Since going online to CAIC (cult awareness and information centre) which really helped me at my lowest, and i recognised all the emotions etc were normal on leaving cults, and that some form of mind control were more subtle than others, i now recognise them as a cult. They don't have to get them all to kill themselves to make them a cult do they! Esp all the total control over my hubbys family and the shunning etc can i see it so clearly now. IT'S A CULT!!

Great QFR, really stupid answer from WT

it was suggested i retitle and repost it as my title did not really convey what the topic was about, so here it is again.. i was looking at who incited david to take the census, satan or jahooba (2 sam 24:1 vs 1 chron 21:1).
anyway, i was searching the wt 2006 cd and i came across this qfr that has nothing to do with what i was looking for, but i could not believe what i was reading.

Can i have some advice re fading hubby please?
by dobbie inbasically i di'ad last year and at first hubby was petrified and was more like a jw apologist than a supportive spouse.
however this year esp the last few months, where even his own mother has told him she won't set foot in our door even to see her grandchildren he is v v disgusted with the religion.
the problem we have tbh is moving on properly and i know what it is, he doesn't believe it anymore, yet he says shes still his mother even though shes never been good to him and he knows she's totally cut him out if he left (she only v seldomly texts or rings him if she wants something).

I guess so really, but she's one scary mommy!Sent him to school with a black eye she'd given him once. Tells people hes not a 'real man' and didn't visit her grandson who was sick in hospital, not even for her son's sake. Nice christian lady!!!!I think maybe he's still in awe of her and her husband who's a very forceful bullying type of elder, since i stood up to him i know he's nothing but poor hubby is just plain scared i guess. I just want them not hanging over our heads, they've even asked him if he wants to d'a but he changed the subject - wish he'd said yes!!!

There is no way he will see a counseller at this stage anyway. He hasn't been to meetings in a year. He has never had any friends in it. Alot of jws don't talk to him anyway, he won't talk to them either if i am there with him. The closest blood relatives in it are his mother (his step dad is not worth mentioning) his brother and his family. He is very soft hearted and doesn't like 'letting people down'. I just wish i could help him make that final step and make the break, but he is a procrastinator in everything.
Oompa - sorry your wife is so strong in it that must be hard to live with daily. As regards the toxic waste, yes that would be v tempting but she won't come in our house, let alone the stairs lol!
