i'm an active elder, cobe, just got home from the meeting where i handled the treasures part and concluded by announcing a friend of mine has been d/f,.....blah blah blah...and over the last year have woken up.
i simply cannot spill my guts to my wife and children as it would be family suicide.
i have zero desire to bash, spread my feelings, or become an "apostate".

two weeks ago marked one year over my disassociation.
time for an appraisal.. quick summary of my story for those who came in lately: my mother brought me into the witnesses when i was 4, grew up the role-model jw boy, baptized at 16, married a zealous reg.

Of course no life is perfect and leaving doesn't fix every problem, but it sounds like you are doing very well considering, glad to hear it.
I am INFP, and kind of in the middle of the Thinker/Feeler situation, so I can relate.
is anyone else staggered by the fact that outside of the organization most of the general public seem to know very little or nothing about jw’s?
when i was in i was led to believe that 99% of the worlds population had been giving sufficient warning, knew what it was all about and were stubbornly sticking to their immoral ways.
the reality seems to be that the entire jw universe is barely noticeable to the masses.
Not only do most people in western lands know almost nothing about what Jehovah's Witnesses believe, most of the rest of the people in the world don't even know they exist.
The preaching work they pride themselves on is, by any definition, an abject failure. Most people are "putting in their hours" and couldn't care less that no one is listening to them, the organization knows this.
how would you guys react if or when you were told this phrase by a jw while having a conversation?
another phrase is “this world...” or “this system, like gum will chew you up and when it’s done with you, spit you right back out.”.
one i’ve been personally told was from a convert that had told me “whenever i speak to young ones that want to know if the grass is greener on the other side, i tell them i was a part of it.
Just one of those things that they use to keep you mentally enslaved. Since by the end there wasnt anything in the organisation for me, I had nothing to lose by leaving, and in fact it was fine, I'm having a great life.
i was born in and a jw for about 40 years, most of it in the same state.
im getting ready to move about an hour away and typed in my possible new zip code to the meeting locator to see who of my past contacts i will possibly run into.. when the locator gives you the list of nearest congos, is congo "a" the one that your address would be "assigned" to?
the congo that works your territory?
I asked to be put on the do not call list. It was mostly ignored at first, I was polite but kept reiterating that I did not want them calling. I would be promised that it would never happen again, but they would always come back. This happened about seven or eight times. I finally threatened to call the police and they haven't knocked on my door for a few years now.

That's great, I'm a professional junker myself and sometimes watch the show.
just wondering how many others (when you were still in the org) would try and listen to the meeting programmes from the perspective of a newly interested person visiting for the first time?.
i know that i did this, and most times i did, i found it disturbing!
it was not just the "in-house" language and terminology that was odd, but also the actual doctrines, and method of 'teaching' that was odd!.
I think new converts are looking for something missing in their life and fall for the simplistic ideology and let their need for pat answers blind them to the weirdness.
it has been 4 1/2 weeks since i had back surgery.
i had l4and l5 fused, disk was suck out replaced with a artificial disk and a bracket or what they called a cage with 4 screws holding it all together.
i went in on a tuesday and was out of the hospital the next day.
I'm glad the surgery went well and you are recovering. Yeah, pain meds are a mixed blessing. I was on them for seven years. I was grateful for them when I couldn't get a correct diagnosis and my pain was intolerable, but you do become dependent and it took two months to recover after stopping them.
I was gone for ten days this summer and my cat was nuts when I got back, she was clingy and needed to be held and cuddled a lot for five days before she calmed down. People think cats are all aloof, but this one is anything but.
some years ago, i attended a jw wedding.
marriage speaker said something which changed my life for the better, and it helps me even now.
he told the couple: “the very make up of man and woman is such that conflicts can often arise between you.
I can't think of anything that couldn't have been learned elsewhere without the extreme negativity that came with being in a cult.
well, it's been a long time!
i first lurked here around 20 years ago and read huge amounts of threads which certainly helped when i was making my decision to leave the religion.
i was never baptised (resisted it!
Since they keep engaging with you, time to turn the tables on them. The next time they ask you a question, ask them one. Research what you think might work with them.
Like, "Doesn't it bother you that the Watchtower has predicted the end so many times, and have been wrong every time?
Did you know that the Watchtower end time chronology was based on the wrong date?
They have basically been doing the same to you, time to fight back. They will probably get uncomfortable and drop it and won't do that again.
