Songs celebrating leaving the faith? Not being a puppet, mind controlled, living life, etc etc
by aley63 ini am looking for some songs that are in ref to celebrating leaving, seeing the light, realizing what you were told wasnt right, being happy w your life, etc etc.
all those emotions about being controlled and repressed, being told what you can feel or think or how to live, blindly following the "brotherhood ".

Good one, village idiot. I was still a JW when that song was popular, it did strike me at the time that I was losing my religion. -

The GB, Black Magicians?
by What is Truth? inwould you consider the members of the governing body of jw's to be in black magicians in the modern world?
for your consideration their effects in society.. 6.2 black magic spells.
in black magic, the priests cast spells: they recite formulas, conduct rituals, make magic items.

There is no such thing as black magic, you don't need that, just people who know how to manipulate others, just like every cult. I am pretty sure there are in actuality a few people running the show, the rest are idiots who are just as, or even more manipulated than the rank and file. If Lett is anything more than a stooge, he deserves an award for acting.
It may make you feel better to think this is some other worldly machination, but really it is quite easy to fool people who want to be fooled, or who gain something by buying into a concept. People who became JWs were concerned by world events and and/or wanted to think they had special knowledge. Everything in their playbook is cult 101, nothing mysterious, doesn't require anything other than a will to use others for their own ends. Who knows what that end is, but it's likely quite banal, like financial security or a need to control others.
Just a$$holes in the end.

Elders, disfellowshipping, & baseball umpires
by sir82 inok bear with me for second on this one..... i was just reading the other day about "pitchf/x", a type of technology that can accurately track whether a pitch in baseball is a ball or a strike.. a couple of analysts went over 6 years of baseball data.. it turns out that umpires are wrong about balls & strikes about 14% of the time.
what they call a "ball" is really a "strike" about 13% of the time, and what they call a "strike" is really a "ball" about 15% of the time.
here is the article.. that's at the major league level.. umpires have to work their way up to the major leagues, just as players do.

And the real kicker is that really good people are sometimes not good at saying the right thing, or may be too depressed to be able to say much, while some others are great at lying and acting repentant, so the percentage is probably far worse than that.
That's even supposing they are entitled to judge anyone's else repentance in the first place. The bible just says you shouldn't associate with anyone called a Christian who engages in immoral behavior. It doesn't say it's a formal arrangement, just something you would do if you know yourself that someone is engaging in a long term practice of sin. Nowhere does it say a committee is formed, or three people get to judge you for making a mistake. As Jesus said "let him who is without sin cast the first stone". There is no determining of repentance, repentance is shown by stopping the behavior.
Nothing in the bible indicates that people are disposable, that they can be cut off from family and friends at the whim of a few elders. They don't even give people a chance to repent, but act as judge, jury and executioner. The person then has to live with being shunned for a year or more before they will even be talked too, all the while going to meetings and being humiliated on a weekly basis. Finally they may be allowed in, if they kiss enough butt to "prove" their repentance.
Many can't stomach that level of humiliation and give up, and who could blame them? The worst sin in the bible is stumbling one of your own brothers, so who is really the sinner in this equation?

merk ch 16 says all believers of jesus will perform miracles....
by sowhatnow in15 he said to them, go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
16 whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
17 and these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.. 19 after the lord jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of god.

Sounds to me that statements in the bible shouldn't be taken literally
Ya think? 71 people have died handling snakes as part of a religious ritual, usually in a Pentecostal church of some sort.

Reading this might be hard.. Emotionally.. This is the truth...
by Jaewook kim inevery second our watch ticks, thats frequency of our current time.
the frequency will hit our reality every 1 second.. same method for rainbow frequency.. this is where i need your scientists.
need confirmation of change on fact of time.. and this... is truth of jehovah.... under sugar water, blue light will appear on left side.. under salt water, red light will appear on right side.. this concept is same for our heart.

Life after JW
by bsand20 inhaven't been on this site since fall of last year.
i was very active in spreading awareness and getting information to help me cope with the fact that my mother cut off complete communication with me as of jan 2014, but i guess too much of a good thing was too much for me to handle.
i ended up getting panic/anxiety attacks.

I highly recommend meditation. It has been life changing for me and has been proven to reduce stress, lower blood pressure and help with anxiety and depression. Control your breathing and you control your emotions, it's really that simple
I also recommend journaling. Sit down every day and write down everything that is in your head. Don't filter, just write three pages. After a while you will start to see a theme, those thoughts and triggers that are bothering you.
These two things will help you sift through your conflicting thoughts and emotions and help you deal with them. Someone once said that it's not what happens to you that causes problems, it's how you feel about what happens to you. As ex JWs, we can usually do nothing about the hand we were delt, but we can control our feelings and emotions about what has happened.
I hope that helps, feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

July 29th is my fifteenth wedding anniversary, we are going to Eureka (northern Califoria coast) and staying at a bed and breakfast. It's been busy summer, so a few days by the ocean is something to look forward to. -

The Confederate Flag
by Simon inthe latest controversy over the confederate flag just sums up to me the state of dysfunction that exists in american society.. in summary: a white supremacist nutter shoots 9 black people dead in a church.
he's clearly inspired by the messages of others which the confederate flag is often a symbol of.. it seems like a no-brainer to remove it.
not only isn't it removed, it isn't even lowered at all as a mark of respect.. and of course now there are the people who want to defend their right to have it.

m not suggesting anything. I posted a random link in response to your preposterous assertion that white people randomly kill black people and are not held accountable. I continue to love the level of insanity that racist propaganda degrades to...
Oh good grief, I didn't post anything like that. I don't think you read my whole post. I was responding to a poster who said white men were often killed by black men and nothing was done. I was asking for an example of that. I did leave out a word that might have made it more clear, but if you read it context it is not a post defending white racism, it's the opposite.
