glad i'm not alone truthsetsonefree! I used to like the last one as well and the one they always played in assembies. I just thought they were so different from the hymns we'd have at school/church. Some of them i found hilarious cos no one could sing them, but some were lovely, the music that is not the lyrics!

Snowbird that was my favorite song, then the wedding one lol. I remember i really wanted the wedding one about the threefold cord etc and the elder who was taking our wedding imposing the songs HE wanted to be sung at it! Can't even remember which one that was now i blotted it out along with the part where he mentioned hubby coming home from work and i would be waiting with his slippers lol (yeh right!). I admit tho some of the songs were pants i really loved some of the tunes, the hardest things to chuck out when i left the witnits was my orchestra cds of the melodies. Didn't anyone else like them or am i alone on this and should have kept quiet!x

disfellowshipped husband banned by inactive dad from house
by looloo inhi everyone , i have been absent for a year in an attempt to "move on" and have moved areas , have been harrassed by mormons loads in new are a but not a jw in sight !
has there been some new rules come out recentley regarding total shunning disfellowshipped family as my husband has been out now about 14 years and has so far never been banned from the house of his parents , but the other day his inactive dad asked him if he would mind not calling at theirhome anymore as it makes things awkward for his wife and jw children .
husband wanted to know why now after all these years ?

yeh it's right, i was told it had 'changed' again just after i d'ad nearly 2 yrs ago. I'm d'ad but hubbys mother etc refuse to even call at the door to see the grandkids (they didn't bother with them much anyway so its no loss) simply because of me. At the time they told hubby he could take them over there but i was not to go. Fortunately he has seen what a big pile of poo the whole thing is and doesn't go over there to see them. He just gets an 'i still love you ' text each birthday from her and that is it.
Strange thing is tho her other d in l is disfellowshipped but shepicked her upand took her clothes shopping for kids so i guess she always hated me anyway lol!
Tbh it hurts but the one time i let my then 4yr old go to a witness party he came home with a head full of rubbish and i know my kids are much better off away from all that. Hubbys inactive btw and she never phones him or anything. BUt she was never a proper mum to him anyway, my family are closer to him than his, sad but at least he knows he is loved and my mum treats him like a son.

I like Desperate Housewives and The Apprentice. They are probably the two programmes i try not to miss at the moment. Other than that, we only have one telly so it's usually got cartoons on or the ps2 games!

My JW Daughter's M-I-L Tries to Shun Me in Bank Parking Lot- Sad / Funny
by flipper inthe way the jehovah's witnesses treat us is so bizarre - you couldn't make this stuff up !

Sorry you've had a rough couple of weeks Mr Flipper. They're the ones missing out not us. I know what it's like, i get shunned daily. Doesn't bother me if they're not related but with hubby's family it's another story but i make sure i don't show it! At least the jws who live next door always throw the kids ball back over the fence for them so they are half human!

OCD help?
by coffee_black ini work with a woman who has a 15 year old son who has a very serious case of ocd.
after many months of seaching for help, he is now being treated by one of the foremost psychiatrists in the country who specializes in ocd.
she now has to find a behavioral therapist for him for the next step in his treatment, and is having difficulty getting an appointment...8 month waiting list on average.

Does the WTS say Facebook is a bad thing?
by lavendar in.
do the elders try to advise members against using facebook for some reason??
curious......

They should like facebook. My hubbys brother is a jw and his girlfriend (non jw) answered someone on his page and said they had a sexual relationship, so one of the other jws he added has reported him!Perfect way to spy on the flock!!

If they can shun......so can I
by KAYTEE inlet me first say that i believe in god, in jesus and the holy spirit.
therefore to hear the watchtower liken us who have been df, ( in our case asking questions about u.n. paedophiles 607 etc ) liken us to the first apostate the devil i find them judgmental in the extreme, not surprised but very offensive.. thanks to "flipper" with his thread i have decided to ban my brother in law from coming to my home, this year he intends to come over from spain where the need is great, ............the wine.and the beaches very nice too.. he is going to visit his mother who now because of dementia lives with us.. he will not be allowed on my premises at all, he will pick mum up at the front gate.. as a witness you must accept what the so called boffins tell you.. therefore if he can align himself with thinking that way, of his sister and myself then he is not welcome.. i will only accept him in my home when he gets out of her (babylon the great).

KT only you know the whole situation and your feelings on it all. All you need to do is make sure you are happy with whatever decision you make, so you feel fine with yourself. I think that whether we shun them back or not, it's something we each personally have to decide on, how much we've been affected by it all can determine that outcome. Personally now that i'm nearly 3 yrs old and happy about it if they spoke politely to me first, said hello in passing then i'd say hello back - but when it comes to hubbys step father who is a hideous person and his selfish mother they can get stuffed. You sound too nice to do it back to them tho, sometimes you can feel happy if you are bigger and better than them (even tho it's v hard sometimes!). Good luck with your situation x
