Getting ready to visit the San Diego area......Any suggestions?
by drewcoul inmy son is getting ready to move to hawaii.
we are driving from indianapolis to san diego next week so that they can ship his car from the west coast and save about a thousand dollars versus shipping it from here.
i am only going to be there for a few days, thursday through sunday and would like some suggestions of what to do while i'm there.

This time of year the beaches would be quite nice, you can't go wrong there.
They have a really great zoo there and the area where the zoo is has lots of nice museums. Old town is ok, but not worth your time if you only have a few days.

Welcome, glad you have seen the light.
Making friends is hard, at least for some people, and I am one of those. It takes time and effort and a bit of courage to put yourself out there. If you haven't met any potential friends at school or work, you can try taking a class in something that interests you, or do volunteer work, anything that brings you in contact with others. Take an interest in people you meet, ask them about their lives, hobbies, children, etc.
The more you put yourself out there the more opportunities you will have, it's kind of a numbers game.

It's nice that you want to stay in to make your family happy and it would be hard to lose them, but you have to live your life for you, not for your family. Your life is not going to stay the way it is right this moment no matter what you do. You will make new friends, you will lose friends, you will get closer to some family, you may not be as close with some family. You will change and grow as an individual. You can choose to stay in the bubble that is JW life, but know that living in that bubble has a cost, the cost is your freedom and opportunities. Do you want to look back on your life thirty years from now and regret the opportunities that you missed?
It's hard to go through change, but sometimes that is the only way we can meet our full potential, to be our best self. Only you can decide if losing your family is good enough reason to stay in a bad religion, but if I had it to do over I would have left thirty years earlier.

New hominid Species Discovered in South Africa
by cofty inhomo naledi has been added to our family tree but exactly where, is still to be discovered.
read more here.... over 1500 fossils making up 15 separate individuals have been discovered in a cave near johannesburg.
here are a few highlights of it's anatomy.... the skull was globular, like a member of our genus but the brain was small and primitive.

What's exciting about this finding is that the anti evolution camp has said if we had evolved there should be a missing link, skeletal remains of something between an ape and a human. Of course now that there is such a thing they won't believe it. -

We probably are still evolving, but the changes are so small they are probably not enough to notice in only a few thousand years.

I lived in Colorado for ten years. Magwitch, Pearl street was my favorite place to go on Colorado, it's true the good times never end. Street performers, unique shops, interesting restaurants, vintage buildings, all with the beautiful mountains as a backdrop. I lived in Castle Rock, moved away six years ago. -

Are you angry for having been a JW?
by Half banana ini remember seeing the ex-jws parading around outside the assembly like lepers holding placards of hate.
we were the righteous and enlightened ones... and they were lost in outer darkness.
just dont look at them was the standard response to their unwelcome presence..

I have been out fifteen years. I was angry when I found out how much of what I believed was lies, but I am over it. I don't want anger to define my life, so I make a conscious decision to focus on the good in my life and not dwell in the past. I let the Watchtower limit me for 30 years, I refuse to let it limit me now. -

The Greatest Paradox
by Perry innow that i have been a born again christian for 10 years, i see things that just boggles my mind.
like this: we all spent untold hours in the field service telling people (mostly christians) about the paradise earth.
that was the reason we were at their door.

It's all just pie in the sky, so what difference does it make if the pie is cherry or apple? -

It's tragic that people keep putting their heads in the sand. Instead of taking rational steps now that would be relatively painless, they will wait until its too late and changes will be hard, painful and expensive.l, and posdiblyvtoo late.
It's like failing to fix your roof, even though the roofer said it leaks, becayse you don't feel like, spending $5,000 right now and your neighbor thinks it looks fine, so you wait until the rains come and spend $25,00 fixing water damage and a new roof.
