Here is a pretty strong list of WT Society embarrassments and mistakes to look through that I put together earlier this year.
But none of it will matter if she is hard headed about critical WT Society examinations. She must be willing to examine the WT Society without WT colored glasses. Otherwise you will be spinning your wheels in the mud, I'm afraid.
If she is open to examine, you can go far. Compare it to buying a used car. Do you just want to hear what the salesman has to say about it? Or do you want a less biased, more neutral party to tell you what it really needs.The facts as they truly are. Likewise examining the WT Society can (and should) be done through more than just the WT Society itself.
Also, I'd suggest not putting all of your eggs in this one conversation. It takes time for even the most damaging information to set in. It took me several months. My wife several months and my step daughter almost a full year. But initially all said the very same thing; "I don't want to hear it"...
Yeah, sure.
They heard it alright. It just took a little time...

CONVERSATION WITH MY JW SISTER LAST NIGHT......
by Mary inwell i guess this was a long time in coming, but yesterday afternoon, my family all got together and had a bbq at my parents' home.
when my parents left at around 6:00pm to drive my one non-dub sister home, my other sister and brother in law (former elder), stayed for a while longer.. we've never discussed my leaving 'the truth' a couple of years ago but she brought it up last night and we started talking about the religion.
everyone had been drinking but no one was drunk, so alot got said.

I think you should give her the two Franz books. The CD is only one small piece of the puzzle. Same with all other issues individually. Those two books present so many different things, in such a respectful yet devastating to the faith fashion. You may use up all your chances with the wrong move here. Just give her both books and be done with it. Then, be quiet. Say nothing else. She will come to you...

There is only so much that you can do without drowning her with it. Can you e-mail her websites? There are numerous oustanding stories from former JW's, Bethelites, CO's, Gildead grads, pioneers, elders etc etc. These personal accounts were what got the ball rolling with my wife. At one point, she started e-mailing ME with experiences from people who left.
But aside from that, the absolute must have gift from you to her would be Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom. Buy them both for her and hand deliver. There is nothing that you, or I, or anybody else for that matter could say that would be more effective at blowing the WT Society's cover than those two books. Once she even starts the reading she will be hooked and on her way out.
Only after she is into those writings would I start adding other sites such as here.

Of course you have the blood and fractions mess to bring up. All of the false, missed predictions, the forbidding of vaccinations, organ transplants, alternative service. You have Rape rules about resisting, no grounds for terminating the marriage if spouse had sex with animals or sex with the opposite sex. You have the Beth Sarim embarrassment, 607 proven false, the UN/WTS relationship. You have today's current unscriptural policies like shunning for those that just disagree with any current JW tecahings, or having to shun those that simply disassociate without sinning. Nowhere found in the scriptures. Beards, no birthdays, no holidays, can't vote etc etc none of which is in the bible... you know the drill.
The fact she is willing to examine is the single most important step towards a JW leaving the WT Society from my own experiences. Most will never go that far. Those two books is really very likely all it will take. Though I would also not be too surprised if she completely changes her mind after a few days away from you. All those lessons on apostasy and avoiding anything critical of the JW's tend to kick in at some point. I would order my books right now! Good luck Mary.

How The Organization Hooks You With "Privileges"
by minimus inright from the beginning, you are bombarded with others telling you what a "privilege" it is to "be used" in the organization.
especially if you're a male, it is easy to get hooked by the elder's lines.....for example, a male is given the "privilege" of "handling the microphones" if they put in enough time in the ministry and they aren't setting a bad example.
if you're "faithful in what is least", greater privileges await you.

This is another reason why so many of the elders are in it for the "position" and lack genuine compassion and empathy. I would say over 90 percent were position conscious rather than being men in it for thew purpose of serving the cong. -

Older is kind of a joke on beliefnet. Though she is a consistent joke. I think she does more harm than good for the JW's. She never stays on topic and re-posts the same things. I literally stopped reading her posts on certain threads. She is simply a non-factor.
I was suspended twice in my year and a half. Once for 30 days and the second time for 60 days.
Of course I did nothing wrong.... : )
Actually, the 60 days was for copying a post made on the learn board and then posting it and replying to it on the debate board.
Which I thought was fine to do because the entire post I copied was all about me and others on the debate board.

You are as good as OUT already. And you probably realize this. This is what happens. You are here as a last ditch effort to defend the org in the light of many doubts. But you cannot and will not be able to. The entire JW history is riddled with holes, false doctrines, medical disasters, doctrinal flip-flops, blinking lights, missed end of world predictions etc etc etc... along with hundreds to thousands of CURRENT unscriptural policies.
How about the judging, labeling and shunning those that walk away from the JW's today without prtacticing any kind of sin?
Where is any of that found in the bible?
If you really want to go down this road, I am afraid it will not be very pretty for you and the JW's.
My suggestion: Go running back to mother full speed and forget you even posted here.
Read only WT and Awakes and other JW pubs.
Always be willing to put head in sand whenever anything critical is placed in front of you.
Now, do all these things, and maybe, just possibly you can stay as a happy, sheltered, in-denial good little JW.

A time for war at the family reunion-this apostate don't take crap!
by dawg ini just finished another of my famous letters i send to many of my family members... i've been told that i shouldn't come to the family reunion becasue i'm an apostate.
in my letter i stated that i in fact am going to be there stupid watchtower quotes in hand.
the first family member that shuns me will hear me read off every stupid statement that they've ever made... i said that i'm also bringing my bible and that i want someone in the family to show me in it where it states that i don't have the right to question the dictates of men and by my so doing i should be shunned!.
