Hmm, the system won't let me edit - says it's over the age limit!
Anyway, it should have read November = 119,455 October = 119,654

Well, the KM is a few months late in giving out the stats.
The KM for March gives us the stats for November 2001.
The overall figure for then is 119, pubs which is a drop of 199 publishers in a month.
These figures are for the UK. -

At Last the JW's come a-knockin'
by spacegirl inhad a really interesting experience with a jw that came knocking on sunday and have to say that i couldn't have dealt with him as well as i did if it had not been for new found knowledge on the web and spending the last four months reading.
oh that's were you are definitely wrong he says i've studied the bible thoroughly and there are definitely no contradictions at all.
i say thank you for your time, very interesting chat but i find it laughable that anyone could say the bible is not full of contradictions.

Hi Mr Magoo
I’m an atheist too now. My wife absolutely will not discuss JW issues, she finds it too threatening to her belief system.
For the sake of our marriage we have adopted a live and let live policy. Religion is not talked about unless she attacks me first (which she won’t do ‘cus I can wipe the floor with her in an argument, that’s not due to my skills but due to the truth I’ve found in sites like this).
Anyway, hang on in there because you never know, one day your wife may see the light.

Cool experience spacegirl.
I would LOVE to get the chance to have a discussion like that but they never call because my wife is a JW.
I think the UN issue would be a good one because most JWs are completely ignorant of the fact that the Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society were a registered supporter of the United Nations for over ten years.
I wouldn’t personally bring up blood (yuk) because it is such a complex issue and I would get confused by their smoke and mirrors. Contradictions – yes, the bible is full of them but they can all be explained with a little imagination and blind faith.

Make your predictions here. What will happen...
by sleepy inmake your prediction here.. so what do you think will happen to the society in the next ten years.. theres a big prize waiting here for anyone who gets it right.
a gaint chocolate cake!
which can only be eaten in ten years time.. so i make my prediction first.. 1.the society will have had a major doctrine change as to 1914 and 144,000.. 2.most will leave the org due to disillusionment.. 3.there will be a breakaway group of more fanatical witness they will be the orthodox witnesses.. there will also be a group of the liberal witnesses but will not last as long while the other group will grow.. do i win the cake?

My predictions:
1914 will definitely have to go, God! That’s another century away already!
The anointed will also fade away – a new class of ‘Chieftains’ will run the show.
A new understanding of what is meant by ‘on account of the chosen ones’ – no longer meaning the anointed but all faithful JWs (the end of the world will be postponed yet again).
The blood issue will become irrelevant as modern technology saves their asses.
Reporting hours will remain – it’s how they chose the ‘gifts in men’, the more hours you do the more ‘privileges’ you get.
However, the provision of remaining an active witness will be met by simply ticking a box which says that you have spent an undefined amount of time talking about Jehovah (i.e. to a neighbour) as this will help massage the figures, slowing decline for a while.
The internet will be heavily demonised, and while it won’t be explicitly banned all JWs will know that browsing the net at home is akin to watching pornography.
The Awake! Will be incorporated into the Watchtower magazine.
JW faith schools will start to open to stop pollution of youths by the world.Put that cake in the freezer!
Dean.

Thanks Ozzie.
I loved Morse, they are repeating it on TV (in the UK)at the moment.
I am too young to remember the flying squad but my all time favourite John Thaw character was Tom in 'Goodnight Mr Tom'.

..can't even pronounce it let alone spell it. I always thought it was e-shat-ology. I've thought for a long time that the likes of Youknow were Shat-ologists.
Anyway, no. I have a very positive outlook of the future. Sure, we could be wiped out like the dinosaurs but it's unlikely. I percieve the human race as gradually improving their lot - like they have for the last two hundred years. Eventually we will find cures for all the major illnesses and other problems (ie tribalism)and we will create our own paradise. I think the world will be an unrecognisably better place in 3 or 4 hundred years time - and it will be our doing not God's.

How about:
ALL religion is a racket and a snare.
I'm a goat - leave me alone.
JW choice = their way or the highway.
If you can read this apostate quote you're too close.
1914/1918/1925/1975/this generation/watch this space.
But JWs NEED a good BJob.

The New World Fantasy

Well said folks.
The jws have virtual orgasms when disasters happen - they love to see people diseased and dying as it validates their beliefs in the 'end-time' scenario. (oh and BTW good thread on that topic, Christfollower)
There are some really sick mindsets in JW land.
