Evolutionary Future of Man
by gravedancer inon another thread i was asked by island woman about the potential future evolution of mankind ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=20456&site=3) so i went back into my dawkins archives and dug up this gem..
enjoy!!!.
evolution is widely regarded as a progressive force thrusting inexorably towards racial improvement, which may be seen as offering some tangible hope for our troubled species.

David Icke's site on JW Mind Contol
by Lindy inhas anyone seen this site about mind control and jehovah's witnesses?
great stuff!
of course, i find david iche and any of his sites anything but boring.. http://www.davidicke.net/mindcontrol/subliminal/jw/sjw091900.html.

Of course the WBTS uses mind control techniques.
But I'm sorry, this 'pictures of faces within a picture' stuff is just bollocks. It makes me angry because it may turn off questioning JWs. It will emphasise in their minds how wacky apostates are.
It is human nature to see faces in the world around us, my God, you'll be seeing faces in the rocks on Mars next!

by FreePeace inthere have been so many bible thumping posts lately, i thought i would offer an anti-bible article from my truthquest website.

You Know said:
<<So from Jehovah's standpoint it is not too terribly important whether someone lives a few ticks more or less.>>What!!! Just shows how callous you are.
(Then how come the bible is full of SCRIPTURES telling US how bad it is to kill each other?)
The bible was written by people of a different time - when life was cheap. Genocide in the name of god is just as good an excuse to get rid of the competition as any other.
Our ancesters invented god to control populations.
My morals are better than the people in the bible, and superior to god's.

Did you REALLY believe Armaggedon was coming?
by sleepy indid you ever really believe armaggedon was just about to happen?.

Absolutely, I was never more sure of anything in my life. Then I woke up and smelt what I was shovelling.
The special talk in February is on this topic. I bet they are trying to capitalise on Sept 11th – the halls were full for a few weeks after that event too.
Nothing beats getting bums on seats than a good disaster.
But it’s a constant cycle of disappointments that is beginning to take its toll – the brothers are SO tired, and many are realizing that they are in for the duration. (Just imagine a lifetime of dull meetings, pointless field service, and inane or dangerous beliefs). No wonder people are leaving.

So why did they do it? (UN)
by dmouse insorry if this has been covered before.. the standard response to the 'why?
' question from the wbts is that they needed a library card.. this has been debunked by many people who say that this is a lie - you do not have to be an ngo to gain access to the library.. so i ask this question of them: so why did they become an ngo of the un?
i mean, why risk the charge of hypocrisy that would surely arise when they were found out - they must have had a reason.

Sorry if this has been covered before.
The standard response to the 'why?' question from the WBTS is that they needed a library card.
This has been debunked by many people who say that this is a lie - you do not have to be an NGO to gain access to the library.
So I ask this question of them: So why DID they become an NGO of the UN? I mean, why risk the charge of hypocrisy that would surely arise when they were found out - they must have had a reason. It seems to me that wanting EASY access to the library is the most logical explanation.
(still makes em hypocrites though). -

Is Ray Franz still living?
by hungry4life ina friend of mine has been sharing her doubts about the organization with me for the last year.
she read both of ray franz's books and found that they were interesting and dealt with many of the questions she had.
she then wrote to the society anonymously and explained why she could not in good conscience preach regarding 1914 ( she used my p.o.

I have nothing against Ray, and I have bought a copy of his book: C of C. I also know nothing of his personal circumstances and it may not be his decision to remove copyright information.
However, there seems to be just a hint of hypocrisy in our response to Randy's news.
Ask yourself - how do we respond when the WBTS ask people to remove extracts of their literature from sites because of copyright? -

watchtower finances
by oscartheduck inif revenues for brooklyn bethel per year alone are equivalent to 951 million dollars, then this is about 158.5 per witness(given six million witnesses).. there's more money than that coming in worldwide, because of the other bethels in the world.. .
so, where does the money come from?
i think that should be checked into...or my maths should be checked into.. .

In the previous thread I think OUTLAW makes the point that the WBTS total (revealed) assetts are 951 BILLION. That's not yearly, but the total built up over the generations.
Last year the Society claimed to have spent only 70 million in financial aid to brothers working in the field. (Jan 1st Watchtower)So much for contributing to the world-wide work. The society is rolling in more money than they know what to do with, but you can bet the brothers world-wide won't get to see any benefit from it.
