I remember asking the same thing about cars and transportation, because cars pollute and certainly there'd be none of that. The answer I got was that since there was no concern for time anymore, it didn't matter if it took months to get to your friend's house, since you all lived forever anyway...

JW child forgotten and left behind at assembly when family goes home
by HappyGuy ini was a precocious child.
i started studying in april of 1973, i was 15, and was determined to be baptized at the international assembly in atlanta in july of 1973. my parents were opposed so i hitchhiked from beaufort sc to atlanta, a trip of about 6 hours.. as i was leaving on the last day to go hitchhike back to beaufort, i saw a 10 year old boy crying.
i asked him what was wrong and he said "my family forgot me and left without me".

Apparently serving as Big Brother's eyes and ears is a bit tiresome? And the Robin-esque MS position not all that fulfilling?
I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that they need more middle management. Maybe if the job PAID, then it wouldn't be that hard to find willing volunteers, no?

Why no coverage of the Russian ban in the media?
by highdose ini mean not just in russia but world wide, wouldn't this be a great oppotunity to educate the public about this cult????.
hint hint people with media contacts....

I really like the media response. No one's feeling sad for the witnesses (in the mainstream), no one seems to be crowing over the ban, either. The response is, "Who cares?"
Apathy is going to be the real killer of the WT faith. When no one loves them and no one hates them, what are they going to do?

The items considered extremist by the Rostov court are all published in the United States and Germany. The court's 56-page ruling, seen by Forum 18, gives three categories of alleged extremism located by expert analysts in the texts: 1) "incitement of religious hatred (undermining respect and hostility towards other religions)"; 2) "refusing blood" and 3) "refusing civil responsibilities". Half the titles condemned by the Rostov court feature examples only of the first category. Thus, in an October 1998 issue of "Watchtower", one analyst found "information capable of undermining the reader's respect for the Christian (other than JW) religion, the assertion of popular disillusionment in religion in the context of processes taking place within the Anglican Church". --http://www.forum18.org/Archive.php?article_id=1385
I'd really like to see if they bring some NooLight TM to those following areas to fight the ban. Yeah, they do need lessons on respecting other religions, but the JWs are a cult, so I don't know how much they would change.
Point number 2 is one I'd really like to see changed. Stop those Hospital Liason Committees from rushing to the hospital to push the blood ban on JWs! If the JW was conscious enough to ask for no blood, then that's the person's decision. When the HLC swoops in on a barely conscious person and gets them to refuse blood, that's what I despise. The WT should say, "It's between you and God, we won't interfere with whatever you decide." And they need to stop pushing the anti-blood propaganda in the literature, so that the rank and file start to think on their own.
If the GB can be forced to crank out the NooLight TM to make them more mainstream, that will be a great result of this ban. Anything that allows the JW to have some more independence. If the ban is lifted and nothing changes, then I'll say the JWs have won this battle. It'll make them feel like they've got a legal Teflon coating. They will be able to gloat. Like other posters have said, I'm not sure if the ban will give them an immediate bump, not like the old days. But removing the ban always gives them a boost of confidence.

Gun story not in the news
by Deputy Dog inwoman shoots and kills intruder in lincoln county cushing a woman with a shotgun was on the phone to a 911 dispatcher this morning in lincoln county when she shot and killed an intruder who crashed through her back patio door.. .
donna jackson, 56, told the dispatcher a man she didn't know was at her sliding glass door to her back patio about 12:40 a.m. at 352112 e 800 road south of the cushing city limits, said lincoln county sheriff chuck mangion.. she was armed with a 16-gauge shotgun when the dispatcher heard the glass door smash and the shotgun blast, mangion said.. a man identified as billy dean riley, 53, was struck once in the chest and pronounced dead when emergency medical workers arrived, mangion said.. jackson was not harmed.. jackson was home alone when her dog woke her up, mangion said.
she turned all the lights in the house on and then armed herself with the shotgun.

I think the phrase should be "not in the mainstream news," because generally speaking, one doesn't hear about someone using a gun to defend themselves. Usually guns are mentioned in connection to school shootings, robberies, etc.

WT forbids Higher Education but permits Employment
by PopeOfEruke inisn't this a double standard?
the wt leaders forbids or at least strongly discourages higher education, main reason being the risk of getting influenced by worldly thought and associations.
then how come the wt leaders permit jw's to have fulltime employment with worldly companies??

As soon as the WTS realizes what the Mormon's did YEARS ago........they will endorse not only higher education (probably via some expanded Gilead Program) but also larger families. While the JWs might have the LDS whipped on FS, the LDS has higher retention and equal yoked marriages than the JW have ever had.........
But how to keep ahm-a-geddon squarely in front of them like a carrot dangling from a stick? Aye, that's the rub. For Mormonizing would lead them to a path of higher retention, but would undermine the whole JW shtik....

Why does God hate Grand Funk Railroad?
by HappyGuy inlike all teenagers of the early 70s i loved grand funk railroad.
especially their live album.
yes, mark farner is probably the worst guitar player in the history of music but mel shacher is the best bass player in the history of music.. their music is so silly.

Your content did not sit well with the Borg local Sanhedrin police. Sorry about that. And Grand Funk Railroad is a great name for a band, it's a shame that I don't have more of their content.
