Sinis,
i agree , and too many things point to the fact they are an image of one another, however not the same being. sayings like "let your will be done" would surely be rendered "let my will be done" if Jesus was the Almighty.

Hi Sinis,
i appreciate your thoughts although i do not necessarily agree with them, after reading this portion of scripture more carefully it seems to cover in 17:10 that all Gods things are Jesus's and vice versa, placing them on an equal plane. which is hard for me to accept as ive never believed in a trinity type scenario
then there is also as Narkissos rightfully pointed out 17:11 " protect them in YOUR name that you have GIVEN ME"
Which again seems to indicate that Jesus has been given/has GODS name.
again pointing to the fact they are literally one and the same.
This is a difficulty for me as i stated i have never believed in a trinity, or is that is whats being stated here.
God bless you all

Hi Sinis,
I appreciate your answer but it doesnt really answer the question my friend, i want to know if Jesus named anyone. I'd be interested in your answer as to who is the True God though .

John 17:6 "I have manifested thy name unto men which thou gavest me out of the world. thine they were, and thou gavest them me, and they have kept thy word."
On'-om-ah
Onoma : A "NAME" ( literally or figuratively ),( authority / character ) -called (sur)name
what does each belive Jesus is saying here is it that;
A) he gave them the name of God as in the name YHWH /YahWeh / Jehovah
B) he gave them the character of God with his example.
I'm not sure but i would think the Jw's use this to show that Jesus in fact revealed the name ( Jehovah ) to the disciples for use. however this would seem to contradict the fact that we dont find the name in the New Testament ( depending on the sourced bible )

Go to story 86 "men guided by a star"
paragraph two of the story reads so "When the men got to Jerusalem, they asked; where is the child to be king of the Jews? "Jews" is another name for Israelites."We first saw the childs star when we were in the East," the men Said "and we have come to WORSHIP him"
oops did they mean "do obeisance to him" how naughty to miss that one.
God bless you all

How many commands should we follow??
by Ade inas a jw i was always taught "you must go on the ministry" ( taught as a "command" of jesus to be applied to everyone - or you wouldnt be doing gods will and therefore he could not be pleased with you ) and many other things, "do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together etc" as an example you must get to the meetings or you are inactive in gods eyes.
however after reading jesus words basically saying accept jesus as gods son and love your neighbour, i began wondering more and more whether the ministry is a necessity for many people.
i personally never minded the ministry except when i found i was spreading mans deception and lies.

Hi,
Yes I like to live by that, but not commanded by it, you follow what I;m saying?
You seem to nullify your own thoughts here because Jesus was stating here that you should love God and your neighbour saying these were the greatest commands, YOU are NOT being commanded this because along with these commands was given free will to follow or not to follow God, therefore you are putting forth an invalid argument. You cannot be commanded if you do not have to be commanded, Christ is not holding you captive to commands, you hold yourself captive to the commands if you love him and God.
Therefore if you like to live by the commands what is the difference, you obviously agree with the command my friend.

Do JW'S need James 1:5
by Ade ini was reading james a minute ago and wondered whether this verse is needed for the average jw's, after all how can they be lacking in wisdom when gods anointed are leading them ??
i know this probably seems harsh but hopefully you can grasp what i mean, when you have all the "so called" knowledge of god and interpreting the scriptures why would any of them need to ask god for wisdom that he's already given them ??
maybe i'm having an unreasonable moment here folks.

Hi Berean2 and Gold Morning,
Thank you for the agreement in certain aspects, its nice you have come along with an open mind Berean2, after all so long in the "truth" and then leaving often leaves a bitter taste in the mouth and a willingness to put forth hatred towards it in all respects. This is definatley not my purpose, as you say there are genuine people therein who wish only to serve God.As stated by yourself these people believe their "works" will bring favour/salvation from God.We are clearly taught God shares equally amongst all good and bad and to believe we are more acceptable to God at this time for any works, would in my mind be accusing God of favouritsm ( something we are warned against ), in essence God needs no "Help" from us. The light shone its brightest upon Jesus arrival, and then sacrifice, we have been given all we need within the bible to add to this saying we have a "special knowledge" is great presumptuousness.
concerning mans religions i believe, they, all being the product of Man believing they cannot attain Gods blessings without being formally organized in a "religion" however thats another discussion that has been covered but stimulating conversation and viewpoints always come of it.
Gold Morning, many thanks for your comment
God bless you and yours -Ade -

Hi,
Berean 2 and welcome ,
Yes the mark of wisdom is classed as application of knowledge, which again raises the question from our point of view, if indeed they have the God given knowledge and are the "truth" then the application of knowledge - wisdom should be an obvious and natural proggresion as they have "God given wisdom" so essentially R&F are as guilty as GB / FDS.
because of the stance on following the FDS/GB concerning the infalibility of their teachings ( even though they wont admit it ) the R&F become as guilty for then they are being led "hither and tither by the doctrines of men" without using the intellect God gave them to discern truth from falsehood
from my standpoint all remain guilty , of deception or ignorance, neither trait will be tolerated by Jesus Christ
All the best
