying they looked very amatuer.

after managing a successful fade, the long thread started by nvrgnbk made me think a bit.
up until then, i maintained a fairly hardline stance that the borg would need to d/f me if they really wanted me "out".
but then, i began to consider a few things.
Thanks, everyone for your replies and wishes of luck. I don't regret this decision one bit. I guess it's a little too early in the week to celebrate though...
what's the main motivating force behind the average jw?.
i'd say it's a fear of their own death.
fear of dying.
Fear.
