On the outset: we are too different. Then, if they got past that and looked into it they found it was a difficult life to lead and they would have to give up to much to commit to it. Those who do come in are either weird and lonely to begin with or broken and looking to anything for an answer.

What would you say is the main reason why people didn't listen to us?
by JH inwhen i started going out door to door, i was sure i'd bring a couple of people with me to the org.
i knew my parents believed in god and the bible, so i was sure i'd be able to convince them with a few simple verses that we had the truth.
but no, they didn't seem convinced enough to want to study.

How many are like me?
by JH ini still believe in god.
still believe his name is jehovah or something like it.. still believe that jesus is his son, and he isn't god almighty.. don't believe in the trinity.
i believe in the resurrection.

I definitly don't believe the the "unbeliefs": trinity, hellfire, immortal soul. But as for what I do believe, I don't really know right now. My disillusionment is so deep it has made me question everthing. I would like to say I still believe in Jehovah and Jesus, the ransom, hope of eternal life, etc. but I can't say for sure. I sort of in "limbo" right now.

I have tried in vain to email Ray Franz through his editor. Could someone here who has a more direct way of contacting him deliver a message for me? Please PM me if you can help. My parents were friends of his and Cynthia's years ago and I have some questions for them.
I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks.

Gotta get this out today.
by purplesofa ini don't know where to begin to say what is all bottled up inside me.
i may need to be on another forum, but i have come to respect the posts and input of so many here, and trust.....so it may be jumbled, and may take starting a few topics to fully get it out.. i have already posted about my youngest brother committing suicide.
i have another brother also.. my mother divorced my father i am guessing when i was five or six.

Dear Purps: I wish I knew you personally and could give you a hug. You are carrying much to big a burden for one person. Have you considered going to counseling with your brother? What about a friend? You need areal sholder to cry on.
As for your mom, what she has done is cruel. If her elders have any sense they would counsel her to be fair to your brother. I don't think this issue is the fault of the cong. The probably have no idea how she behaves with her family. She definitly needs some professional help.
PM me anytime if you want to chat. I really feel for you.
Take care.

What and how would you change/fix?
by XYZ inso often, i hear people complaining about how the jw beliefs are no longer working and things like that....but so often, the complainers never say what should be done to solve the problem(s).
today i was reading jehovahs-witness.com/6/122349/1.ashx (about "faders"), which had some honest & interesting points but no solutions.
some, even seem to think there's flaws in the whole jw organization.

That's an interesting and valid question. I'll try to answer as best I can, not just to satisfy your curiosity but to get my own thoughts in order as well.
In a word: Honesty.
The org's origins are not quite as innocent as they would have you believe. They don't need to gloss over things like Russell's fixation with pyramidology, his ever changing of dates, Rutherford's alchohol abuse, Beth-Sarim... We encourage new ones to analyze the origins of their beleifs and to abandon them if they have pagan origins. What about us and our origins?
Also, we would be privy to how the governing body operates, it's methods for arriving to conclusions, how many votes are required for a change to be made, etc.
A new policy of zero tolerance for child abuse and pedophilia should be put into effect. And all cases or accusations of abuse should be reported to the authorities. These are legal matters, let the law deal with them.
The ban on blood should be re-visited. If in fact, they have correctly interpreted Hebrews 15 and "to abstain from blodd" means having no blood at all, than alowing blood fractions makes no sense. Either it's wrong to take blood or not, which is it? And what to do with those who died for refusing fractions before the "new light"? Is the Society blood guilty fot their deaths? And those who refused organ transplants and vaccinations, when the "current truth" banned them, and got ill or died because of it, are they guilty for them as well? What do you think?
Did you know there is absolutely no historical evidence for stating that Nebuchadnezar destroyed Jerusalem in 606/607 BCE as we have been taught. NONE! There is no dispute among schollars, Jerusalem fell in 586/587 BCE and there is a lot of evidence to back this up. The only organization that says it happend in 607 BCE is the WT. Why? This date fits nicely with their pointing to 1914 as the bith of the Kingdom. Without this invented date there is no 1914. Can you imagine Jehovah's Witnesses w/o 1914?
We deserve to hear from the Society what their true involvement with the UN's Department of Public Information was. We know the truth, the evidence speaks for itself, but an admission and and apology from the GB would go a long way.
So to sum it up again: Honesty
Oh and "love without hypocrysy" that would be nice. Let's get back to basics. Put aside all the rules and regulations and focus on what Jesus said would sum up the law and the prophets: love God above all things and our neighbor as ourselves.
Since I don't think any of this happening I can no longer, in good conscience, invite others to share these beliefs. So I no longer go out in service. I can't take a true stand for these things w/o the fear of being DF'd anf loosing my loved ones. But I can at least not share in the Society's guilt of deceiving any others.

Breaking my silence

I am really sorry for your situation. I think, there may be more to your wife's story than she is letting on. As others have already pointed out, she broke the WT rules by marrying you and she is also breaking them by leaving you. The Society gives only three reasons for separation: Spousal abuse, spiritual endangerment and lack of financial support. If you do not fit any of these, she cannot leave you and be in good standing in the cong. To divorce you and be able to re-marry you would have to have been unfaithful to her.
Under no circumstances would she be encouraged to leave you to "get closer to Jehaovah". Even though you are not a witness she would be admonished to fulfill her commitment to the marrige.
So,the WT is not guilty of breaking up your marrige. You may want to did a little deeper into your wife's true motives.
It's a shame to see a marrige crumble but it's even worse if someone is being deceived. I don't mean to make matters worse for you but I don't want you to be fooled.
