I forget which GB guy we got...but anyhow, what's next? Written loyalty oaths? They're already making us take oral ones right now. Remind me of which letter had the apostle Paul making a congregation swear to a loyalty oath...OH RIGHT--he didn't have to.

Governing Body member Gerrit Lösch spoke at my District Convention
by under_believer ingerrit losch (it's pronounced kinda like "lirsh") did two things at our dc (portland, or june 30-july 2).
he released the new book about the minor prophets, and he gave the closing talk, the one with the resolution in it.
first of all, losch was not promoted to the governing body because of his speaking ability.

Fortunately, my dad's side of the family is of decent size, so I will be getting to know them better soon. Right now I can't because they only come together for birthdays and holidays so you know what that means...
Getting out of the house is priority number one, then a network of people, then I'll work from there. I just can't stay in an organization that has to lie about proven historical facts just to make its dating correct. Then I found out about the switch on 1914 (start of "last days" as opposed to end of the world), 1925 with Beth Sarim and Beth Shan (I can visit both, they are not that far from where I live), Mexico/Malawi, 1975 (which was huge for me, because in conversation it was dismissed as the disappointment of a few misguided witnesses), the 1980 Bethel purge, the real reason behind the generation "new light," et cetera.
The fact that the lies have piled up so high and the WTS isn't even remorseful for what it has done just really took the legs out from under the chair for me, so to speak. I used to delude myself, thinking, "Well, the people are really nice, we take care of people, and we do the preaching better than anyone else, so it has to be the Truth." Then I found out that you can find nice, brainwashed people in any number of cults. I found out that in terms of social welfare, we weren't top. And I also found that Mormons really are everywhere.
Another big thing was the conflict with loyalty. "Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down," said Jesus. We are repeatedly told "You are dedicated to Jehovah, not to an organization." Then in the next breath they will ask you, "Do you know that you're being baptized to Jehovah, and his spirit-directed organization?" Then the next day they tell you that no matter how much Bible reading you do, if you stray from that organization you'll be dead at Armaggeddon. One sister in the hall said in a comment--not paraphrasing here--that Jehovah is even going to kill witnesses on judgment day. My mouth nearly hung open in shock. And the conductor just nodded gravely. I bet she wasn't even reprimanded for that comment. The sister in question is a pioneer in a pioneer family of six with the father as elder, so her comments are taken as gospel.
I know that was a long rant but there's so much I want to make sure someone hears. I express myself in prayer about these things (quietly), but I have to let someone else know... -

Who are the Great Crowd and Other Sheep. Long article for proof reading
by jwfacts ini have just posted the following article at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/greatcrowd.htm about the great crowd and the other sheep.
i would appreciate any comments in regards to the accuracy of statements and also checking grammar.
i have reposted it again further down because this insert is too annoying with the scrolling.

I'm glad I found that site. I forget where I saw it, but there was a picture in an older magazine that had the 144k in a pen and the other sheep outside. I thought, "What about the one flock? Those sheep on the outside are right next to the bad guys!" And they had pictures of the hireling, the thief, etc. dressed in dark clothes and looking angry.

"Oh that I should have to go thru this..."
by Hellrider inwhen my mother was on her deathbed, she mumbled these words: "oh, that i should have to go thru this...".
i was the one sitting there when she said that, half-way into a coma, and she sounded kind of surprised when she said that.
she was fanatic in her belief in jw-doctrine (although she was inactive the last few years of her life), and she fully believed that armageddon was coming "any day now".

That was one of the things that nagged at me. Why does the WTS still make reference to the "Millions Now Living Will Never Die!" talk when it was obviously wrong? It's so shameful.
I know at least one sister like that. She wouldn't get herself checked out for this cancerous growth on her back. She doesn't make very much money to support herself and her daughter, and that probably is the main reason why she doesn't get herself checked out. But a big factor is that she's waiting on that New Order--oops, I meant New System--to heal everything. -

Wow, jakes, that is just out of control bad...
I've never heard tell of a bust-in Df'ing before, but then again, given the power an elder can have over his congregation, I'm not suprised.
Over in my congregation the BOE might not bust down your door, but they will enlist people to spy for them and generally bug the crap out of you until you do what they want... -

Why, why, why?
by Honesty inwhy are jehovah's witnesses so afraid?.
they are afraid of... .
apostates .
-
SirNose586
Add to that, at least for the kids around my age, fear of people finding out about their real hobbies and pastimes. Maybe it's because I'm in the "spiritual wasteland" of southern California. At least that's what the witnesses in NY say about folks from southern California...

It could be worse!
by kgfreeperson ini just came across this at salon.com.
http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2006/07/06/lost_boys/index.html .
do you suppose jws could ever have an off-shoot like this?
-
SirNose586
I don't imagine they could have an offshoot as extreme as that, but I guess that it would take a major and controversial "new light" to make a viable offshoot. But nothing that extreme.
I really do pity those boys...growing up in a cult, relying on someone else to "interpret" scripture for you. I remember reading that story earlier in People magazine. I hope they catch that perv, Jeffs. -
SirNose586
Wow, you guys are on the ball! I like that. Very much.
I look forward to sharing experiences and concerns and meeting with y'all...
I'm just a kid who has finally had all those nagging thoughts and doubts about the JWs finally come to a head. As for the name, SirNose is from the Parliament song "Sir Nose d'Voidoffunk" and 586 comes from the REAL date of the destruction of Jerusalem (I tried SirNose587 but I goofed with my other email address and it wouldn't let me login), which just burst everything open like a floodgate.
I'm still in the tower and I'll get out when I have a base, but until then, I'm going to sit tight and just wear a mask. -

Ha, speak of the devil, eh?
Sounds like it was an outdoor convention. I thought the San Diego one was pretty much the only one left...
As I don't like introductory topics, hello everyone! I'm here for support and to find people with experiences like mine....3rd gen, raised around JWs my whole life, now finally seeing what the Org is all about, etc. I'm trying to get as much evidence as I can for the day when I submit my disassociation letter.
Edit: Looks like I'm a formatting noob. Different from my last board...
