My husband had frequent bouts with vertigo. There is a procedure you can do yourself to readjust the crystals that are usually the problem, it works for him.

Tread carefully, very carefully. Don't tell her anything diectly, as it will only put her on the defensive. It's better if you just ask her to help you understand something. Pick something small, not a major doctrine, something you might feel she might not automatically take the Watchtower s side. For example, if she loves children you could bring up the two witness rule when it comes to child abuse. Say that it bothers you that a child abuse victim might be asked to confront the abuser, and ask her if she feels the same.
You might wait until a situation presents itself, and have a few potential topics to talk about. Don't be confrontational, or show your disappointment if she did sent see your side right away. Drop it and wait for a better time.
This is all extremely difficult, but some have managed to get their spouse out with them, so it's possible.

SDA church general conference has voted NO on womens ordination and now there is a big fight
by barry inlast wednesday the question was put 'can unions ordain women as ministers in the sda church?
the vote was defeated yes 41.35 to no 58.45.. the dutch churches responded quickly saying they won't be changing there policy and will continue to ordain women.. the north american division and the two conferences in california have women pastors that are already ordained.. the sda pastors in china are mostly women.. the internet is running hot with opinions one way or the other.
here is how millennials feel about there church at this point most are studying at an sda university.

Interesting. I am fascinated with this religion because they are like JWs in some ways, but a lot more flexible and liberal in others. My grandson attended SDA school all his life (long story), it seemed to be a positive experience for him. He wanted to go to an SDA college with the goal of becoming a minister, but it was way too expensive, my daughter is not SDA so couldn't see financing it. He is currently in the Air Force with the goal of getting tuition help for a degree and then going on to SDA graduate school. I will ask him what he thinks about this issue. -

People may not leave over these kinds of things, but they don't forget either. They will vote with their pocketbooks and the Watchtower will eventually run out of income streams to tap into, you cannot get blood out of a turnip.
The more desperate the Watchtower gets and the more harsh the shake down becomes, the more people will be turned off and deaf to the demands. I stopped contributing years before I left, I am sure other will do the same.

The end of a Chinese 'nail' house
by fulltimestudent indisputes between residents of resumed property in china, often become dramatic, as in these two cases.. .
these problems are not unique to china, but can arise in any society when the community (government) wants to use the land on which a house stands for somethings different (e.g.
a new school, roads, railways, etc).

We had a weird situation in our little town. The city used state redevelopment funds to start building a joint retail/low income rental property. The property was to be managed by a company previously owned by a city manager. The whole deal fell apart when the City manager got sick. An interim city manager realized the former city manager never sold the business, it was supposedly owned by his daughters, who were in college, but he was running it and gave himself a sweetheart deal. Then the recession hit, the state redevelopment money dried up and the City didn't have the money to complete it. The building was finally sold at a considerable loss, to a developer, but they then realized they had never secured egress rights from the adjacent home owners association, which they needed to complete the sale. The neighbor hoa was still upset the project had gone from two to three stories, dwarfing the adjacent homes, with no buy in from them and simply refused to grant right of way. Eventually the city pursued eminent domain and five years later the property is finally being finished.

@ RC: "For evolution to be true..."
by Scully inaccording to a jw contact, one of the speakers at the regional conventiontm stated that "for evolution to be true, two of the same kind would have had to evolve at the same time; one would have to be male and the other would have to be female, and then they would have to find each other".
apparently the crowd had a good laugh over how evolutionists overlook such a simple "fact".. i mentioned that bacteria and viruses use asexual reproduction, and that many sea creatures / fish, etc.
are hermaphrodite and do not require a sexual partner to produce offspring.. oddly enough, the conversation stopped there.

This is similar to the argument they make about the eyeball, that half an eyeball is useless, so how could eyes have evolved? It's a straw man argument, saying evolution teaches eyes evolved as they are in humans and all at once then calling it impossible, so then everyone nods their head and think how much smarter they are than silly scientists.
The reality is there are organisms that live in the ocean with a very crude version of an eye ball that simply sees the difference between light and dark. This gives them an advantage over organisms with no sight as they can see that a predator is approaching. From that point on anything that improved sight was an advantage to survival and would get passed on.
Sexual reproduction is no different. Early versions of sexual reproduction was very simple, but gave an advantage because mixing DNA was an advantage over non sexual reproduction. It gradually become more complex as organisms became more complex.

Interesting article about Serena and her faith in the Washington Post. I can't copy it, but it said that her faith is at odds with her profession and that she was chastised by the elders for supposedly threatening a line judge who disqualified her.
Yet she says her faith is very important to her. It's a contradiction.

The evolution of sex
Although bacteria simply multiply by dividing into two, they also often exchange genetic material, usually by releasing small fragments called plasmids which can be absorbed by nearby bacteria. In this way, beneficial mutations are shared. This might arguably be considered to be the earliest form of sex.
After the appearance of plants and animals in the oceans around 600 million years ago, the only practical way for these new multi-celled sea-creatures to reproduce was by releasing seeds or eggs, whose cells would then begin dividing, sticking together, and changing each time they divided, until finally forming a new adult.
