i have been out for 2 years now.
i have spoken once to my father who is a jw in that time.
he said i would get a letter from him telling me where to 'straighten up', but it has never come.
I was thinking of saying it as a bit of a joke.
He celebrated Father's Day for about 9 years. I wonder if there may be some part in him that would want to hear that even if he has to say, 'yeah, whatever.'
The guy will be dead one day soon. Doesn't he deserve to hear it? It isn't bad. I'm not WORSHIPPING him or nothing.
i mentioned in an earlier post that i had a visit the other day from a former friend, a jw woman, who wanted to invite me to the district convention on the weekend.
i almost got the impression from her casual dress that it was a social visit, until she whipped out the tract.
one thing that i noticed was her trying to soft pedal the jw jargon that is practically second nature to jws.. she talked about how one of her kids was "gone" for a few years, but had recently "come back to us" and that she was happy to have her child's company again.
I remember as I was nearing my exit I was describing elders who gave the Sunday talk as 'that guy'. I would always get reprimanded by my wife and by another elder who was married to her cousin.
I find it amusing now and then. Almost as if I should have been saying 'Reverend' instead of Mr.

I have written him about 4 times and I get NO responses. I email my sister who is a jw as well with no comments either.
So, I figure I am to keep 'peace' with all when it is in MY power. I figure I will not get too many chances to talk to my dad as he is nearing 70.
So, I thought maybe I would try to call him this weekend and wish him a happy father's day and see where the call goes.
What are your thoughts about such a call? Anything you would recommend to make the phone call go better? Do you think I should make the attempt? I'm thinking if I don't THEY never will and if I do it may get them thinking a little bit about their own conduct.
I'm nervous about the call. I will feel bad if he rejects me. I understand, but it will hurt just the same.
Any ideas????

i have been dfd and divorced from the ex for six years now.
i have remarried and been living in a idyllic cabin by a year round creek all this time but i might have to move.
so i have been going through all my stuff and discarding what i can to lighten my moving load and reviewing every item, every picture, every little piece of paper.

for those of you that don't know, i've recently had many doubts about the org and realized that i can't just let them go.
the thing was however, that i was nervous as to how my fiancee would react when i would make my doubts known to her.
so.....i finally talked to her today and it went a little something like this.......... i started with us reading together acts.
I think that you handled that WONDERFULLY!

p.s. - I enjoy Mars Hill Church in Seattle. He, at times, will speak out against jw's. I feel he is very biblical. You might enjoy his biblical theology which could help with later conversations.

That is MY postition. I feel that God DOES exist and that the Bible is TRUE. I feel that I was fed a false gospel. I feel that I have been told the correct version now and I know that it has changed my entire life.
So, I feel the org was the scammer and I want to let others know NOT to give up on God because they fell for Satan's lie. There IS Good News and it is found in the Gospel. It is Jesus. And when you come to him your life changes. You have to search it out and look.
So, I try to understand where others are coming from and realize that we are each on our own path either to or away from God. I try to bring people TO God.
I feel some have really been hurt and get real negative about those still believing in God, MOST are very respectful and willing to give each of us room on our journey. We have all been hurt. Each of us finds a way to cope. In the end, we should all show LOVE to one another as there is no other better way to be.

they can be very helpful in bringing others to chirst.. i was wondering how effective it would be to create a podcast featuring all of our experiences in and out of jw.
Regarding the mp3's, that is GOOD to see, but my thought was that a jw would have to go to an 'apostate' site to get it.
Having something on iTunes would be a 'less dangerous' site where a jw could 'stumble' upon it when they look up 'Jehovah' on iTunes.
