Welcome Keeli! Nice to see another Oregonian on the boards. This is really a great place to come and vent or get sympathy (maybe on a day when you need a "poor baby" or two) or have obscure jw questions answered. But be careful, you may find yourself spending WAY too much time here ;).
Btw--how long were you in for? I was in from birth to age 23
Peace,
Bethany

Do You REALLY Believe That A Pedophile Issue Will Bring Down The Watchtower
by minimus ini see the excitement and thrill when a jw gets nailed for pedophilia.
i'm happy when any of these creeps get caught.
but i just don't think that this is what will bring down the organization.

How did you feel the first few meetings you missed?
by Mysterious infor those of you that regularly went and never stayed home sick, etc.
how did it feel when you first started staying home from meetings?
was it weird watching shows on tv you always missed, or not having to worry about rushing dinner to make it on time.

I felt guilty at first, but then I realized how much more TIME I had and how much relaxed I was on the way home from work, knowing that I didn't have to hurry and change to get ready for meeting.
LOL at Blondie for knowing tonight is not a meeting night. :)

What Are "Unfair" Things JWs Made You Do?
by minimus ini was thinking how unnatural it is for most people to knock on stranger's doors and tell them that if they don't respond to what they were trying to get across, that they were going to be killed by god.
.....then there's the obligation to join the theocratic ministry school and go on a platform and give talks---even if you had a phobia!
.....or you're made to feel that you must answer at the meetings even if you're extremely shy.....are there other things that you can think of that made you totally uncomfortable?

Being 17 years old and sitting in front of three old perverts and being told that I HAD to answer explicit questions about a sexual experience. And, oh yeah, these questions were asked with my FATHER in the room (nice. And people wonder why I think I need therapy).
Being told that my Dad couldn't be an elder because I wasn't in good standing--even though I didn't live with my parents at the time.
FIELD SERVICE!!!!!! My friends and I used to "air" knock on most of the doors in neighborhood. -

Got the call today
by LennyinBluemont inwell, after fading for 5 1/2 years, keeping a low profile, hoping to keep the lines of communication open with the ones we loved for the last three decades, i got the phone call today.
they let me know it was two elders on the phone and they needed to talk with me about a judicial matter in that some serious accusations were made against me.. background: in march of 2005 i was contacted via email by a "sister" we have known for 25 years who we have always felt very close to.
i'll call her julie, because that's her real name.

"So now they may just make their decision without our cooperation. (They asked to meet with my wife as well.)"
This is going to sound like a stupid, naive question (and I don't want to hijack the thread), but can those f***ers df somebody without meeting with the intended victim?
Anyway, I am appalled and sickened by your whole situation. So, is this "friend", this "sister" that betrayed now guaranteed some special privilege in the congregation for being a narc? Oh, wait, she's a chic, she can't HAVE any special privileges.
GRRRRR

They finally made it to my door
by Fatfreek inan suv full of jw's pulled into my country home driveway and a woman and her pre-teen son came to the door.
i greeted them with a warm smile, wondering to myself if they knew who i was.
i doubt they did as they presented me with the single sheet invitation to the little rock district assembly to be held july 14-16. .

Fats, I really like what you said to the people who came to your door. I have often wondered what I would say if/when they ever come to my door. Guess it will depend upon what sort of mood I am in. BTW--I received an invite to the DC here in Portland, and after all the posts about the chat room resolution, I may go to lurk about some. :) Bee
