Sparky, my life has been so wierd and painful, friends tell me I could be on Oprah or Maury Povich or something! But I am also scared of totally revealing my identity. Tell me more about it and I will think about it.
I really have to go to bed now, I keep saying that, but I better. Talk to you more tomorrow.

Did 9-11 Change Your Life?
by Blueblades inon a crisp september morning nearly five years ago, terrorists hijacked four american airliners in a coordinated suicidal attack on america.
within hours, thousands of americans were dead, new york city's two tallest buildings were gone, the pentagon in washington was ripped open and a stunned america was watching helplessly - fearfully - as images from ground zero filled their tv.

I actually grew up in Queens, NY and my father did scaffolding on the WTC towers when it was built. I was living in Okie land and watching the news when the planes hit the towers. I called my mother and she and I both felt very emotional over it all. I didn't know whether to go to work or what to do, I didn't know if we were at war or what was going to happen. My step-mom in Queens, stood at the end of her street and watched them fall. I didn't know anyone personally that went through it but felt such an deep emotion of pain and agony for those who did and for my home city New York. The most poignant moment for me was when I realized that the strange siren/beeping noise we heard on the news when the towers fell, was the signals of the fallen firefighters going off after they had been trapped. Knowing those poor people were trapped and dying was horrifying to hear and I can not imagine what it was like for those who went through it and for the ones who actually saw it and for their survivors. It makes you realize that sometimes the worst things imaginable can happen. It does make me more aware of how I treat others, especially loved ones. I sometimes let my temper get the best of me, but I do try more to be kind to others and not worry about if someone gets in front of me in line or whatever. I also try to not leave loved ones with unkind words and always tell them I love them because it may be the last time they ever hear that from you.

How do you get over a crush?
by lonelysheep inhow do you tell your heart to not give a bleep anymore???
what can you do to shut it off completely, i mean, for more than a week?
eyes are hard to control sometimes, as are hands to type with.

Lonely Sheep...one more thing, if it is a crush at work... and he does not feel the same way, what worked for me was posting a little sign over my computer monitor "He's just not that into you". That way I could look at it and remember not to make a fool of myself everytime I thought about emailing him or going by his office to flirt with him.

Sparky, I see someone who is full of love and cares for others and who is spending time reflecting on the past so as not to make the same mistakes again.
Keep you chin up, you are on the right track.
Love ya,
Okie

As you probably know, easier said than done!! Some things that can help, stay busy, do things with your girlfriends, read books like, "He's just not that into you", "Women who love too much", "All men are jerks until proven otherwise", "10 stupid things women do to mess up their lives", "Why men love bitches" . Go to amazon.com and look up the above books and there will be tons of books on dating and getting through break ups.
Don't be afraid to cry and yes sometimes to heal we must hurt. What ever you do, put down that phone, when you are craving to call him, that is the worst thing to do, put down the phone and walk away, call a girlfiend, platonic male friend, family, your sister, anyone but don't call him, don't listen to sad music, don't get drunk or think of old memories with him. Get dressed in pretty clothes and go shopping and flirt with every cute guy you see.
Go to the Dr. Phil website or Oprah's websites and read everything you can find. Take a class, learn to knit, go dancing, take a drive, go to the library, go to a movie or a favorite restaurant (but not you and his favorite restaurant together), go to an adult toy store and buy something fun for self, watch movies you love.
Eventually you will think about your crush less and less and you will move on. There are more fish in the sea.
