i just wanted to know the real answer because it appears there is never one.

1.if a family member is dfed are you allowed to talk to them.

As A Witness Did You Believe That Jesus Was Your Mediator??

when you were a witness did any of you know that the society actually teaches that jesus is not your mediator unless you are one of the 144,000??

I didn't realize fully that he wasn't (according to their teaching). It always bugged me that the Greek Scriptures didn't apply to me. I think I would read that and my eyes would gloss over it, saying that they couldn't really mean that. It was so wonderful to learn that Jesus IS my mediator.....

I'm willing to lay odds that 90% of the current dubs don't realize they are being taught that Jesus is not their mediator. But it is in their publications in black and white. Do they actually read this stuff? Study it, like good little JWs are told to do? A large percentage I knew did not.

What is/was the last most believable date for second coming/Armageddon?

i was never a witness, i joined this site after my wife started studying with them, and i got upset over some of the things that resulted from that.

however, i grew up in a similar high-control group called the worldwide church of god.

much like the witnesses, in the mid 70s ( i forget the exact year, i was only in elementary school in those days, but it may have been 75, just like jws), there was a big push toward the end being at hand, the great tribulation is coming, etc etc.

no, "the christ" is not jesus, as we jehovah's witnesses believe (in the context of our convention title) so we would not just say "jesus".

Jesus is not the mediator for all....

He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members. This spiritual nation is like a little flock of Jehovahs sheeplike ones.Romans 9:6; Revelation 7:4.
I doubt that the average Witness has caught on that Jesus is not their mediator... but the Bible sure does not say that....

Have You Ever Gotten "Payback" From The Elders or Others In The Hall?

some congregations have their own little cliques and if you try to get into them, you're gonna be rebuked.

if you've ever tried to "tell on" an elder or rather "prominent" person in the hall, it can be hell to pay in return.. have you ever been on the other end?

they say "payback is a bitch".

Kind of... My JC was composed of two out of three elders who disliked me. The first one had consumed enough alcohol at my home to be rather inebriated and he was going to drive his five year old nephew home. I took his keys and firmly told him (in front of other JWs) that he was not going to be driving any child anywhere in his current state and I would take the child home. Same elder - camping trip - I wanted to do the WT study and he ridiculed me loudly. Therefore, he didn't like me much. Second elder - I caught being overly intimate with another elder's wife and called him on it. I didn't report him or anything, but he was embarassed. It took those two all of 15 seconds to df me, they couldn't wait. The third elder didn't want to do it. Paybacks it was. And I thank them.... I learned the truth finally (from the return visit that the first elder took me on).

i'm not sure if this has ever been brought up before (probably has) but something just occurred to me...why were there always dubs guarding the donation boxes outside out of the conventions (in the hallways.)?

i mean i know the obvious reason behind it...very north korea-esque if you ask me, but we were told over and over just how special and christian and different we were from the world.... i'm looking for your theories on this.

Oh... I thought it was the strategic placement of the cute eligible pioneers... so the single highly paid dub brothers would donate for a chance to ask them out. At least, that is how it worked when I did it....

i was reflecting on the other thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/135961/2.ashx) about the new koolaid watchtower....and thinking about this being more of an overall cost cutting measure than any kind of old light repackaged as special lite.......can you think of any other examples?

a few examples: no more subscriptions (no more yellow envelopes, no more yellow, blue, green, pink forms).

no more postages sending individual magazines.. kingdom ministry now sent in same box as magazines rather than separate roll of kms to po house.
