Seriously though, I agree with you, there is precious little empathy sometimes and I don't like to see good people hurt. But there are lots of kind, intelligent, witty people here too and it's worth skipping the abusive stuff to interact with them.
I just ignore the other stuff, filter it out.

another newbie
by desertflower inguess i've been lurking long enough.
been about 2 yrs or longer.. take a lot of nerve for the first post.my husband and i both left.
together although he knew long before i did.

The Night Shift
by Prisca inman it's quiet this time of the night - the bulk of this board's posters are asleep in their little beds, although the early risers might be starting their first cups of coffee.. there's a smattering of aussies & poms who cruise the board at this time of the night, but being a friday night, many aussies would probably be out socialising or doing something with their families.
i'm not doing anything tonight, that's why i'm here and posting.
rather bored, myself, although i have a busy weekend ahead of me.

Hi Prisca, had that shower yet? Sitting at the keyboard in your wet towel, making the seat all moist? ;)
It's the middle of the day here in the UK at the mo, and I've just done the weekly shopping.
I'm a (mature!?)student so I get long holidays, which is why I'm about on the board at the minute. I've got a lot of assignments to do though which I should really be working on. :(

They just believe it applies to everyone else except them.
They are the 'Truth' after all, so they get a special exemption certificate.
Apostate: So let me get this straight, you admit that the Society makes false prophecies, causes the death of thousands through misguided health edicts, protects paedophiles, acted hypocritically by becoming a registered supporter of the UN and generally screws peoples lives; and you still think it's the truth?

Anyone tried getting on a talk show?
by sleepy ini'm not sure what you call them elsewhere, but has anyone tried getting on a tv show where they debate different subjects.. in britian we have kilroy on bbc in morning and anthor one on itv.. every now and then they do one on the subject of cults etc.. maybe some of us could write to one of these shows and try and get on .

I remember the mother of one of the families blaming Satan for their car breaking down.
Oh yeah, I remember that, something about Satan stopping her from getting to the meeting! LOL.
The point is though that most of the talk shows require both sides of the story, so you need some JWs to make a debate possible.

The girl's two sisters and mother support her stand against the transfusions, while her father has consented to them and says he is now shunned by the Jehovah's Witnesses as a result.
Whatever happened to the edict that no action would be taken against JWs who decided that their conscience would allow them to have a blood transfusion?
