Just wondering if you still abstain from celebrating christmas birthdays etc or if you do celebrate them how long did it take to feel comfy with doing it after you'd left the jws?I'm fading at the moment but although me and hubby have talked about spending xmas with our nonjw families and i told him i was going to start sending bday cards to my family, the thought of it scares me like its a big huge sin.Does it ever feel natural to celebrate holidays?I used to love all that sort of thing before i was a witness but when my mum and stepdad wished me happy bday last month it felt really odd and i was uneasy.I find it v confusing cos i can sort of see that jesus wasn't born in dec. but maybe he can have 2 bdays like the Queen! Also not being able to send fathers day cards this year was the final straw for me i felt so bad about it so i have lots of making up to do but just hope i can enjoy it all without feeling bad. I know they say some bday things have pagan origins but there are things jws can have or do that also are pagan.Wedding rings for example. Thanks

Kingdom Hall Experiences
by KW13 inwhat things happened at your meetings that annoyed you?.
was it at a hall ya visited?
did it happen more than once?.

I used to hate the way you were expected to keep your babies and children quiet - short of gagging them what could i do?!And i used to hate hearing some of the parents shouting at and smacking them in the little kitchen next to the main room.It used to really annoy me when i'd go into the second room at the back, and the brothers would try to usher me back into the main room i just ignored them in the end and they stopped.
My stepfather took field minstry once a wk and told a sister there who had come out on her own with two young uns to 'control your child' so she had to leave the room which made the other cry.I had my own with me but there were 5 other sisters there and not one of them helped her.It really wound me up the way he spoke to her.
It annoyed me that you'd get counselled for not answering up and when you put your hand up they'd miss you or they'd always stick to choosing the same ones.

The JW organization could be the best for finding women !!!!
by xbethelite ini was at bethel not long ago.
and other then the hypocrisy i saw the most beautifull women in the world all in one place.
bethel makes the miss universe pagent look silly.did i mention these women are from all over the world, bethelites can stay in other countries for cheap because they can stay in assembly halls.

Very nicely put Dansk you will have alot of fans now!
Xbethelite you don't need a stunning beauty to have a family with, and the reason there are so many single jw girls seems to be that there are more sisters than brothers.I always feel sorry for all the single sisters i know 30 yrs and over because a lot of the brothers settle down later and then marry the ones in their twenties. Anyway if you had married a bethelite girl you could have had a hard time if she didn't agree with your views on bethel jws etc.

Just joined
by pat1 inhi every one i am not sure if i am posting in the right place or not but just wanted to say a quick hello.
i am a disfellowshiped (ex brother of 27 years), they did this to me nearly eight years ago after forming a commitee with two lying elders (one decent) who didn'nt like my father who was the presiding overseer at the time and stand in circut overseer.
i was married for six years at the age of 19 and when i decided to have a break from her it all hit the fan and the lies started about me.

Hi Pat1 and welcome! Your'e obviously another poor person who is suffering because of the stupid wts doctrine, is there any way you can feel you can contact your dad, even if its just by letter, and tell him all you've posted to us on here.At least then you will know that you've tried to get in touch with him, and whatever happens he will know just how much you still care for him.X

Were you a bathroom breaker?
by Mysterious ini swear my mother used to keep better track of my bladder than i did.
she'd sit me down occasionally for talks such as "i noticed you've been going to the bathroom a lot during the meetings lately maybe we need to cut down on what you drink on meeting nights" etc.
others would go 2 or 3 times a meeting and if i went twice a week i'd get a talk about it!

I remember once we were actually counselled from the platform about going to the bathroom during the songs, that it was important not to miss them and to meditate on what we were singing - as someone who always had to use the loo at least twice in a meeting i ended up crossing my legs for 2hrs and not hearing anything at all all i could think about was how much i needed the loo!I got wise in the end and applied the counsel - instead of going during the songs i went in the meeting in the really boring bits.I should mention though that this counsel wasn't just directed at kids it was all of us!

Anyone forcibly removed?
by Wordly Andre innot sure if this has been talked about but,
when i was about 12, my family and i were sitting in the middle of the kingdumb hall, i was seated at the end of the aisle, and some lady sitting about 7 rows in front of us got up and started yelling, and ran up to the speaker, two guys grabbed her and took her outside, we never saw her again, but i do remember all the rumors about her, and what she did, i saw her clearly but people were saying that she tried to attack the elder with a knife, i did not see a knife, other rumors were drugs, demons, apostate, etc.
has anyone here been removed from the kingdumb hall by force?

Never saw anything like this happen - wish it had cos would have livened up the meeting!
Garybuss - that was awful - who did they think they were the sweet cops?!I can imagine my little boy would have been really scared and upset by morons like them.
