For me personally i tried to fade i too have had big issues over my hubbys family. The jws would not leave me be so i decided the only way was to write and hold my head up rather than them kick me out for apostasy which i feel would have happened. To be honest it has been the most stressful 7 months of my life since being shunned, hubbys fading and he hates the way i'm treated, nearly broke us up and the children noticed, it was terrible. But i still had the relief of being able to answer the phone open the door etc and know it wouldnt be them. This last month things have been much better and i feel more contented than i have for years, so i'm trying to say it is extremely hard emotionally dealing with the aftermath of it all but i would send in my letter again definately. How does your husband feel about it all though?Mine does not want to d'a he feels he shouldn't have to, let them come and find him if they want to do it and of course his mother would cut him out even more. Just think long and hard about doing it and make sure it is what you really want, it is horrible at first but you can come through, and you have everyones support here!hugs x

Only the family of 3 that live next door to us - they're jehovahs witnesses! Oh, and the man who lived there before, he was a jw as well! So i guess we were crazy for quite a while as well!

Voting on hall decoration?
by stapler99 ini was just wondering what people's experiences with how the congregation decided how to decorate their hall, colour schemes and so on.
was the decision made by the boe without much consultation?
were many in the congregation upset at the choice?.

I can remember when they wanted to redecorate out k hall, although there was nothing wrong with it!Loads of people protested and there was a lot of bad feeling as they though this money it was going to cost over £20,000!) should be spent on air conditioning rather than new chairs etc, as hubby and i were inactive we were told we couldn't vote (thank goodness!) but when they realised how little support there was they suddenly said inactive ones could vote but i played dumb and pretended not to understand and kept well out of it. The elders themselves chose the colour schemes etc and it looked disgusting! What a waste of money...

Thanks misanthropic and Juni! Yes he was a 2lb cutie at birth, can't believe he's 5 this month! I didn't post an earlier picture of him as they're a bit too scary, he looked like a skinned rabbit. Everyone in itu used to try and grab that cow outfit for their little one it was really popular.

Going Veggie
by Sirona inwhen i was jw, i didn't know any vegetarians.
they had the teaching that god had allowed us to eat animals, so we just eat animals.
no questions asked.. just recently i started to consider being vegetarian.

I did become anaemic when i was a vegan a home but then mum didn't know a thing about it at the time as everyone elso was staunch meat eaters!I eat cheese and have milk in things but don't like much dairy stuff but whenever i have had blood tests my results have been really good, even when not on vitamins. I just feel sorry for my dad, a vegetarian daughter (he had his own butchers shop!) and then she becomes a jw - he must have thought i was nuts!LOL

I was a veggie jw! no one said anything, only that one day we all might be veggie like before in the days of Adam and Eve as iin the new system we wouldn't need meat.I turned veggie at 12 (which didn't go down well as dad was a butcher!) then turned vegan at 15 (when he was a milkman lol!) but that didn't last a year, soya milk and chocolate - yuk!Still veggie but cook meat for hubby and boys, though hubby quite often asks for veggie meals as he thinks they're so tasty!

My D/A letter
by done4good inafter managing a successful fade, the long thread started by nvrgnbk made me think a bit.
up until then, i maintained a fairly hardline stance that the borg would need to d/f me if they really wanted me "out".
but then, i began to consider a few things.

I think that's a very good letter, short and to the point in a polite way. What i wrote in mine was simply that i no longer wanted to be one of jws, but thanked them for past support in matters and mentioned that i could not support the blood doctrine but there were ones i would always remain fond of, (i'm such a liar!lol) I didn't go into any other matters of doctrine although my husband wanted me to meet them and talk about it all, as i knew they would not listen and call me apostate so didn't see the point. Good luck, i needed to write and try to close that particular chapter of my life too, its not easy afterwards but i would send my letter again tomorrow, it was the best thing i could do for my family.
