i haven't been to meetings in a long time (trying to fade).
ever so often i do run into a witness or 2 who are friendly, but reserved (after all i am considered in active).
anyway, my hubby & i are currently working on a letter to send to the society that will more then likely get us df'd or disassociated (same thing i guess).
The WT published ONE book years ago that skimmed several religions, pointing out their faults. (I can't remember the name.)
Mankind's Search for God. I LOVED the pictures in that book. In the front there was a dude getting his heart carved out of his chest as an Aztec sacrifice; in the section on Buddhism or Shintoism there was a scroll depicting hell, which I thought was pretty fascinating. The pictures of all those gods and crazy looking hindus was quite the treat.
i just had a flash back to when we used to have to clean the kh.
each group had to take it in turn to do the cleaning.. in our group we had a bunch of lazy b*****ds, so it was left to us kids and our dad to clean the kh, bogs, etc.
even my mum used to find some excuse to duck out.. so if meetings, door knocking, studying, praying wasn't enough we also had to spend a couple of hours cleaning every month or so.
It's feast or famine. One time it was my dad and my friend alone. They complained to an elder so people got chewed out, and thankfully I wasn't in their bookstudy.
Otherwise people are pretty indifferent to the Saturday cleaning. People are coming home from a morning of rejection; how suprised should people be that they don't leap up right away to go do some more cleaning? Especially when the day is beautiful and stuff needs to get done?
i remember that happening a few times.
one sunday morning my son went up to a young elder and said "hey, i thought you were giving the talk today in xxx xxxxx.
the look of horror on the elder's face!
I really liked that we got the study done first, on the rare occasions we had a no-show or a late-show. Then I could just turn my brain off or sleep during the talk.
i was musing about being a jw the other day.im not scarred by it like many,i dont hate anyone in my old cong..theres a couple of idiotic elders of course,but in the main my biggest thing when i think of my past life is the farsical nonsense of it all!.
meeting attendance,knocking on doors...oh dear.. one of the stupidest things was being required to do talks.i mean,come on who really used to listen to that drivel..i mean really listen?.
i was an ok speaker,nothing briliant,competent ..even gave a pub talk once when all the elders were on a jolly up at elders school.. it occurred to me how robotic bros and sis were when it came to giving praise!no matter how crap the talk was,one would always get a "i really enjoyed your talk brother".every time.without fail.i know they were being nice,i used to say it all the time too.my dad once said it to me and i asked him what he liked most about it?he admitted he didnt remember what it was even about.i dont remember in 30 years man and boy ever enjoying a talk.. yep,its a nonsense religion alright.full of braindead robots.. did anyone actually pay close attention and really enjoy the "food"from the platform?
You know, sometimes I would get comments from people after the watchtower even though I hadn't commented! "I really enjoyed your comment, brother," I heard one time.
"But...er...okay. Thanks." And I knew I hadn't said anything. Maybe it was my dad's comment...?
I made a resolution to not go up to the speaker unless I could comment on a particular feature of his talk. I dreaded being asked, "What did you like about it?" and not having anything to say.
i think to be fair the gb should use the money they have collected from selling off thier property in brooklyn and offer a serverance package for those asked to leave after many years of service, $10,000 for every year of service would be good.

On the 'View' Rosey compared radical islam to radical christianity(sp). Those were her words. Will she be on a christian death list? More likely a islamic one for being compared to christians. S.

last dec 2005, the ny bethel gave talks indicating that they had to downsize (word is mine) due to "improved technology" and that as a result of this simplification some bethel family members would be invited to serve in the united states field in various assignments at various congregations where the excellent training they have recieved at bethel could be put to use and contribute much to the preaching and disciple making work.. what do you make of this?.
i wonder how they would determine who stays or goes?.
are there any former bethel members out there who can comment on rather this would be an easy transistion for those who have to leave?.
Isn't serving at Bethel voluntary service?
Did those who accepted such an assignment realize this?
Who is to blame? Those who volunteered? The WTS for not showing fellow feeling? Should there even be blame?
This is a life lesson for those involved directly with this situation and for those of us who aren't involved directly.
What if your goal was to stay there for life? Your mind forgets that whole voluntary part real quick. And why wouldn't it, you just want to stay right in the middle of Jehover's Universal Theocratic Earthly Part of His Organization TM .

there have been occasion in my life, that movies have come out that i looked so forward to seeing.
then i see them, and i am so disappointed in the finish product.
then there are movies i go to see thinking, why am i wasting my time with this junk, and then i end up finding this movie to be something enjoyable and in some cases fantastic.

I thought it was gonna be tighter than a drum, and I practically salivated with every teaser commercial. They just took way too many liberties with the story, it was too short, no Nightcrizzle, Wolvie just walks up and stabs Jean in the gut, what the deuce???, not enough Juggernaut time, as much as I like Magneto his powers were inconsistent, Cyc gets jigsawed offscreen, Prof gets jigsawed....what the deuce is up with that....
