As a jw i was always taught "you must go on the ministry" ( taught as a "command" of Jesus to be applied to everyone - or you wouldnt be doing Gods will and therefore He could not be pleased with you ) and many other things, "do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together etc" as an example you must get to the meetings or you are inactive in Gods eyes.
However after reading Jesus words basically saying accept Jesus as Gods son and love your neighbour, i began wondering more and more whether the ministry is a necessity for many people. I Personally never minded the ministry except when i found i was spreading mans deception and lies.
1 John 3:23 states "Now this is his command; That we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another as he commanded us.24 the one who keeps His commands remains in him. And He in him.And the way we know that He remains in us is from the spirit He has given us.
These small scriptures seem to completely destroy the Jw's theory of what good works are, and what is needed to remain in Christ Jesus.

Do JW'S need James 1:5
by Ade ini was reading james a minute ago and wondered whether this verse is needed for the average jw's, after all how can they be lacking in wisdom when gods anointed are leading them ??
i know this probably seems harsh but hopefully you can grasp what i mean, when you have all the "so called" knowledge of god and interpreting the scriptures why would any of them need to ask god for wisdom that he's already given them ??
maybe i'm having an unreasonable moment here folks.

James 1:5 So, if any one of YOU is lacking in wisdom, let him keep on asking God, for he gives generously to all and without reproaching; and it will be given him.

Jw's can never be happy - Reason: No matter how much they do they can never feel acceptable to God, never quite feel like their doing enough.Did God want them to feel like this , I doubt it. But what a great way for the brainwashing from the top to continue along its path !!!!!!!!!!!
Hence the amount of depressed brothers and sisters.
The only happy ones are the ones about to leave !! -

The GB, jehovah and correcting grevious errors
by greendawn inwhat do you think about the doctrine of the gb which maintains that it is no one's business to meddle in the way they run god's org (in fact their org) because god himself will put things right in his due time?.
isn't that a disgusting excuse to let them carry on abusing the r&f with false knowledge?
just think of it there are many errors many r&f are pointing them out and god is sitting there mysteriously ignoring the errors and as if by a whim he will at some time later decide to direct the gb to correct these errors.

Hi Drew,
you wrote:And this is the biggest point to take from their religion. They follow a pre-christian example of what it means for follow God, so they must follow men. Their religion has allways been about following a particuliar individual or group of individuals exercising authority from one source. The JW dosn't know how to serve God without a human authority over them.
Exactly, upon questioning one brother as to why the bible states nowhere that we need to be members of a cult/religion to be acceptable to God, but Jesus said just have faith in him and be saved, along with loving your neighbour and God,the brother replied to me , "There's no way it can be that simple - it just cant be ". I could tell he wasnt going to listen, as they feel without all the complexity added to their worship it cant be acceptable.
The laws were removed by Jesus, they were the complex part of following God , to point out to Israel that God was needed that they were not righteous, To show the imperfections of men. The JW'S are still trying to live by these laws and others laid down by men. It's a disturbing situation that they are allowing men to overide what Jesus did for them.
All the best
God bless you all

Aftermath of DA letter-what to expect?
by exwitless ini already posted this question in the middle of my previous topic, but i think i buried my question there.
i would like to hear some more experiences from those who da'd themselves regarding the immediate "aftermath" (specifically with the elders).
neither my husband nor i have any jw family.

Expect nothing my friend ,
which is what you have always received from them and always will, except now you dont have to stress yourself not feeling good enough because you havent done enough hours etc.expect to start seeing your bible for what it truly says, that we sad humans could never please God when we were trying to please hime through underlining our watchtowers, knocking peoples doors and annoying them, and listening to others mens opinion of what the bible means rather than using the free will God lovingly gave you.
I suppose at times if you see friends you had in the truth you will miss them, however this tends to pass after they have treated you as though you are dead for a few months.
If you dont get a reply go and ask them if they received your letter, thats why i went in and handed it personally to two elders, who then tried to "correct my thinking" after seeing they were engaged in an unwinnable game they said goodbye. None have spoken since.
Has God left me ??
I read my bible more than i ever did when i went to their "holy gatherings", i am calmer than ever as regards getting irate etc. And i now see the true identity of Jesus and his role in saving us.
God bless you and yours i truly hope it goes well for you .

Class-Questions for JW's
by Emma ina woman i work with is going to a class at her church on how to talk to jw's.
i told her one question to ask when they come knocking is if jesus is their mediator since most dubs don't know he isn't according to their own teachings.. any other simple questions one might ask?.

Hi,
The help you are seeking can be found by searching previous posts, however one of the greatest easily ( i feel ) proven points is to do with the beginnings of the "truth" itself.
Ask them why when Jesus states "he will be with us until the end of the age ( system of things )" that the so called truth only began when Charles Tazes Russell appeared on the scene ?? They may answer by saying " ahh but the truth was passed through other religions and groups along the way" say to them , " oh i see , so the religions/cults who worshipped the trinity, crosses and believed in hellfire were actually the truth"
Then also ask them that if the truth was "passed on through religions" why Charles taze russell said his information came only from angels and not from any religious group at all.
with this simple approach you show them up to be what they are , misguided and sad people living under the law of their oppressors ( the GB ).
Hope this helps a little
God bless you and yours

Are "Apostates" jumping the gun with their info on the WT to make a case?
by booker-t ini take some of the things apostates say with a "grain of salt" because many times i think they embellish the truth to make the wt look bad to make their case.
for example i have for years heard that the wt uses "satanic" images in their artwork but i have yet to see any proof of these accusations.
i have heard that jw's no longer practice "disfellowshipping" but my teenage niece was recently "disfellowshipped".

I agree that many of the so called apostates become bitter against the org and some even create fanciful stories of certain happenings within the org in an attempt to bring shame upon it.
However the organization's changes in doctrine over the years have proven their truths cannot be truths, for indeed truths cannot and are not subject to change. So regardless of the inventiveness of a few over imaginative minds ( apostates ) the witnesses guided by their imaginary heavenly class and "board of directors" are still misguided abusers of bible pricinples and have exposed theirselves as such.
Hencefoth the U.N etc matters not, for evil is as evil does
My plan is leave them to it, show those who will discuss the bible with you the truths from it, showing why people such as witnessess who are living by laws and doctrines of men cannot be right and have not fully accepted the grace and love by which we are to be saved.
God bless you and yours -Ade -

Hi,
Ive read them all ( literally )
some of the more humorous ones tell you Leviathan is a steam train , God lives on a star , black people are an accident and not as good as whites, all of which can be dragged up to show witnesses what a complete load of tat there religion comes from. 1914 ( from ctr meauring pyramid corridors ) you can go on and on.
The strange thing is when i was really into the "truth" i lappe dup these books thinking wow this os really inspired, inevitably though these very books led me to understand and see the way in which the "light" has shone brighter and then dimmed then gone brighter again etc.
get the finished mystery if you want a good laugh - its better than most joke books
all the best
God bless you and yours
