Dating a df girl who wants to go back - Do I have a chance?
by mrburns inhaving read some of the previous posts, i'm pretty sure what the majority answer will be.
my situation is similar.
we met a little over a year ago, she got df over her relationship with me, something that put her in a pretty long depression that she gradually grew out of (with some notable setbacks along the way).

I was a JW for over 15 years. I was an elder and had no complaints until I learned things that I hade never know before. Here is my story detailing specifically why I had to walk away. I was not disfellowshipped but left due to what I had learned.

Tell her that it is important to YOU that she at least hear and look at some of these real world, sincere and recent accounts.
If she is completely unwilling to even consider examining these or similar stories, then I am afraid you are likely DEAD IN THE WATER.
It would be a good idea to start making mental plans to beging a new chapter rather soon.

"My reason for wanting to publish it is really just to try and reach more people. For me, it is just as much about doing what I can to help other survivors as it is to tell my story."
**** You can reach more people through the many internet sites, as you are doing, and news stories than through any book IMO. Most JW's will not go near any book written by ex-JW's. Ray Granz, a former GB member may be the rare exception to this. The ones that do purchase books have often one foot out the door already. Some are completely out and just want confirmation through these other writings.
If it's therapeutic, then absolutely do put everything down in writing and then see how you feel afterwards. But remember the opposite effect can be the reality as well. However, either way, I would suggest you not tell your father about the book unless you are 100 percent certain you will be publishing it. At that point it will probably not matter whether you told him before or after the fact because it is highly unlikely he will want any relatiosnhip with you if you plan to publish a book against the faith he is entrenched in. Especially if it is about his own family.
You can have a very profound effect on others by sharing your experiences on the world wide web from my own experience. There are so many sites and articles in the news today about the JW's that are filled with JW's involved. The JW's will do that and go there on the web. But JW's buying a book, critical of the JW faith, is just not a very common thing. They ae TOLD to stay far away from such sources, because they are apostate, tools of satan, causes spiritual shipwreck... blah blah blah...
Just be sure to think this one through carefully before hitting the go button.
All the best,
Vinny

Boston College was so over rated. Glad to see they got spanked yesterday too.
I still think the best team in College football this year is LSU. So at least bama got mowed down by the best. Ohio State has still much to prove IMO... I think Michigan will beat them in a couple weeks. Actually Michigan after a terrible start is strating to roll...
Hawaii (where I live) is also undefeated, but they are worse than Boston College...
Was sad to see the Colts give it up at the end. Those two teams should be allowed to play in the Superbowl again. The NFC has no chance this year. Nobody else is even close to Pats/Colts...

what religion are you now?
by 4digitcode ini'm sure this has been asked a million times before but since leaving the witnesses what religion (or lack thereof) have you chosen for yourself?
and what is it about that religion that attracted you?
since leaving the witnesses i think i no longer believe in god, not out of anger, actually i think i like the idea of him more since i don't believe in him anymore.

"how weird -I just bought a new camera. Small world" **** And with the progress, affordability and quality of digital photography today, almost everybody is now a photographer, so it seems. I've been a professional landscape photographer for many years now. We sell these landscape images as fine art throughout Hawaii in many locations along with a couple of websites as well as stock globally. But over the last couple of years sales have been declining a fair bit. Same goes for the world of stock photography, where agencies used to pay steep royalties if you allow usage of your images. That market is nothing near what it has always been and percentages have declined significantly. Why these declines? IMO, I believe because so many more people are taking their own photos when they travel on vacation, and then also selling them to stock agencies for peanuts. But at least so many others are now enjoying the pleasure of getting out there into the natural world with gear and all, soaking the beauty that surrounds all in. It's not easy to beat that as a hobby today. As many new photographers are finding out. (Am on my PC but can't lose the bold font here...

"What does a polarizer do?"
**** Basically, Everything that matters.
Is like wearing a pair of top quality polarized sunglasses. Reduces glare, allows color to really pop, improves contrast, darkens blue skies allows you to see through water and more. All professionals and even serious amateurs know that a polarizer is what butter is to bread. Gotta have it. They are relatively affordable, also act as lens protection and can be rotated if you desire no polarizing effect.
A must have. Trust me on this one.

Your Opinion: Worst action/aspect of WTBS?
by feenx inso i'm curious to get your opinions.
in your minds what is the worst part of the wtbs?
the abuse issue, money, false teachings/doctrines, control?
-

The blood and fraction pathetic unscriptural policy forced on all JW's even if death results.
The fact that one cannot disagree with any current WT teachings.
Shunning those that disassociate from the JW's without practicing sin.
Believing that they alone are the "one true faith" and all others are false and to be destroyed soon.
Keeping JW membership in the dark as to its sorry past.
