I have a feeling that "The Watchtower" of 4/1/2006 was an April Fool
by MinisterAmos inthe issue contains the "life story" of a brother who has been in for sixty years, but it really sounds like someone from jwd who is subtly bashing the org.. according to him he only got dunked some 60 years ago because "my mother (repeatedly) emphasized one point to me; armageddon is coming soon"!
when he was baptized to age 13 he "only understood basic bible teachings and understood that he was responsible to jehovah for my conduct".
note he specifically omits mention of the wtbs as being representive of god and fails to mention "showing glory to the elders and others" as demanded in wt 9/1/97 but is seeming to mock the wt with the "soon" remark and also with the fact that he was baptized at 13, without his parent's permission and with little knowledge.. anyway, his mom is dead and here we are 60 years later.

My wife says the same thing...
Me: "How will you feel when it all turns out to be a lie?"
Wife: "It doesn't matter because I worship Jehovah not the organization. And I lived my life doing what He wants"
Me: "But it is a lie, it isn't what he wants"
Wife: "Well, people in the world have all these problems, and at least I was protected from that"
Argument for the next hour. -

"No fear" t shirts, forbidden???
by free2beme inin the 1990's there were a lot of things that had the saying "no fear" on it and one of the local elders figured out that this meant we live life and do things without fear.
so that basically we could try things and take chances, without the normal fear we associate with things in life.
well in a special needs talk they decided that "no fear" t shirts should not be worn by good witnesses and they asked that we not wear them to witness gatherings, or even in life.

I do an hour of resistance training Mon, Wed, Fri; and thirty minutes of cardio on Tue, Thu, Sat.
My diet is 2500 calories a day, 5 meals a day. 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat.
I supplement with Men's One a Day, whey protein, fish oil, creatine, and Greens Plus.
As a tie-in to things JW related. Lately the WTS has been talking about not spending too much time on hobbies and health concerns, especially was this the case at last year's district convention. A couple of JW buddies I used to workout with took all of this to heart and stopped working out. It is crazy to me, the WTS doesn't want anyone to spend precious time away from studying, the meetings, and field service. JW friends give me weird looks when I head to the gym after the meeting or miss early morning service because I'm working out.
Last year the CO was giving a talk about the last days or some such nonsense. He asked a rhetorical question, something along the lines of "can you friends imagine running a mile? Probably none of us in here could..." I was sitting in my seat thinking yeah I can do it in about 6 minutes. I smirked and whispered this to my wife...she was pissed off because I seemed to have missed the CO's point.

This is the only board I post on. It seems someone copied & pasted my notes. That is cool, the more people that see the WTS' bs the better. Thanks for posting the link, I'll visit that board.

I Have the new "Tract"--or at least it's new to me. Found at the Bakery.

how would you anser those two questions?

sir82 is correct. The WTS has a tract primarily for Muslims, and one for Hindus. There could be a couple of others but I can't think of them right now. They started printing them in the early-90s...I think.

!!!!!!!!!! New Elder Video !!!!!!!!!!!!!
by SickofLies inthis time they really did call the police on me lol!
they backed out though, they called, then canceled the call after a while and the police never came to charge me with recording them, pitty really.. http://www.quad-central.com/~dan2007.
there is the link, i was unable to edit the audio file like i usually do to take out the blank spaces and amplify the volume, so if someone could do that with the wav file on the server that would be great!.

At the elder schools and occasionally at elders meeting with CO, they remind elders how to handle disturbances.
If it is during a meeting, they ask the person to leave informing him/her that their implied invitation has been revoked (or something to that effect) please leave. If the person stays they call the police and tell them the same thing "So-and-so is causing a disturbance and their implied invitation has been revoked and charged with tresspassing"...that is the basic thought.
Elders are told not to touch the person, unless the person is violent and then the elder or person being attacked can defend themself.
With that said, I am surprised they touched you and your property since you weren't violent.

What does it take to make my sister to stop shunning me? High Gas Prices!
by Elsewhere ini recently received a very odd email from my devout-jw sister who has been shunning me since 1998. it is that "the price of gas is too high so lets stop buying gas from exxon and mobil to start a price war" email.
i'm sure many of you have seen it.. therefore, what does it take to make my jw sister stop shunning me?
simple: high gas prices!

"...ask her if she wants to carpool", that was funny.
I'm surprised she has your e-mail address. She shuns you, but contacts you via e-mail. I know people that won't say two words to me in a conversation, but blow up my inbox with messages. Maybe she is holding out hope that you will return to the 'tower.

The Bethel speaker that made the "20 - 30 years" comment is an older Bethel-heavy, former travelling brother. I found the comment interesting because in this case even a "higher up" in the Org actually believes this stuff.

Crumpet - The comment about being in New Order 20-30 years was just the Bethel speaker's personal comments. This was his first talk and he was giving all the customary greetings...good to be back in this area...if we don't see old friends today, we will see you in the New Order in 20-30 years...and then he got into the talk. I just thought it was interesting for him to make that comment.
Onesong - After the SAD was over I was talking to a few people about the day's talks. One older sister has a beautiful garden, she told me she will have to give it up since this hobby is a time waster, and try to do more in service. It was really sad, here this older lady has something she is good at and finds enjoyment in the latter years of her life, but she will give it up for a cold and impersonal organization. I too wish more of them would think.
