I have an interest in Apochryphal writings and would appreciate the thoughts of others who have read them and which ones you hold as inspired and that you personally would see in the bible.

Made up ideas by "the Society"
by Anomalous One in.
interestingly enough, the homepage of www.watchtower.org has the gall post a link ripping the trinity because, if true, "it should be clearly and consistently presented in the bible.
guess they don't like anyone infringing on their rights to create.

Ive come to the following conclusion;
1) The bible has been tampered with by idiot men.
2) The JW'S are blind to everything everyone says except the FDSC
3) We wont understand many things from the bible which are beyond our feeble minds
4) As Jesus said - we will be saved by Faith and Grace, nothing else.
5) If the JW'S had the true faith , they wouldnt have changed so many verses of the bible to support their doctrines.
6) The trinity things doesnt matter in the slightest, and men arguing over such things is exactly what the bible says not to get involved in "be not ye led hither and thither by the doctrines of men"
7) people either believe or don't - ramming our own personal so called truth down people throats especially by knocking on their doors at unearthly hours on Sunday morning , is definatley no showing love or understanding.

Zephaniah 2:2,3
"all ye meek of the earth", as regards Israel, in those days Ethiopia/Egypt was the "ends of the earth" and infinite ( Nahum 3:9 )
verse 3: 11 there also follows a picture of a purified Israel, which points only to Israel "thy doings where thy has transgressed against me " how could we have transgressed against God when we had no agreement with him ??
verse 3:12 "i will leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people" - please ask them to explain how the WTBTS is "afflicted and poor " ??
The book of Zephaniah ends with a picture of the redeemed people with presence of Jehovah in their midst - AT THAT TIME 3:14-20
"I will make you a name and a praise among all the people of the earth" again end of the earth = Ethiopia/Egypt, and there is no reason i can see to use these verses prophetically as God is speaking of bringing them back from their captivity and being with a new remnant FROM that time, not some mysterious date only known to a few mentally deranged people with calculators who sit trying to calculate christs return from pyramid tunnel lengths.
Again to my mind a complete misrepresentation of scripture to support a load of old man made fantasy , i hope someone tries to offer me one of these tracts i'll swiftly give them an apostate lecture .
God bless you all

Why JW's know so much about the Bible
by Honesty ina jw explains how their group can tell jesus returned 'invisibly' on another discussion board:you are right that you would probably need to be one of jehovah's witnesses to see all the things that we see.
jehovah's witnesses study the bible in ways that a lot of other people don't.
we dig into it, read it, understand and see meaning in scriptures that for a lot of people don't make much sense.. .

Just before i DSA'd myself , i spoke to a sister who is in her 90's. ( she still speaks to me lol ).
i said i was leaving because i had been reading the bible, she replied to me "Yes Adrian thats something we dont do enough of here"
i think that statement coming from someone whos been a witness for over 80 years says it all.

Hi Mojo,
point taken , and ive been more than jabbed at before lol , i agree "man" has had his mucky hands in the bible, i enjoyed the book "misquoting Jesus" by Ehrman , explaining in a simplistic fashion textual critiscm and adjustments made by man to the bible.I also love the bible and have a deep belief in God .At the end of the day for me, I dont profess to know everything/anything i just let my faith ( not men )guide me. the only way any of us will know whats what is when we leave this life behind and SEE what is what.
God bless you and yours

This allowed Moses ( who was constantly in communication with God ) to present the commandments with some modification and updating of the situation in light of their pending entrance into the land of Canaan, Oh, that explains it. Sounds like something I would hear from the FDS regarding changing doctrine. interstingly no you wouldnt hear this from the FDS , because there was no "change of doctrine" and no commandment re-written / designed that conflicted with the other commandments. its fine for us to comment, but not without reading fully and acknowledging that upon which we comment. all the best -Ade
