  Is there a new round of Bethel layoffs or is it just the continuation .....

  i was just told that a young man from our area that has been at bethel for a couple of yrs.

  he didn't work in the book making process either , he was a trained mechanic working on bethel vehicles.

  i was just wondering if this is part of the original layoffs or if this is in addition to those ?

  Hah! I knew it! You see, the congregation's PO is trying to get me into Bethel to work on cars. Please PM me more about this guy's circumstances so I can offer that as a rebuttal to his pestering suggestions.

  if you could make and distribute bumper stickers to use as a tool to open the minds of jws or cult members, what would you put on them?.

  keep in mind that you would like to open thier minds, yet not offend them.

  something that any person could stick on their bumper and the jws would not be able to find reason to label them as opposers or apostates.

  Here's a couple I'd slap onto a dub's car--because I wouldn't put a sticker on my own:

  "Ask me how reading the Bible alone is dangerous"

  "Ask me how to observe The Lord's Supper by refusing to partake of it"

  "Ask me how independent thought is the most dangerous use of our minds"

  One more just to offend:

  "I hope you have a nice car--I'm calling it after you die at Armageddon!"

  last night, my wife went to a community meeting, in which a new supermarket is moving in.

  this market is called testco (sp?).

  according to what she told me, this store is british based, so i was curious what it was all about, and whether or not it was good, bad or indifferent.. please give me your feedback.. thanks..

  Then they asked again. "Are you sure? Because if you do, you know you can get help. There was a brother that had a problem with that, and now he's okay."

  Statistical effect of disassociating the inactive

  it has been tossed around several times on the forum, and invariably someone pipes up that the wts will never do it because of the adverse effects on the numbers.

  there is a glaring flaw in that reasoning.. the inactive are never counted as publishers.

  the numbers that are reported are of active, reporting publishers.. if they disassociate every single person who is inactive and refuses to reactivate themselves, the numbers will not be negatively affected at all.

  I can see leanings of this taking place. Last night on the "How did we do last year?" part, they talked about 7 reactivated people in the last year. Since the fields are unproductive, might as well salvage whatever is possible of former r&f.

  i think so.. the watchtower wouldn't agree with me.

  too much of anything is counter productive.. it's like eating a good meal, and 5 minutes later ordering the same plate.

  I got home from work last night at 6:25 and I had a 7:00 meeting. As I rushed to shove some food in my mouth and quickly hack the 5 o'clock shadow off my face, I wondered...what the deuce am I doing? And when does the slaving for a corporation end?

  I get to the meeting and I'm given an assignment on the service meeting that would ordinarily be an elder's part (the last part, 20 mins). I mean, what's going on here? MS's can only do the announcements on the service meeting, right? Is there some loophole to let an MS do a part that would ordinarily be for an elder?

  Elderly JW refused to open her Bible...

  okay, some of you might have read about my conversation with the elderly lady that was doing street witnessing in conyers, ga. this experience happened this morning ... just looked at the clock, yesterday morning .

  i walked out of the local tag office (where we register our vehicles and acquire license plates for the cars) and there sat an elderly lady with current magazines.

  being in somewhat of a hurry, i tried to walk a more direct path to my vehicle ... but she thought i was avioding her.

  Interesting story, for a few reasons....I find it interesting that she didn't want to continue the discussion. If you find the right dub, they will try to challenge you or pose those loaded questions that the book-of-the-moment can answer. She found out that you weren't a mark, and so she wisely avoided the battle. I mean, it's basically an admittance that dubs can really only reach out to rubes.

  Also, I find it curious that she swore on Jehovah. And dub worth his bookbag will know that's a no-no.
