What's your name for 'Watchtower Speak'?
by sweet pea inhaving put some distance in between us and the wts, i can't read any of the society's publications without feeling extremely uncomfortable and irritated by the tone and language that the society uses.
it all sounds the same - patronising, guilt-inducing, condescending, intellectually unchallenging, etc.
as far as i'm aware the term is 'watchtower speak'.

I did it! and it's your fault
by Hortensia ini went to the grocery store today - no that's not your fault.. it's 103 degrees today, not bad.
there were three people sitting in the shade in front of the grocery store.
there was a middle aged woman, an older man in a wheelchair, and a thin man whose frozen smile screams "elder.

Did this line of thought ever cross your mind?
by Awakened07 inok - first i should mention that this line of *hypothetical* thought may seem extreme, and it's obviously exaggerated to get a point across.
but it's just one of many, many logical constructs i had in my mind, even when i was still active:.
let's say we have a pioneer sister.

Does Someone's Religion Matter To You?
by minimus indo you care if tom cruise is a scientologist?
or that mitt romney is a mormon?
or that a person is either a very devout muslim or a card carrying communist?

How Much and for How Long Did You Love Being In The 'Truth'?
by sweet pea inreading tijkmoo's original post about his experience (well worth a read all you newbies...) it made me think back to my experience of being a witness.
up until 4 months ago i had spent my whole life loving being a witness (apart from twinges of discontent when a young girl being left out of attending friends birthday parties) and was a faithful sister who pioneered when possible and was a member of the quickbuild team in my single days.
i felt it was the truth and there was no where else to go.

I was in from age 4 until age 25. I was a pioneer, in bethel, and an elder. I moved to 'where the need was greater". I can honestly say, I never was in love with the "truth".
There was always something in the back of my mind that bothered me.
Now, I know what that was.....it was a lie.

last day
by BlackSwan of Memphis inwas today.. he's more upset then he thought he would be.. after nearly 30 years with a company and they just say "see ya".
they've let around 50 people go so far and there are more terminations to come.. we've been scouring the various websites (career builder, monster etc) and the local papers and out of state papers....... ..... just nothin much out there.... thinking out loud tonight he mentioned canada.
not my first choice, only because i'm not a fan of winter to begin with, going more north is not something i'm completely in love with, but at this point.........anywhere he can get a job that pays decently.. he's going to take a test for the postal service.

I think I owe the board an apology
by LaniB inyes it's past midnight and i'm getting melancholy and starting to rehash my life of late.
melancholy yes, but i haven't hit the bottle yet so its not alcoholly.
seriously though, i thought i'd offer an apology.

No need to appologize. This is a place where we can vent, ask for advice, and/or give it. No real rules. Just continue to be the person you are, and that will be cool with all of us.
