The prodigal son scrpture is conveniently forgotten during the reinstatement process. I've witnessed it first hand (along with other wt nonsensical atrocities), all in the sake of 'unity' and elders 'judging' a DA person 'not ready' who feels that going back is the right thing to do.this someone has been working on reinstatement (from a disassociation from a few years ago)for over a year, has been vigilant, honest and devoted to the attempt, who was invited back only to be denied. I've cringed and cried as i have watched the pain this person is going through. why is this person doing it some may ask? more than anything else, it is the family thing. The inhumane treatment by other family members, which I have witnessed as well finally took its toll. I have watched from the sidelines as all the 'stuff' i had learned from apostate literature and internet sources became stark reality in front of my eyes. Every evil and accusation claimed on this board (and elsewhere) against this organization I have watched silently unfold as reality.ughhh...i've probably said too much already,,,i need to go cry, just thinking of this nightmare.

If you are dissasosiated............
by Heather indo the elders have to reinstate you if you start going back to meetings.
i was told a while back that you would be treated as a person on reproff with all restrictions but now i'm hearing that if i go back i will have to wait to be reinstated.....this is such bullsh**.
i really don't want to go back...but my grandmother just passed away last week and i went to the service(it was at the kh) and was able to see my family that for 4 years now has bearly talked to me...and i go to see my 2 beautiful nieces...whom i would love to have a relationship with.....so i started thinking maybe i could go to a few meetings to be able to have something to do with them.....well i went today....i was so upset earlier that i went and smoked a bit to calm me down...heeeeeeee .....so anyway....i was soo irritated and bored all the f-ing answers that some of them come up with....i guess i just keep thinking about the other side...they really do think that those of us on the outside are miserable......i was more miserable today then i have been in years just sitting there trying to pretend.

by What-A-Coincidence inre: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/8/116108/1.ashx.
a bethel insider in the know told me that all of the child abuse lawsuits where the watchtower bible and tract society was one of the defendants were settled back in the beginning of this year.
i questioned it and called napa myself and they were absolutely settled back then.

Unless I am reading Mad's comments wrong and his intended jpg image post (which is a pciture of a bunny saying 'You're so Dumb"), I believe I have just had my first ad hominem attack directed against me and my question hear on this discussion board. All just for asking a question and hoping that the truth gets out.

Does the "gag order" mean that there cant even be a news story about this with a headline to the affect "Watchtower and Bible Tract Society Settles Child Abuse Cases"? I would think that no details would be necessary, just an annoucnment in the TV and Newspapers about this would be a positive step in gettting people to know about this organization

Wife finally sees truth about "the truth"
by jakes inwell it has finally happened.my wife is not going back to the meetings again.as you would probably read in my previous posts, i have written a book about my experience in the watchtower organisation which is on the verge of being published.she still tried to cling to what little belief she had in the borg and did not want to read my manuscript.we discussed many of the issues and concerns i had about the watchtower but most of the times it ended in a heated argument.. i was quite surprised when she approached me about two weeks ago and asked to read my manuscript.after reading it she handed it back to me and said she fully supports me in publishing this book.her eyes have been opened to the deception and lies.i think she and a friend had a bad experience calling on one of her so-called jw friends.furthermore, she did not attend this past weekends circuit assembly..
hooray!!!.
all i have to do now is to introduce her to all you wonderful people here on jwd.. jakes.

Documentary Videos on Cults?
by Hoping4Change inrecently, the history channel has had a couple of fairly decent/informational programs on cults and how they operate (one was a general overview and the other was on jonestown).
i am wondering if there are any other wothwhile videos on/about cults, especially bible based cults available anywhere that do not come from the standpoint of trying to promote an alternative or more mainstream form of christianity.
it would be really nice to see a documentary on how bible based cults work and how they 'cherry-pick' scripture to get members to surrender their free-will to do anything 'those taking the lead' tell them to do.

Just thought I'd chime in that, for this year at least and still, the "144,000" is still to be regarded as a literal number. That it is a literal # was mentioned during the talk at the memorial.

Such films would be a good mix of psychology, religion, sociology and history to demonstrate that some of the biggest problems with fringe religions is not necessarily that they dare to be different or have different interpretations of the Bible, but that they often do so in behaviorly destructive and abusive manners (and are in some cases intellectually dishonest with treatment of scripture). Perhaps kind of like taking the information found in Steve Hassan's books and making it accessable through video form. Do such videos exist?

JGnat - you said "My husband is very much like you, Fred. He sincerely believes everything written in the literature. What he DOESN'T comprehend is the sub-culture of influence, status, and backbiting that runs a hall. Not being a "generational witness", my husband doesn't have anyone to speak to his cause. He's an outcast in suit and tie."
My s.o., is very similar. My s.o. just can't seem to understand the concepts of power, deceit, intellectual dishonesty and also the 'mind and scripture twisting' techniques used to keep people from exercising their Christian freedom and acting from their loving Christian hearts to see the 'true nature' of the 'spiritual food' being handed out every week, ESPECIALLY when it comes to this whole DA/DF/reinstatement thing. It is painful to watch a loved one,who is a decent Christian WITHOUT their meddling, go through so much agony to get reinstated. I watch as my s.o. can't figure out the divide between some of the writings in the literature, the bible and the actual bevhavior by other family members, people in the hall, and the elders. What JWs dont seem to understand is that THEY can be (and are in this case) the cause of "stumbling". How do other UBMs cope with this? (watching their loved one exist in anguish over this stuff). As a matter of fact, a more general question might be, "Are there any other forums that are especially geared toward us 'unbelieving mates' and coping with all of the issues that come with it?

Watchtower--NGO With WANGO!
by Dogpatch inwatchtower--ngo with wango!
if the watchtower society truly believes in a "new world" then why are they joining organizations that are attempting to make this old one better?
activitieswango is unique in regularly bringing together a prestigious, international leadership of non-governmental organizations, as well as other prominent leaders, representing diverse nations, perspectives, and realms of activity, and who are integrally involved in advancing world peace and creating a better society and world.
