Most who say "Yes" are usually Born Again Christians trying to convert the JW,
Really? I didn't know that. Does it ever work?
Yes, it does.... :-)
if you're a less-than-zealous jw still in for family, what do you do if/when you actually get roped into knocking on a door?.
now what many probably do, and i've done quite a bit, is the good old: "hi we're here with the latest wt, would you like to read it?
i have abandoned this presentation for a couple of reasons.. 1. every now & then someone will actually feel sorry for us and accept the mag.

we had a hard core bunch of elder drunks all 5 of them could drink like there was know tomorrow my father who was never a jw and liked a drink had nothing on these guys at jw weddings ect they would ask my dad to be barman because he was a big guy know one would argue with he would refuse to serve some elders because they had to much
The elder who slurped down a 6 pack at our house and then attempted to drive his young nephew home and test drive a car for his sister? He protested loudly when I refused to give him his keys and df'd me a few months later...... Totally unrelated right? The elders who read the WT recommendation that they try going without alcohol for a month (in the 80s) and they laughed.... couldn't do it.
so.... on top of everything else i have gone through from this cult..... my mother has moved in with us because her apartment with the jw landlords flooded and they could not be bothered to fix it.
so, as a good christian daughter and son-in-law, we didn't bat an eyelash about collecting her and her belongings and incorporating her into our family.
when she needed help moving out, nary a jw showed up to help, nor did they bring an empty box - nothing...... it was my husband (worldy) and i (df'd apostate type).
I think she said it because she was just as angry that the guy would even talk like that. I don't know if she ripped them a new one - I would love to do so. She is not attending meetings and is currently looking for a new church. (NOT a kingdom hall).

None of her group offered her so much as a place to stay.
Now, she goes back to visit congregation for going away brunch and the elders pull her in the back room and start saying "Now, you let us know if they abuse you. We are here for you - if your kids abuse you that is a crime." I NEVER..... What sh&t are they thinking? These are men who knew me from childhood... I have done nothing to them.... It makes me SO ANGRY that I want to start suing for slander.
Hello, I am the one who was abused by one of their ranks for years. Were they there for me? NO. They keep the abusers and throw away the abused. I am just so angry .... venting..... Just when I think nothing else can make me hate this organization more.....
Has anyone ever sued for slander and defamation of character and won?
while i have only been to one meeting my entire life i have always found it odd that jw's don't use child care or sunday type school for children.
what is the reason for this policy by wts?
tia.
Reasons given in Proclaimers book:
"Teachers were staying out of the field service to prepare for these classes (for young ones) and to conduct them."
"(relating to those who were conducting children's programs) - What was taking place, however, was that an organization was developing within an organization of Jehovah's servants. This would not contribute to unity."
" and... in 1883, they decided that only a very short time was left until all the member's of Christ's bride would be united with him in heavenly glory. ... We who are in training for the high calling cannot turn aside from the special work of this age.
So, basically, spending time on the kids doesn't sell magazines..... and kids don't bring in money. So, why care? And besides, the end is too close to be bothered..... and they were counseled not to have kids in the first place.
good morning:.
if an old thread regarding dr. brenda upton v. the wtb&ts had not been bumped up, i would never have come across this horrific but spellbinding information.
please consider these opening words:.
Over the past few months I have seen in the news two lawsuits - one for JWs who did not get their convention time off and got fired and the other for someone who thought she should still get her husband's death benefits after he died refusing blood. A JW nurse turned my mom into the elders for child abuse because there were bruises reported on me - not to the proper authorities, mind you - the elders.
Does that mean that all JWs are bad employees? naw.... But they have their share of "special expectations."
just a simple question.. within the jws, if a woman needs to pray for the group because no baptized man is present, she has to cover her head as a mark of respect/submission (take your pick).
it applies even if the male is a young child.
my question is, does the rule still apply if there's a male baby present?
The male has to be baptized. But, yes, it is pure silliness.
if so, did it bother you that he had been reprooved and forgiven rather than reported to the police?
Two - one on parole from prison, with his picture up at the post office, but nobody ever told us. And another one was just "weird" - always assigned himself to the car groups with kids and always touching them..... Elders would not let their kids work with him, but it was apparently just fine for our kids.
do you think jehovah is the father of the watchtower society?
Given that children take after their fathers.... NO - By their fruits you will know them.
was there one family that ruled your congro?.
was it referred to as brother so and so congro?.
if you married into that family were you automatically made an m's or elder?.
Yep. Dad - PO. 5 kids - 1 daughter / son-in-law kicked out of Bethel because of pregnancy, he is PO in KH to the north. Next kid is SO in KH, owns the business that employs half the congregation. Brother-in-law of this elder is elder in KH too. Next kid - elder in another KH to the east. Next kid - misfit who is half apostate and moved away. Last kid - don't know where she is anymore. Got married. He and wifey are pioneers and if you are related to them, or they happen to like you, you are "promoted" - if they don't you are hosed. Might as well get out of dodge. Yeah - this congregation and the surrounding ones are known as "Family Name" circuit.
