TEc is right,
My dentist will not touch bottled water.
the other day i was on the phone with my mother.
she lives about 20 minutes from the rest of the family.
she'll be 73 in november.
The first thing the elders will do is to contact you and your brother to take care of your mother, quoting scriptures that it's your responsibility first.
They are too busy knocking on doors, they could care less about orphans and widows.
No one will feed her and give her baths... we know better than that.
You are a good daughter.
this week, we had the co visit in our kingdom hall.
the greatest fun was: nobody could sing the new kingdom songs.
they just were humming the song.
Do not knock the new song book, everything from the FDS is directed and inspired by holy spirit! :)
i was browsing through the december 2010 awake, and noticed an article on the earthquake that happened in haiti earlier this year.
it didn't take long for the article to disturb me.
the third paragraph initiated the sanctimonious tone that is present througout the article.
Always did irritate me, constantly praising themselves for helping a few witnesses and mostly neglecting the rest
contrary to " worldly organization " that are there for anyone no matter what religion they belong.
" Worldly people" give billions of dollars to help out when they see a disaster............when was last time that the watchtower gave a dime
to help those outside the organization.
Jesus and his apostles had money or a purse to help the poor, not just his disciples.
my father in law visited us today full of the joys of spring... he was excited to declare that he has been doing security on the kingdom hall quick build.
he has been left alone in a portacabin / caravan on duty with a sister between the hours of 12 midnight until 6 am in the morning !!!.
i think it is disgusting that a 72 year old man is being used like this... how they can expect him to be of any good in seeing off teenage thugs is beyond me.
It's not slave labor, have you ever heard of volenteering for a cause you believe in ?
72 years old and 40, much better than 72 and 85!!! Good for him.

RUSSIA
Jehovah’s Witness gets two years in prison for possession of “extremist literature”
His crime was possessing Witnesses’ publications, deemed dangerous to public order even when strictly religious in nature. Russia wants to ban the religious group, despite European Court of Human Rights’ ruling that it should be recognised.
Moscow (AsiaNews/F18) – Alexander Kalistratov, chairman of the Gorno-altaisk chapter of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, was convicted for possession of “extremist” literature, and given a two-year prison sentence. The sentence is final, and Kalistratov’s only recourse is the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) where his lawyer filed on appeal arguing that his conviction was religiously motivated.
The original charges were laid after it was determined that he possessed copies of Jehovah’s Witnesses publications like Watchtower and Awake, whose opinions, according to the court, were “extremist” even if solely religious in nature. For this reason, local experts told the Forum 18 news agency that the court convicted him for his religious beliefs.
For Attorney Viktor Zhenkov, it is surprising that it took the court just three working days to rule on the matter even if the case includes 13 volumes of evidence.
Several appeals against the sentence were launched, but Altai Republic Prosecutor Vdobavok rejected them.
For a number of years, Russian authorities have been persecuting the Jehovah’s Witnesses. For example, instead of accepting a decision by the European Court of Human Rights, which on 10 June 2010 ruled that Russia’s ban on the Witnesses was unlawful, the Russian government appealed on 9 September against the decision to the Grand Chamber of the ECHR. This will delay the enforcement of the ECHR sentence and worsen an already tense situation in Russia. Similarly, on 8 December 2009, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation ruled that the publications of the Jehovah’s Witnesses were “extremist.”
Members of the religious groups are often victims of physical violence, assaults and arbitrary arrests and their places of worship have been attacked and set on fire.

so far i've managed to avoid speaking to the elders who drop by.
just wondering if they'll eventually give up in a couple years.
anyone have experience with this?.
Four years and no problem living in the town!
i was catching up on news with a friend of mine from my old hall - a few of the elders have stepped down and some have retired.. these are men who were in their 30's during the 1980's when i was very young - now they are retiring or facing retirement.. i sometimes wonder how they feel after working all those years only to wake up and realize that their working lives are over.. do they ask themselves: what's happened?
where's armaggedon?
the day of reckoning has come - the elders who were 30 in 1980 are now 60 years old.
It struck me how "bad" they looked. Not just older and heavier, but something about them didn't look good. They didn't look healthy. They looked tired, stressed and out of shape. It was a bit of a blow to see how much they had aged since I had last seen them.
They have no time to exercise, to join a gym and take care of themselves since everything outside the congregation is a waste of time.
Do not worry if you're 100lbs overweight........."new system will fix everything, you will wake up one morning and you will look young and beautiful"
the longer away from "the truth", the easier it is to see that i was in a "cult"..
It's very clear now........ when you look back and would die or let your kids die due to "no blood policy"
and allowing some crazy old men out of Brooklyn to control your life!!!!
It took 32 years to finally put the pieces together that the Watchtower is a cult.
