Un-freaking-believable. It's all OK, the pedophile can be an elder as long as the child rape is not well known. WTF?

Biblical Proof that JW Elders can not have Jehovah's or Jesus Spirit
by GodZoo insomething just occured to me.. like a lightening bolt in fact.
matthew 10:19 just popped into my head... new american standard bible 18 and you will even be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the gentiles.
19 "but when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.

No doubt they thought if they just explained how everything was based on the bible, and done per the societies instruction, everyone would just understand that they did nothing, wrong and all the problems would just go away because God is on their side after all.
It must have been a bit of a shock to see that they just ended up looking stupid and people seem to think they should have done something more to protect the innocent, big shocker. I wonder how long it will take for them to figure it out.

John Amos:It is stated that where the law is to report such matters then the elders abide by and do so and where the law does not require to report such matters they (the elders) do not do so, then the question is asked as to why they (the elders) don’t report these matters when it is not mandatory by the law…my question is why are there places that do not make it mandatory law to report all such cases???
Most places do have such laws at this point in time, but this case isn't about the legal system, but about Jehovah's Witnesses, and this is a discussion board about the Jehovah's Witnesses, not legal system. The Watchtower claims to be directed by God, so the question is why didn't the elders do the right thing and contact the police, even when not required to do so? If an elder was told that someone committed murder should he not contact the police? Common decency and morality should prompt any person to report criminal matters to the authorities. The JWs claim to obey Caesars law, they should have reported it even before the mandated reporting laws took effect.
I am not aware of any case where the WTS/GB/elders are said to be guilty of not reporting such matters in areas where it is mandatory to do so…so in that regard they have a 100% compliance record for reporting these cases to the law when it is mandatory to do so. So why should there not be an equal amount of out rage directed toward states/cities/countries, etc… that do not currently require cases to be reported???
So because you are not aware of it it couldn't have happened? That's laughable. I actually personally know of such cases. In any event, why does there have to be a law to make elders do the right thing? This is supposed to be an organization that is God's sole channel of communication with mankind, so why didn't God direct them here? In addition, the "outrage" is on them because they:
A) Codemned the Catholic church for hiding pedophile priests while pretending to all they didn't have any problem with child sex abuse,( or if they do just a tiny, tiny amount, very few, almost unheard of etc.) All while maintaining a database of 47,000 names of the accused.
B) Forced victims to confront their abusers, or accused them of immorality, or ignored them completely and discouraged victims and families from contacting the authorities.
C) Allowed child rapists to be reinstated into the congregation with no effort made to warn parents that there are pedophiles on the congregation and in many cases even allowed them to be reappointed as elders. Why would a man who raped a child ever be appointed as an elder?
Obviously the commission in Australia is outraged, so the question is not why we are outraged, but why aren't YOU outraged John Amos?
People who say they care about protecting the children but have a ax to grind with the WTS/GB only focus in their crosshairs the WTS/GB/elders when speaking of being responsible for policies for protecting children but where are all the voices and rants condemning states/cities/countries, etc… where cases are not reported due to them not being states/cities/countries, etc…that mandate such???
Again, this is not a legal discussion board. Why does the Watchtower only do the right thing when legally compelled to do so? Why do they treat child rape the same as any other sexual immorality? Why do they think elders, who have little education and no training in sex abuse, are qualified to determine if a child has been abused? If we have an axe to grind it's because we see innocent victims and what this organization has done to people, all while pretending they care about victims and hate child abuse. Their words say one thing, their actions say quite another. It's the lying and hypocrisy that is hard to take, especially from an organization that pretends to be the only true religion.
If that were the case and that were done (mandate all) then based on the WTS/GB/elders record for reporting these cases… then there would be 100% compliance record for reporting these cases across the board.
You are delusional that elders report abuse 100% of the time, they don't. From the many cases I have seen, sometimes they don't believe the child, or know the elder personally and can't believe they would do such a thing, or don't want or are not prepared to deal with it, and so they don't even form a JC, so no record whatsoever. My best friend accused her elder father of molesting her many years before, when she was a child. Not only did they not form a JC, she was threatened with being disfellowshipped herself if she talked about it. Who knows how many cases there are like that? The Watchtower knows good and well these policies aren't working, because they have paid out millions in settlements, but they stubbornly stick to their ridiculous two witness rule, based on one scripture in the bible. They could simply change policy and find another scripture to justify it, like any of their other doctrine flip flops, but they refuse to do so.
You have to ask yourself why that is

Need Help! JW Grandmother (may be) Going to Court for Visitation
by Expanded-Mind ini am hoping someone may be able to give me some guidance on behalf of my son.
my ex-wife, who remains a jw, is threatening to go to court to get visitation with our 5 year old grandchild.
she had regular visits with our grandchild, but when my son (no longer a jw) and his wife (never a jw) found out that his mother was teaching their daughter the jw religion without their permission and even telling our grandchild not to tell their parents... well to say the least, that was a game-changer.

It's her own fault that she tried to brainwash the child, she is probably just trying to deflect attention away from her own actions by bluffing about a lawyer. It's very, very unlikely the court will award visitation against a parents wishes, and certainly not in this scenario. A few have tried, but not many suceed. If she wants to waste money on lawyers, well then you will have to hire one as well, but I think after she cools down and actually visits a lawyer she will think twice about spending thousands of dollars with little chance she will win.

