  Do you have hope for mankind?

  let me start off by acknowledging that my current mood/thoughts reflect the fact that ive watched a few documentaries recently (blackfish, surviving progress, etc.

  ) and they got me thinking about the future of mankind.

  mainly the question, do i hold out hope for the future of mankind?.

  It's funny, I just heard on NPR that Elon Musk, the CEO of spaceX and creator of the Tesla car was very afraid of artificial Intelligence. Personally I think we are a long way from being threatened by AI.

  i do apologize for my extreme ignorance, but i am curious.. who the hell are honey boo boo, sugar bear and mama june??.

  and more to the point.. why the hell are some americans so obsessed with them?.

  i just don't get it.. .

  It's horrible, I could only watch like sixty seconds of it. Honey boo boo was a contestant in child beauty pagents on a show called Toddlers and Tiaras. I guess they figured that anyone willing to watch a four year old with wigs, full makeup and big hair perform on stage like a trained seal would be interested in watching this train wreck. I am an American and I don't get it.

  their beliefs and practice's don't tally- tonights book study

  tonights book study in part is about jesus throwing out the merchants and money lenders in the temple... how do they manage to tally that up with asking for funds for all their various projects?

  it seems hardly a meeting goes by without some kind of money plea?

  don't they realise that they are doing the same thing that jesus got so angry about and threw out of the temple?

  There is a story about a wife who comes home to find her husband in bed with another woman. The other woman gets dressed and leaves and the husband gets dressed and pretends nothing happened. The wife is upset and says "why were you cheating on me?" He responds "I wasn't cheating on you". She says "But I saw you with another woman in bed". He says "who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?"

  This is how mind control works. They are constantly reinforcing the idea that they are so much better than other religions, to the point that it becomes hard for people to see the reality, that actually they are much worse. They also are constantly telling people that they cannot trust their own judgement, that they are sinful and weak, that they need those men in Brooklyn to tell them what is right and wrong. People dismiss the hypocrisy they see, or minimize it, or make excuses, because to face the reality is too overwhelming and goes against everything they have been conditioned to believe.

  Jehovah may choose to overlook certain minor
  failings.

  What about failings that are not minor? I cannot imagine the average JW risking everything because of a "minor failing" on the part of some elder. And why do elders get a pass? I think most JWs are shocked when they find out the hard way that there is a double standard. While they would be disciplined for a major sin, the old boys network of the elder body are held to a different standard. Of course the individual wants something to be done, they have been told that "Jehovah's Organization" doesn't do these things, why wouldn't they expect wrongdoing to be fixed. Hypocrisy at its finest.

  This could be likened to a patient who loses out on the
  benefits of a treatment because he does not like something about
  the doctor.

  And if the doctors shows up for your surgery drunk, would it be foolish to object ? Why would anyone take advice from an elder that doesn't follow basic bible principles of honesty and integrity.

  i am here for the first time ...but have enjoyed reading others experiences that i feel i can relate too.

  i used to be an elder for more than 20 years .

  i have successfully faded with my wife and children.

  Find What Your Social Status Was in the Congregation

  ever notice how the "happiest people on earth" are also the most class-oriented?

  the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:.

  1. at the top of the social order of things within the congregation is of course, the presiding overseer and his family.

  I was mostly a seven, disfellowshipped husband, missed more meeting than I made. No college, but I think I veered into eight territory when I got a promotion to a systems analyst position. God forbid a lowly sister had a corporate job.

  A question that bugging me

  why it has been deemed appropriate to assign brothers and sisters in each international convention city to spend hours and hours making souvenir grab bags full of knick-knacks.

  and to assign other brothers and sisters to spend hours and hours preparing choreography, music, lighting, costumes and props, and practicing and practicing cowboy songs, pop music, dance and jw.org skits.. .

  and to assign other brothers and sisters to spend hours and hours constructing giant bibles popping out of jw.org boxes and giant bibles turning into baptismal pools.. .

  I think they realize that many JWs that grew up in the organization feel no connection to it and see the JW life as being devoid of fun, which it is, no holidays, no traditions, no get togethers, nothing positive to remember. Conventions are bland, boring and meaningless. I think they are trying to do things that will stand out and be remembered in a positive way. Yes, they are desperate.

  Pope says Big bang and Evolution are correct !

  " the theories of evolution and the big bang are real and god is not a magician with a magic wand, pope francis has declared.. speaking at the pontifical academy of sciences, the pope made comments which experts said put an end to the pseudo theories of creationism and intelligent design that some argue were encouraged by his predecessor, benedict xvi.. francis explained that both scientific theories were not incompatible with the existence of a creator arguing instead that they require it.. when we read about creation in genesis, we run the risk of imagining god was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything.

  but that is not so, francis said.. he added: he created human beings and let them develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one so they would reach their fulfilment.. the big bang, which today we hold to be the origin of the world, does not contradict the intervention of the divine creator but, rather, requires it.. evolution in nature is not inconsistent with the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve.. the catholic church has long had a reputation for being anti-science most famously when galileo faced the inquisition and was forced to retract his heretic theory that the earth revolved around the sun.. but pope franciss comments were more in keeping with the progressive work of pope pius xii, who opened the door to the idea of evolution and actively welcomed the big bang theory.

  I wonder if eventually even the JWs and other creationist type religions will concede that evolution is fact. Of course they won't announce it, just quietly stop publishing anti evolution materials and pretend they never believed otherwise. They haven't updated the evolution book, probably with good reason, their explanations are laughable now that we know so much more about the subject, the DNA evidence alone is overwhelming. They are starting to look like flat earthers at this point.

  because god was mad at them for turning away from the wt.
