  wow, darin just called me and told me of a real exciting experience he had.

  you see darin belongs to toastmasters, and toastmasters encourages public speaking.

  darin says this guy at toastmasters has been trying to get in touch with him, so finally darin agreed to meet him at a restaurant before the next toastmasters meeting.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------darin says the guy asked him almost immediately "were you a jw?

  If we are to understand "abstain" from blood as including all methods of taking in blood, then accepting fractions breaks the command to "abstain" from blood. Either the interpretation of "abstain" is too broad or taking fractions is against God's requirements. You can't have both. Logic 101.

  The origins of the Star of Bethlehem - was Satan really behind it?

  there's an interesting dicsussion going on in channelc about the origins of the star of bethlehem.. "the wt continues to teach that the star was in fact a light from satan, who was seeking to kill the child jesus.

  what i noted from actually reading the account, is that there is no justifiable proof from scripture, that what the wt teaches about that light being from satan, is true.".

  ....... and i have to concur.

  I've wondered about this in the past. The Bible account does not give the origin of the star and does not vilify the Magi. So, the WT's interpretation is purely conjecture.

  Back of the hall stragglers... were you one?

  there were mother's with babies, there were those suffering from vericose veins that had to stand up.

  what about the rest of us?

  in my cong there were only a few "gifted ones" who'd do sound and it was behind the literature counter (our hall was tiny).

  Why is it so many Men agree to take on the Position of an Elder?

  i just wonder because with the stresses of earning a living, taking care of immediate family, and getting in little free time that is available, why would anyone want to take on this extra job at no charge, answer to more bosses, and be submited to endless critisizing behind your back for decisions.

  Whatever the reasons they originally accept the position, many step down because the stress is too great. I've been in several congregations where the "used to be elders" outnumbered the actual ones.

  I too am adopting the wait and see attitude. I intend to live a clean and honest life till I die, after that who knows?

  Where else would I go?

  Seriously, I can't talk to my witness friends for fear of being disfellowshiped, I can't confide in worldy people because they would not understand and other sites are either too religious or militant.

  And: "misery loves company".
