I saw my mom about 4 months before she died. I went to visit her along with my DA sister ( I was neither, but left the truf and my husband and married another). She sent me a letter after saying she enjoyed my visit, could see I was happy. She said she wished she could have told me to leave my ex-husband but felt she couldn't (news flash - yes you could). But she wanted to die with a clean conscience, so couldn't talk to me anymore. It was very sad. I didn't contact her again and I heard later whe wondered why no one called - WTF??? She died quickly so I wouldn't have had a chance to see her anyway - but it's sad. I could have called, we could have talked. Just the sort of mind f==== the WTBS causes. Her natural desire to see her 2 daughters fought with the brainwashing that told her it was wrong. At least we got to go to the *memorial service*. It could have been worse, based on the stories here.

Has Shunning Caused Anyone to Miss Seeing a Parent Before Their Death?
by jamiebowers inreading about the passing of wings' mom got me to thinking.
my mother has shunned me completely for the past 20 years with the exception of three conversations about health history.
if i outlive my mom, the probability is great that she will die without me ever seeing or talking to her in any kind of meaningful way.

My little cleo likes Iams canned. She seems to prefer that to fancy feast. Turns her nose up at Friskies. Shes quite picky and as she is small and skinny (5 lbs 11 oz), I give her whatever she likes the best. She's my fur child. She's 15 and very healthy

meetings once a week
by Kosonen inmeetings once a week is sufficient according to the bible.
in ezekiels tempel vision we get direction to how often meetings should be hold.
ezekiel 46:1,3:this is what the sovereign lord jehovah has said, as regards the gate of the inner courtyard that is facing east, it should continue shut for the six workdays, and on the sabbath day it should be opened, and on the day of the new moon it should be opened.3and the people of the land must bow down at the entrance of that gate on the sabbaths and on the new moons, before jehovah.. a similar thougth you find in isaiah 66:23. an extra meeting once a month could be nice too.. .

I was on the "one meeting a week" plan for years. Now I'm on the zero plan, which is so much better. Occasionally I visit my husbands old Congregational Church, that is fine, not planning to make it a habit.

Is there anyone here formerly of the "Annointed"?
by Low-Key Lysmith ini'm sure this question has been asked here before, but i was wondering if someone would care to enlighten us as to the undeniable "sign" or occurence that makes folks believe that they are of the annointed class?.
....or am i asking too personal a question?.
i've always been really curious as to what happens to these people to make them believe this beyond a shadow of a doubt.. apparitions?.

My sister was out for 30 years and only came back into the org because she couldn't see her grandchildren. No she tells me she thinks she is of the annointed?? I don't know why she told me this, as she knows how I feel, but she was looped so it just came out. She is afraid to tell anyone. She said she hears a voice saying " you are of the anointed, tell the brothers". But she is afraid to tell them. I don't know if she partook or not, we haven't discussed it again. I told her the brothers would think she was nuts. It's so odd. She doesn't act crazy or odd in other ways. I don't know what to think.

My daughter used to make comments at a very young age - she was a very precocious talker. When she was barely 2 year made a comment about Lot's wife turning into a pillar of salt. Of course I was the proud mama and encouraged this. When she was 3, instead of the correct bible character, she gave the name of a character in a fairy tale. Everyone just thought she was confused, but I knew she did it deliberately. She felt pressured and she had had enough of that, and she rarely answered again. I never forced her as I realized it was just an ego thing on my part. It always seemed wrong to force children to make rote comments. If they are capable of putting it in their own words, fine, but otherwise you aren't teaching them anything.

it was pretty interesting, but i have to say i didn't get it completely.

I liked The Village - wasn't great, but I thought it was mildly entertaining. I like Children of Men a lot. I've always liked SF, especially dark, apocalyptical movies.

Whats wrong with obeying God?
by real one inmany who post here are always talking about they don't need god and that they don't believe in god and that he dosen't exist.
god does not ask us to do unreasonable things.
most of the things he ask us to do protects our lives.. why don't people get that?

I think it's God's will to use my God given intelligence and intuition to figure out best live my life, reach my fullest potential and be of service to others. I don't think it's God's will to mindlessly obey an organization. So - there is nothing wrong with obeying God.

Did you secretly not want studies and rv's?
by new light ini remember going out in circus because it was what we did.
the idea of having to conduct a study or being responsible for a return visit and, therefore, eternal state of existence, caused knots in the stomach and massive dread.
actually having to commit to field circus long term with no hope of escape to save someone's life was a real downer.

I never really followed up on any return visits. It just seemed so intursive to me. Just because, out of pity, they took the magazines, didn't mean they wanted JW's coming back week after week. I really was never a very good JW that way. Always hated it, it never felt right. The only plus would be that I stopped feeling guilty for a few hours about not going out. I never did the "fake knock" thing, what a great idea. I did knock pretty lightly though.

Did you ever see acts of randomness in the congregation?
by truthseeker inbit of a weird title i know, but it's the best i could come up with.. acts of randomness - a speaker refusing to give a talk, a party-pooper elder going to a party, a long time servant of jah criticising the cong during wt comments.. people you thought you knew doing some completely weird or out of character.. an act of randomness could appear at the end of a talk on "widening out" when a certain someone who doesn't like you decides to say hello..

I was at a meeting once, when two sisters got into a cat fight in the bathroom. You could hear it over the speaker. One of the few interesting meetings I have been too. Apparently they were fighting over a brother one of them was married to and the other one wanted.
