Hey crankey

Just curious
so i recently started dating a friend of a friend's sister.
now, i wasn't really interested in her romantically, but i was single and she's ok company.
so last sunday she came over my house for the first time.

i've always tried to teach my kids to follow aesop's fable of the 'sun and the wind', i.e.
try the gentle persuasion method for achieving your goals rather than head on aggression.
however as with most things in life there is a time and place for both.
It totally depends upon the individual. Many "faders" have family in the org. For many people, to disassociate would mean to lose their entire family. In this case, no; it would not be better. There are some circumstances that are very complex; and which contain no simple solution.
Sometimes you can do much good by staying on the inside and planting seeds of doubts here and there.
Very few JW's know anything about the Watchtower involvement in the UN, when i met with the elders about my"apostasy" they were shocked when i mentioned it.
maybe they went home and investigated themselves.
Malawi/Mexico policy, child abuse and we could go on and on, very few on the inside ever stop and give any thoughts to these issues, they worship the Watchtower and can do no wrong but at times we can open somebodies eyes about the "truth"
My point is to each his own and should not be judged.
have you ever seen a congregation not raise enough hands to make a resolution pass?
I remember before the hands went up a sister kept asking way too many questions about the resolution( on top of that her husband was an elder) the resolution passed but
after that her reputation went down the toilet. Independent thinking and not showing submission
just an fyi for anyone interested - there is a major drive on to push the bill forward for national healthcare in the usa.
you can sign the petition by going to http://www.onecarenow.org/.. it has gone through one part of the process last year and now the push is on to get it moved to the next level - it is backed by over 400 groups including the uaw i believe.
it is no longer if it happens, it is only a matter of time as to when it happens.
The rest of the world already has it.
We in the US spent four times as much on health care yet we are way on the bottom of the list when it comes to life expectancy.
For those that claim that national health care in other countries is not as good as what we have in the US, well Canada, and the rest of Europe are living longer than we are so they must be doing something right.
Insurance company and all those making money on health care are too powerful, they will never aloow it
lets say a brother or sister loses their job, falls on welfare, doesn't have enough to eat.
what do the elders do?
a) tell them that the organization is not a place to beg but to preach, to give and not to receive.
Very often among the evangelical churches, if they see a need they are there to assist even paying your rent or mortgage until you get on your feet.
Of course their members give much more because they beleive in titheing at least 10% of their gross income.
lets say a brother or sister loses their job, falls on welfare, doesn't have enough to eat.
what do the elders do?

When there was a true need, the body of elders took a collection among themselves and MS and tried to help.
how far has their preaching gone exactly, how much "earth" is left to cover, they keep claiming here in the uk that they haven't "invaded china yet" but i know differently.
if they have covered the earth how long has it been ??.
anyone who has a little of knowledge of this i would appreciate how many years they have been preaching worldwide "literally".
If they truly had faith in Jehovah and that he is backing their work, why don't they send every available missionary and pioneers in lands where the good news has not been heard, such as 2/3 of the earth? Middle East, Asia and let Jehovah handle it.
We know that the GB realizes it would not only be dangerous to send witnesses there but also they would be wasting their time trying to preach to them, so really
Do they truly trust their God Jehovah?
the thread about got me thinking about my very early childhood, back when witnesses were allowed to be social and have get togethers.
they also had a piano in every congregation i ever attended, and an older sister would always play the kingdom melody.
there was actual singing - not mindless droning and humming.
Still have the 100 year old piano in my living room that was used in KH.
It's up for sale, anyone interested?
i feel like there are now 3 persons in my marriage-me, my mate and the watchtower society.
we used to think alike on most things.
but now every coversation ends in an argument.

Very simple when you truly beleive it is god's organization and you will die if you don't beleive, a person will do the most stupid thing and they will do it with a clean consciense since they feel they have god's blessing and the approval of the organ.
Remember people kill or get killed for their faith
i've been reading this board regularly since it was introduced to me in march of this year.
at first, i was finding it pretty difficult coming to terms with the fact that my whole life had been a lie, but really, i suppose there's not much point in worrying about this now, what's done is done, and i'm still easily young enough to make a life in 'the world' despite a slow start.
the problem is that i have no idea how to go about.
Take it slow and follow some of the good counsel on this board you received but like everyone us it will tough since you found out about the "truth"
The sooner you work on it the better you'll be.
Just be thankful you are only 20 years old and you still have the rest of your life ahead of you.
