can anyone here post the exact link to the page that has the wt listed as an ngo and who their contact person(s) are?

i'm gathering information about this.

i want documentation so that when the subject comes up with my jw relatives and they try and deny it, i can blow them out the water.

Unfortunately the UN has now disassociated the WBTS at their request, so the WBTS no longer appears on the current UN website.

However, there is a site which has a permanent record of all sites - a sort of snapshot. You can see the UN site as it existed before the name of WBTS was removed.

I choose to look at the site as it was in Oct 2001.
Once on the site click in the top right hand corner where it says DPI/NGO directory.

My daughter (11) and the U.N.

she said to me the reason the watchtower was involved with the u.n. was because two bad brothers signed up without the wt knowing about it.

can someone tell me what they are feeding these kids?

i am asking in a polite form, contrary to my feelings!

An elder told my 14 year old son that the WBTS was forced to join because it was the law for international religions!

Jeez, it seems like the Society ain't telling nothing unless specifically asked so the elders are having to make up their own excuses. An elder that came to visit to invite me to the memorial had never even heard of the issue - he refused to believe it. Then, another elder later let slip that they had discussed it in an elder's meeting when they were discussing the visit (at least I was mentioned in dispatches!)I would have loved to see that elders face when another elder confirmed that an apostate knew more about his religion than he did!
The Organisation is following its usual policy of 'ignore it and it'll go away'. Unfortunately for them the policies that worked before the Interent was available won't work nearly so well now.

Tonites bookstudy

it took everything i had to stay seated thru the bookstudy tonite, i felt like getting up and leaving.

the fact that i'm the designated reader did'nt make matters any better either.

i'm not sure how many people on the forum have the isaiah's prophecy book but if you do have a copy check out chapter 21.. chapter 21 in paragraphs 3 talks about how enemies of the israelites (pharoah, nebuchadnezzar)were compelled to acknowledge that jehovah was with his people.

Of course you do realise, six, that you may have inadvertently introduced a new JW urban legend into the pot?

I mean, Johnny JW Lurker may have only caught the first few replies and is busy spreading this story amongst the congregations as we speak; building everybody’s faith in Jehovah’s wonderful Organisation.

And we all know that once there these legends get dug in deeper than an Alabama tick.

hey all,.

i was reading some shtuff on history and it sez that forks were not widely used until 1750 because the religious said that 'if god wanted us to use forks he would not have given us fingers'.

so is it true that the fork was brought upon mankind to make them stumble and draw away from god by insulting him by using forks and not fingers?

beginning over a hundred years ago with the sincerely misguided (albeit egotistical) pastor russell on down to todays corporate incarnation of jehovahs mouthpiece otherwise known as the governing body of jehovah's witnesses, all of the leaderships crimes can be traced to a single kernel of untruth that lies at the very heart of this ungodly organization.

a typical expression of this single but immense seed of falsehood is clearly seen in the following quote, typical of thousands made in the watchtower over the years:... if we fall into the habit of ... ignoring counsel from jehovah through .

At the heart of this issue is the most dangerous commodity known to Man:

Knowledge.

Knowledge by itself is neutral, it is truth. A truly honest person, someone who really wants to find the truth, will not be afraid of knowledge.

Its danger lies in its ability to affect our hearts. For those that do not want the truth, who are content with what they believe and desperately want to avoid any change in their paradigm, will avoid knowledge that conflicts with it.

Some go further than that. Some will become so convinced that theirs is the one true way, and so afraid of knowledge that might destroy that illusion, that they forbid others to seek out relevant knowledge or have any real discourse with people with differing views.

That is why the Society forbids its followers to look at any literature that contains knowledge that conflicts with their world-view.

They are afraid of the truth.

A dubbie next door.

my next door neighbours have a dubbie come and trim their trees every year.

he has come to know me as a lovely lady (acting is my greated gift) who has some jw connections.

it doesn't appear to have entered his head that i might be an............ apostate!

I can't help wondering why good dubbies have to wander our Western suburban streets like restless spirits every few months

Kinda reminds me of those old horror films where the zombies wander around trying to turn other people into zombies.

Borganisation: It's like a virus, to survive it has to continually find new hosts.

Does the JW religion have any friends?

In any case, I think most R&F dubs will dismiss the whole thing as 'apostate lies' or 'Satan's attacks' because of course they have the 'Truth' and they are bound to be attacked.

It never ceases to amaze me how often the Society fall head first into the shit and come up smelling of roses.

Mind you, I've heard it said that 'every man loves the smell of his own fart' so they only come up smelling sweet to those still trapped within the system.

...and, that's not to say Armageddon ain't just around the corner.
When the society realised that Armageddon wasn't going to come within the lifetime of those born in 1914 they had to do a quick re-think, and re-interpret the word 'generation'. At that time they said that they would no longer be setting dates or time limits for the time of the end.

However, the new understanding of the word 'generation' could stretch the 'time of the end' out indefinitely. Plummeting field service and meeting attendance gave the society the message that JW's just won't work as hard without the threat of imminent destruction.

So, time for the society to fall back to plan B. Reading my wife's assembly notes from last summer informs me that the society is plugging Matthew 24:22, that 'those days' (the tribulation) will be 'cut short on account of the chosen ones.' This means that, according to the Witnesses, Armageddon MUST come while some of the anointed are still alive.
It appears that great play was made at the assembly about the fact that most of the remnant are now very old; so Armageddon is once again put inside a time frame when it MUST occur: within the lifetime of very old anointed ones.

Yep, RunningMan is right, the Society no longer link the 'generation' to 1914.

We do not need to know the exact timing of events. Rather, our focus must be on being watchful, cultivating strong faith, and keeping busy in Jehovah’s service—not on calculating a date.
Eager to see the end of this evil system, Jehovah’s people have at times speculated about the time when the “great tribulation” would break out, even tying this to calculations of what is the lifetime of a generation since 1914. However, we “bring a heart of wisdom in,” not by speculating about how many years or days make up a generation, but by thinking about how we “count our days” in bringing joyful praise to Jehovah. (Psalm 90:12) Rather than provide a rule for measuring time, the term “generation” as used by Jesus refers principally to contemporary people of a certain historical period, with their identifying characteristics.
