I Was Going To Ask...
by deborahs_song ini was going to ask in the suggestion box if a forum for new posters who still believed in god and the bible could be formed here.
then it dawned on me that most probably the owner of this discussion board and most posters here would be opposed to that idea.. please, be honest.
would you rather those who believed in the bible and believed in the creator did not post here?

I think everyone has the right to post, whatever their beliefs/non beliefs are. I know sometimes people get a bit fired up over some topics but then again it would be very dull and jw like if we all agreed with each other. I don't believe in a God and don't want to, but i respect those that do, it is as much their right to believe as it is mine not to. To be honest unless the title is really interesting i never bother reading the beliefs threads anyway, and even though i admit there are a couple of questions i'd like to ask the christian believers i haven't as yet. I really do hope you stick around i have read some of your posts and you would be missed. Plus you've got my name as your identity, good choice!

I'm not sure if many jw will even know he was a jw, as apart from my mum every non jw me or hubs have mentioned this too have heard of the case but didn't realise he was a jw, that fact hasn't been recorded/reported on every paper. Hubby saw it in the paper but it didn't mention him being a jw, so i had to tell him.
Personally i think nothing will change...sigh

Is it ok to shun Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Missanna inlet me explain myself... for instance when your friends and family keep changing their minds... like my sister she didn't want to talk to me, then we started talking again and now she is back to shunning me.
same with my once best friend we were fine with each other's beliefs then one night she tells me in order to have god's favor she has to shun me.
now she's talking to me again.

Personally i feel that it is not in any way lowering yourself to their level! Its not a case of shunning them, its a case of trying to on move on with your life. Personally if i tried to talk with them and got ignored all the time it would make me feel like dog crap and i'd be an emotional wreck. There is ONE jw who has spoken to me since i left and i conversed back, but i have had this with my sis in law, first she said she'd speak, then it was only away from everyone but not in front of them (which i found harder than outright shunning cos you never know where you are), now its total shunning.
Do whatever you feel you can cope with right now, just leave them to make the first move (if they will ), and just look after yourself, make new friends. Ask yourself if you can keep putting up with being spoken to when they feel like it and ignored the rest of the time, hardly respectful is it?If you still want some contact with your family/friends was it your sister don't contact them but wait until they do, if you want to say hi then do that and leave it at that. For me personally i have to see several jws most days and being treated like dirt is not an option for me anymore, if they just said hi i'd say it back, but i'm not going to do it first as they blank me so whats the point and one reason i left was so i couldn't be made to feel worthless anymore so i won't let them.

We cut our electricity bill in half
by rebel8 inwe did it by reducing television and air conditioner usage, being more conservative about using the oven, getting rid of an old freezer, and changing our light bulbs.

I have started turning off all the plug socket switches when not in use so they are not in stand by mode, hopefully that'll save us a few quid!

You can come through it and make new friends , it will time though hun. You've got us as 'cyberfriends' to be going on with if you need to talk. x

tbh i felt like a misfit IN the organisation, i never belonged. Now i'm out no it hasn't been easy making friends etc esp for a quiet person like me but i've managed to do it. It does take alot of time and effort but its well worth it.
