yes, i know, the title is a pun.
it was deliberate.. i can recall in the 1970s seeing very few overweight jws.
in fact, i used to think (in my arrogant jw manner) that this was a sign of how jws were better at self-control than worldly people.

do they still use counsel slips for the theocratic ministry school?.
i think the three "grades" were .
g = good .
Good memory..
I despised the ministry school. I always wanted to be the householder that slammed the door on stage!
I think one of the things was NI - needs improvement, which was almost on every slip. I don't think anyone ever received a perfect score.
Do ya remember the timers on the talks???? And if someone went over it went ding and they looked all flustered and embarrassed? NI on timing, for sure.
Glad I'm not there!!
just got back from my grandmother's where i casually brought up the un thing, asking what the society has to say.. of course, she didn't know anything about it, but when i filled her in, albeit briefly, she burst out that it couldn't be true, the internet lies, etc.
when i pointed out to her that the wts was on the un list, she immediately said that "someone must have added it, an apostate.
" she asked if i could get a copy of it and she would present it to the elders.
Hi All,
Just got back from my grandmother's where I casually brought up the UN thing, asking what the Society has to say.
Of course, she didn't know anything about it, but when I filled her in, albeit briefly, she burst out that it couldn't be true, the internet lies, etc. When I pointed out to her that the WTS was on the UN list, she immediately said that "someone must have added it, an apostate." She asked if I could get a copy of it and she would present it to the elders. We know what will happen there.
What I want to know is there ANY way we can prove this, i.e., signatures, etc? I know that even though we present the proof, it will be passed off as an internet apostate thing.
If there were perhaps a signature or affadavit or something signed by someone from the GB stating their cooperation with the UN, it would be harder to deny.
I am really getting frustrated by the WTS constant lies!!
Any suggestions?

from wol:.
"someone from gc sent this e-mail to me.
it is a very nice and encouraging experience.. hi everyone, .
I read that and wanted to gag..as usual, the JWs are "on the scene" at yet another disaster, or so they say. I remember similar articles a while back after the tragic earthquake in Japan....seemed like the JWs saved the day there too! GAG!!!
Funny, how they always get such a good reception at these hearsay things, while the rest of the world just slams the door in their faces....

Bridgette,
Can you do my horoscope?

do you remember those truly wonderful occasions when the meeting was in full swing, and something/one would make you laugh uncontrollably............so much so that you had to go out.
(and yes, your were sat on the front row!
you would go out and feel terribly guilty, and when you thought you were under control, you would venture back in only to find that the air was still full of laughter (on your row)..............truly wonderful meetings!!
Cassiline,
That same scenario happened in my hall several years ago. You didn't by any change attend a KH in Northen New Jersey??
Just curious, as I remember the incident well and my sister and I couldn't stop laughing!!!
due to the fact that god almighty jehovah,.
is displeased over the "divisiveness" of this once very.
worthy publication, and also that the "oversight" is as.
I'm with Wiltshire....what are you trying to say
PS - Love the cheese danish thing..I remember them well. Also the Shasta soda???
well, i just received a letter from my mom and i dont know how to describe my feelings at this time.
i thought id share parts of it with you and see what yall think.
i will delete names and add my own words in parenthesis to describe whom shes talking about.. after a few lines of small talk she says this..........i do want to tell you, since (you and your husband) have rejected the truth, i am so glad (your son) is not old enough to join or be drafted into the military.
Ranchette,
Sorry that you had to receive such a stinging letter. I have had them through the years, and have had guilt heaped on me in regards to my son.
The Society must be saying the same thing to all. Yesterday my grandmother said that the terrorism thing was going to get "really bad" and then it would "get solved", I presume referring to the Peace and Security thing.
As a former post so rightly said, they have all their bases covered. Don't let the comments get to you. It's all the JWs know, and unfortunately they are so blinded to reality.
Good luck
Diana
no doubt you are familiar with the practice of many popular magazines to print selected extracts from their issues 25, 50 or 100 years ago.
(scientific american goes back 150 years).
what is interesting is the ideas presented then, sometimes they are fanciful and just plain wrong.
Blondie,
Great research!! Brought back Sunday morning memories, feeling like I wanted to throw up and looking at the clock and counting the minutes unti 11:30.
Question: JWs say they don't celebrate birthdays so as not to glorify themselves so WHY do they blow their trumpets whenever they can, voicing how wonderful and caring they are whenever they get the chance?
Sounds a bit to me like letting the right hand know what the left hand is doing?
Just a thought...

the fourth paragraph on page 30 in the october 1, 2001 wt says this:.
"getting back to paul's statement in hebrews, we note that he pointed out that "there remains a sabbath resting for the peoples of god," and he urged his fellow christians to do their utmost "to enter into that rest.
" this shows that when paul wrote those words, "the seventh day" of god's rest, which had started some 4,000 years earlier, was still in progress.
I found this post really interesting because for years I have been trying to figure out this one and it always seems to change.
I would like to know what the JWs stance is on the dinosaurs etc, since every time I ask someone in my family, they are very vague, even denying the EXISTENCE of them at times. Seems like the society discredits the scientists they don't WANT to believe on this one (which is the majority)and as I can remember, flatly stated that they were wrong.
Why has the society always been so hung up on dates?? I remember 1975 even though I was only six, but I do remember the anxiety and almost the elation that they JWs had that year....and then the let down afterwards.
Think they would have learned their lesson...
