Changeling i pressed F5 and the new avatar showed. I used to like the black and white bodysnatchers film, i saw the Donald Sutherland once and it freaked me out, esp at the end. I'm just a big scardey cat!

My New Avatar!
by Locutus of Borg ini decided to deep six the old one, it was donald sutherland from "invasion of the body snatchers".
to be honest, it even creeped me out.
maybe it was a defence mechanism to keep people at a distance .

not sure what to do about this...
by dobbie inso sis in law father has been on dialysis for yrs and is elderly and hubby just got a text from his bro 'just so you don't put your foot in it ******'s father is stopping dialysis this wk and has 2 wks to live' (hes a jw too).
so i said to hubby he should reply and mention how sorry we are but he said why as they're treating me(dobs) like dirt and he doesn't see why he should.
but although they have cut me out now totally it seems i still think i should do something.

Well, we sent the card even though hubs was dead against it. Her dad passed away last week so we sent a bereavement one to her and to her mother. Anyway she was in the school playground this morning and moved away from me and was deliberately avoiding my eye, hubby was stood next to me, she went up to him and said 'thanks for the card ****' and walked away. I'm glad she had the decency to thank him but its funny as i was the one whosent them whilst he was the one who was against that!Guess i'm still the evil uncaring apostate and always will be now. Part of me wishes i hadn't bothered now so i suppose that means i AM evil! I guess i should be used to being invisible after 10 months of it but just a 'thanks' would have been nice....

Billions of Lives Depend On This?
by R.F. inthe greatest work of all time, never to be repeated, is supposedly done by jehovah's witnesses.
of course you know i'm referring to the door to door work they take part in.
so many lives are at stake and your life is dependent on if you "accept the good news" that they preach.. i surely don't believe this anymore.

I was actually told a couple of times to walk slower, no one was in and they were trying to stretch their fs time to the minimum one hour, then we'd end up going to a garden centre for tea and i used to hate all that waste of time. When the ministry finished i'd rather go back home thanks and get on with stuff, esp as one sister used to put her bible in the middle of the table in the hope to attract passers by i used to cringe!
Also my mil used to do return visits but she'd deliberately pick out one or two where she knew she'd be invited in for coffee so that she could be there for longer.
I used to say to hubby if they really believed it was the end they'd all be pioneers, out speaking to people as many hours of the day as they could, but in our congragation it was do an hour, then have a coffee and a few rounds of golf!

Setting a shopping mall booth for preaching? Is that the newest trend?
by divejunkie ini saw it for the first time.
in a very pricy shopping center in an upscale area, these two witnesses couples had a booth, very similar to those for cellphones, and they were trying to attract people to it and passing out magazines and other literature.
after the shock, i got to thinking: .

I remember when they used to go preaching at the railway station (which my hubby hated cos he worked there) and the manager actually banned them so they did it outside instead.
Also for a few years, once a year one of our parks lets out a space for anyone to set up a stall for say charity or for religions to preach and they have been doing that for about three years i think, its not every week or anything but i remember feeling sorry for the poor people out for a nice day at the park and having to listen to all that!

"I am leaving"
by DazedAndConfused inbigdreaux's thread caused me to think back on similar threads where the poster's have been blasted for their exit threads.
most try to reason with the poster with positive responses and try to get them to stay with us, but a few have posted negative thoughts to being downright nasty.. i have noticed various post's stating "you'll be back" (in sarcasm) to those who outright state that we are better off without you (the poster who says goodbye.).
there have been good people here, bigdreaux included, who are ostracised for their post to say goodbye.

Personally i always think it's thoughful on their part to let us have the chance to wish them luck, say goodbye etc, plus we know not to worry about them rather than if they suddenly stopped posting and we wondered if they were okay. Every single poster on his has probably helped someone else through a comment/experience at some point but if their time to move on and away has come, or time for a break i appreciate them thinking of us and letting us know.

I must say Goodbye for now
by KW13 inthis may not be a forever goodbye, but its certainly a goodbye to this stage of my life because i need to make real progress instead of just talking about it.
i may post the odd post on a rare occasion, but its not part of my plan really.. i posted a topic called the truth, which was originally going to be my farewell to this forum.
i think with my current situation, having a son and having a family that requires my attention it would be wise for me to move on in some shape or form, because i dont want the negativity of the watchtower society to rub off on my son and give him any of the grief and worries i had when i was growing up.

Karl we all understand. You've got a brilliant life now with your special family and you need to be concentrating on that. I had a break a while ago (not that it was noticed lol!) but i came back cos i'm so nosy i wanted to see how everyone was doing! Yes Simon's comment caught my attention as well. Sometimes coming here too much can stop you from moving on with your life .Put your family and yourself first and enjoy yourself, i'm sure Noah will help you to move away from your jw experiences. I know you will be great parents and will miss your posts and sense of humour! Hugs to all three of you Deb x
