How old did you expect to be when the New System would come?
by JH ini became a jw at age 28 and no way did i expect to ever get older than 40 years old in this system.. maybe at the extreme, i could have imagined being 45 years old, not more..

I remember when I was a kid someone told me to stop cracking my knuckles because when I got older I would get arthritis. I said the system will not last that long and they agreed.
I also NEVER expected to get to High School when I was a kid. In my family it was understood as fact that I wouldn't.
So, to answer the question, I expected to be about 11 or 12 years old when the system ended. I'm 31 now.

African JWs Can Keep "Messianic" Attire Because It's There Culture!
by minimus inmy mom went to the sunday meeting and a missionary that was formerly in the congregation was showing (boring) slides about the "work" in africa.
when he showed some pictures of some witnesses, they were dressed in what he called "messianic attire".
he told the audience that it was no big deal that they were being allowed to continue this style of dress by the society since it was merely seen as "cultural".

E--Jehovah inspires me to get my excercise and even instructs me on how to make better use of the workout session.
Me--Now THAT'S a good personal trainer! Who knows the body better than him?
Do me a favor, ask him if it's better to use free weights or the machine. And what's the best protein shake?
Whatever your new name is...did you ask Him?
And does He know anything about mortgages?

Whats the funniest/most bizarre comment heard from the audience during a WT
by chiddy inwhats the funniest comment heard from the audience during a wt study/book study/service meeting?.
we had a young retarded kid in our cong , who had his hand up for every single question , usually the bro would take his comment as he would just say "jehovah" but this time he takes the mic and starts this long winded comment rounded off with"satans going to cause a civil war!
priceless !.

I can't think of any good ones but these are great!
It got me thinking, it's kind of cool that we all have these things in common. Only we could appreciate these comments because when we read them it triggers something. Can you see the inside of the hall? Can you smell that kingdom hall smell? Can you see the textbook 'JW chairs?' Can you hear and see the older sister commenting and the apprehensive laughter throughout the hall? We are unique in this.
Sorry, I just thought I'd point that out.

Let's just get something straight about 1975.
by WTFBBQPWNT innobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.
in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?
there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

He/she just started this forum to get everyone going. But it's not funny but insulting to those who experienced this time.
He then said, "Could the end come in 1975? It could, but we don't know." (or something like that)
You gotta love these apologists for their deep research and hard work.
Slim
Yeah, they do dig deep.

....and how exactly was the "time span" measured?
For me to spend countless time showing how they come up with dates would be useless. Why? Because if people want to believe the opposite then that beats any science.
I see from the responses that this is a very touchy subject. It is very deep and requires research before making presumptions.
To immediately dismiss such a find is not fair to yourself or others.
Fifty years from now will all this stuff be on the trash heap of past science where there are probably libraries needed to hold all the discarded views.
Or will it be on the other heap of past science which was once considered nonsense by creationists and others and is now common knowledge?
I can't wait for 50 years from now (whether I'm here or not) because science will have brought us even closer to the REAL truth.
Being in the Org for so long some of us, including me at one time, think of scientists as a bunch of anti-bible people who dedicate their life to pulling people away from God. They taught us that science was an evil work performed by a bunch of blundering idiots. Maybe they (JW's) were wrong on this one too.
IMO, of course.