Going to a bad place when i die
by 060702015 ini've thought and said too much to ever gain jehovahs forgiveness and love if i want to be a christian again.
i made a topic on my unforgivable sin and blaspemy of the holy spirit.. i feel saddness everyday having no relationship with god, no religion and fear of the afterlife.
even when i was kid i feared death and the end of the world.

I am so sorry you feel that way.
First, the bible says we are all imperfect, and God is a just God, so why do you feel that you have done something so unforgivable that God would not forgive you? I don't mean for you to tell me, but, come on, everybody makes mistakes. Do you remember the prodigal son in the bible? He did all kind of horrible things, despite a loving father, yet he was warmly welcomed when he came home.
The JWs have it pretty much all wrong anyway, so if you feel bad because of them, forget about it. They do not represent God. You are engaging in the black and white thinking that they love, but it's just nonsense. They cover up child sexual abuse, so that tells you how much they speak for God. If there is such a thing as an unforgivable sin they have done it by appointing pedophiles to be elders and making date predictions that are all wrong, and making perfectly nice people feel wrong for not living up to impossible standards.
Pray for forgiveness then get on with your life, leave this stupid cult and free yourself from the guilt, it isn't helping you.

There is nothing wrong with crying, it's a good start actually. It shows you understand the totality of what has been done to you. It usually takes a while to get to that stage, there is often a certain amount of denial at first. Now you can start fresh and begin to move on and heal.

New York Post. Jehovah's Witnesses hid over 1000 sex abuse cases

i hope many people see this information.

This is great. Of course they have already warned people not to believe the media, that it's just Satan attacking them, but not every one will fall for that. It might also make field service uncomfortable. People used to think JWs were that strange religion that didn't celebrate Christmas, now they will think of it as that strange religion that protected pedophiles.

JW Hatred and Elders Apathetic Manners Drove Me Here! Why are JWs fooled in to thinking the WTS Cares?
by Judas Maccabee infor years i've been screwed with by some very bad people, people satan would kick out of his organization because even the devil might let up on evil just to allow someone to catch their breath.
with the jwism's bad people move up while good people move down or leave the kingdom hall for good.
i was talking with two elders who said "you know if you return to the kingdom hall, jehovah will bless you and these people will stop screwing with you.

Welcome!
There is a saying that goes: All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
Jehovah need's his financial support
Right, the all powerful creator of the universe needs money? Why would a just God allow an evil person to flourish because he needed the money? Sounds like an ineffectual, weak God to me. The bible says that God could make the stones cry out, yet he is powerless to stop an abusive person in his own organization? Rationalize much? The Watchtower criticizes other religions for less than this. Guess what, this kind of behavior proves this religion does not have God's backing.
I dont know of any way to leave, live your life with integrity and not get the apostate label. It's very hard to maintain a double life, it takes a toll on you physically, mentally and emotionally. What is holding you back from leaving? Are you afraid your wife will leave you? That is a valid fear. Some have left and convinced their spouse to leave also, but it's very difficult, especially if your wife checks up on you like that, it doesn't sound as if she would be open to it.
Proceed with caution.

Many Jehovah's Witnesses are nice, as then tend to attract honest hearted people looking for a better life. Unfortunately they have been manipulated using cult mind control. Before you get further involved you owe it to yourself to learn more about the religion and cults and how they work. I suggest JW facts.com and howcultswork.com as a starting point.
The Watchtower Bible and Tract society, the legal entity behind Jehovah's Witnesses, is very dishonest about their history and practices. They have predicted the end of the world numerous times, most notably in 1914 and 1975. They then pretend they never predicted any such thing. JWs are told to not trust any source but them, they are especially told not to talk to former members, as we are "mentally diseased apostates". Our crime is not believing the Watchtower is God's only channel of communication for mankind, or doing things most people consider normal, like voting, saluting the flag or celebrating Christmas. We all have family and friends who will not talk to us because we left the religion.
We frequently see people post here in similar situations to you. JWs may leave the group and do things they are my allowed to while in the religion. They may fall in love and get married outside the religion. Unfortunately they often start feeling guilty and/or miss their family and friends and so go back as your boyfriend has. This is very hard on their marriage or relationship.
If you get married and have children, how will you feel about them being raised in the religion and not allowed to celebrate birthdays and Christmas? How will you feel about him going to five hours of services every week plus going out in the door to door work every Saturday? Every JW has an obligation to do these things. How will you feel about your spouse refusing a blood transfusion for himself or your children? What if you break up and he convinces your children to join the group? Marriage is hard enough without all these complicating factors, so think about what that might mean for you.
I know it must be heart breaking to have this happen, but be very careful before proceeding with a relationship with this man. Make sure you understand what you are getting into.

Manipulating people by predicting doom is hard. You have to walk a fine line between making people believe the end is really soon (so you think you need them to save you) and actually predicting a specific date, which inevitably proves you are just making things up. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is pretty good at this, and why not, they have been doing it for over a hundred years. They lead people to make assumptions, then pretend it wasn't their fault that you made assumptions.
They have gotten away with it so far, but being a doomsday cult is not what it used to be The internet makes it hard to hide things and people are just not as gullible as they used to be. The generation teaching is a weak point for them. They have redefined it to the point of being absurd. People buy it, sort of, because they don't have much choice, but it has to be a question mark for a lot of people, they may not leave right now, but they may start to be less invested in the religion, miss some meetings, skip field service more and contribute less.
