I've decided to make a difference that REALLY matters
by Mrs. Eden inhello friends!today is a sad day for me, as seven months have gone by since my mother passed away after a decades-long fight with breast cancer..
because the witnessing/preaching/teaching work doesn't make any sense to me anymore; because it's not about any "truth"; and because it's basically useless, i've decided to quit doing it.
instead, i've decided to do something that actually can make a real difference in other people's lives.

Awesome! I am sure you will get more personal satisfaction helping others in a concrete way rather than selling magazines.

New hominid Species Discovered in South Africa
by cofty inhomo naledi has been added to our family tree but exactly where, is still to be discovered.
read more here.... over 1500 fossils making up 15 separate individuals have been discovered in a cave near johannesburg.
here are a few highlights of it's anatomy.... the skull was globular, like a member of our genus but the brain was small and primitive.

our reply sounds like that of North Korean ruler. Even if we go by your reply it would mean that people like Einstein who said, โReligion without science is crippled, while science without religion is lameโ have not read any books on science.
That is absurd. Stating facts does not make you a dictator. Exaggerate much? And what does Einstein have to do with any of this? He believed religion had a place, but he didn't use religion in his work, just SCIENCE. And you are ignoring the first part of his equation, that religion without science is crippled and using religion to justify not accepting established scientific fact, something Einstein would never have done.

Need clarification from someone who speaks JW: What is an "apostate" ...or... an "apostate website?"

News sources such as the Washington post are not technically apostate, that is reserved for former JWs who speak out about the Watchtower in any negative way. But most JWs will react to anything negative said about the organization and believe they are lies propagated by apostates, even if it's a qualified news source.
You are correct that the word apostate, (which is not even found in the bible btw), has a powerful negative connotation. An apostate is considered a bitter, angry person who Hayes Jehovah and Who wants to steal the faith of believing Jehovah's Wittnesses. They are considered the lowest of the low, pond scrum. It's cult mind control at work, most JWs will shut down if they believe you might be apostate and not consider anything you have to say. That's why it's hard to get a believing JW to believe anything negative that is said about the Watchtower.
If I ever have a chance to talk to a JW again I would ask them why they are so afraid of what ex JWs have to say. If what they have is "The Truth", why are they so afraid to simply listen to an alternative point of view? Truth should stand up to scrutiny and in the age of the internet facts can be verified. A news source such as the Washington Post would not print something just on the word of an ex JW, they would make sure there was proof.

Here is the funeral talk outline. VERY discraceful.
by stillstuckcruz inthis is truly terrible.
i just love the statement "instead of eulogizing the deceased, use the material in this outline to give a fine witness concerning the truth.
" in other words, utterly disregard the deceased.

When my dad passed away several relatives were disgusted that so little was said about him, it was all about the Watchtower. They were so mad they left as soon as it was over and didn't come to the reception afterward. It's basically an advertising opportunity for the Watchtower and God forbid people give any attention to an individual. They are being stupid because if I knew nothing about them before I went to one of their memorial talks I would be horrified.

This time of year the beaches would be quite nice, you can't go wrong there.
They have a really great zoo there and the area where the zoo is has lots of nice museums. Old town is ok, but not worth your time if you only have a few days.

Welcome, glad you have seen the light.
Making friends is hard, at least for some people, and I am one of those. It takes time and effort and a bit of courage to put yourself out there. If you haven't met any potential friends at school or work, you can try taking a class in something that interests you, or do volunteer work, anything that brings you in contact with others. Take an interest in people you meet, ask them about their lives, hobbies, children, etc.
The more you put yourself out there the more opportunities you will have, it's kind of a numbers game.

It's nice that you want to stay in to make your family happy and it would be hard to lose them, but you have to live your life for you, not for your family. Your life is not going to stay the way it is right this moment no matter what you do. You will make new friends, you will lose friends, you will get closer to some family, you may not be as close with some family. You will change and grow as an individual. You can choose to stay in the bubble that is JW life, but know that living in that bubble has a cost, the cost is your freedom and opportunities. Do you want to look back on your life thirty years from now and regret the opportunities that you missed?
It's hard to go through change, but sometimes that is the only way we can meet our full potential, to be our best self. Only you can decide if losing your family is good enough reason to stay in a bad religion, but if I had it to do over I would have left thirty years earlier.

What's exciting about this finding is that the anti evolution camp has said if we had evolved there should be a missing link, skeletal remains of something between an ape and a human. Of course now that there is such a thing they won't believe it.
