I don't go to church since I left the borg, but I have spoken to a lot of people who love going to church every Sunday because it just makes them feel good.
What's strange about the witnesses is, I never once felt that way about going to the kingdom hall.....I always dreaded going, and stuff like this is why! Gymbob
sorry to put it that harshly.
i posted previously that i wrote my parents a heart-felt letter, an after-months-of-fighting-letter, my dad responded, i wrote back 2 times and he didn't respond for 2 and a half weeks.
so yesterday, i called him to ask if he got my last two emails and he was short with me and nervous and wierd, i don't know why i expected different.. today he called back to say how sorry he was for being short and nervous and wierd, that he was up all night because he was rude and he knew it, his words.

So much stupidity, so little time....
I had my "priviledges" taken away because I let my 2 kids play school sports (Volleyball and Cross-Country running, you know the real BAD ones!) so they gave my so-called privileges to a mentally handicapped guy in the congregation!
So then when I write Brooklyn about the matter I get a 2 page letter back saying they really don't like school sports, but there's no scriptural reason why I couldn't have my priviledges in the congregation. So when the elders came over to our house asking if I was ready to take my kids off the team and have my priviledges back, I showed them the letter......The damn elders refused to read it! I told them, "It's not from Sports Illustrated you know, this is from The Faithful & Discreet Slave!"
And THAT was the beginning of my questioning. Other things followed, but the school sports thing showed me just how stupid that religion can be.....
Oh and the beard thing! A few years ago I grew a beard and had my priviledges removed for that too! And who did they give my assignments to? The only JW guy in the central valley with a beard! He had it for medical reasons.....GYMBB
Ted Jaracz and Al Shrouder were my Bethel entrants school instructor back in 76'. For those of you who don't know, this is a series of classes that were required for new boys at The Big House.
I don't really remember that much about the classes (hey, it was a long time ago) but I do remember Jaracz being pretty boring and by-the-book.
The other thing I remember about those classes was Shrouder always calling Jehoover, "The great______". For example, if we were talking about how wonderfully made the human body was he would call Jehoover, "The great Physician", or something stupid like that. "The Great Builder", "The Great Designer", etc. For a few years after that I started to notice this in the magazines and just figured it was an article Shrouder wrote.....Gymbob

i grew up as a jehovah's witness.
my mother was uneducated and so we moved every 2-4 years as she tried to find stable enough work to support a child so ive attended many kingdom halls and have known many witnesses and many elders.
i've never gone back to the witness organization and never will.

I personally don't post here much anymore, after spending most of my life as a JW I left the cult 5 years ago with the help of some of the people on this forum and have moved on.
When I did decided not to be a part of the witness lifestyle anymore (fade away), my wife of 23 years filed for divorce, my parents refused to talk to me, and every lifelong friend I had disowned me. To this day, my parents have 2 great-grandchildren they have never met.
What I'm trying to say is, I don't think you realize how many people this religion has hurt, and how helpful a place like this can be to someone hurting.
I don't post here much anymore because I've moved on. I finally pulled my head out of my ass and am getting an education (no thanks to the WT org) and there are a ton of others who have done the same thing as me, so don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining. You don't know what your talking about.
