  Have there been "independent JW women" that did something notable within the org?

  I believe it was thought the highest desireable rank was elder wife or pioneer if you wanted to be woman somebody. I heard several pioneers, some you know, say something to the effect, (in tears...at an assembly...ring a bell?) "I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't pioneer." (poor thing) Some said they had no say unless they were a pioneer, and some thought that was motivation enough to do it for years.

  I think you have to be a "Father Knows Best" type if you are going to be a good JW woman. You buck the system, you are in disfavor, Jezebel as NC said.

  Yeah, I would think it is the same with the Mormons, educate yourself, but stick with our program. The Catholics have done a lot of good along with the not so good through the years. Nuns are teachers and run schools and education systems.

  Do you see any women wanted to buck the system within the org?

  Education is encouraged if not just expected with the Catholics and Mormons. There are civic duties and responsibilities that women are given. That is not the environment for JW women.

  Never happen. Edited: JW women could give a sh*t.

  Have you lost your sense of "happy ever after"?

  i'm glad to be out but i've since had the sensation that the "happy ever after" ending i always thought would come will not come.

  there will be no happy ending, just an oridary life.

  thats quite a werid sensation to contemplate... what do you think?.

  As a JW you are indoctrinated to put everything off until "the real life" (TM). After too many years of doing that in varying degrees for things in everyday life, it did seem like I was swinging without a net when I left. Once you start appreciating life now, and people now, and happiness now, then you realize it can be "happy ever after", and it is a relief. I don't know how, but your mind shifts, thankfully.

  I was thinking, Morris said this DVD was the first, and there would be other releases. Speculation there will be one on bad association and Dinah. I bet they are rethinking the whole plan.

  Thank you for replying. I think this the book Penn Jillette mentioned in a podcast of his I listened to yesterday. I was driving and I couldn't write the name down.

  I will check them both out...I have a new kindle, so I might treat myself with one of them. Do you recommend one over the other?

  Got My First Shunning Last Night - And I am NOT Even a JW!!!

  wow!!.

  last night i go to the grocery store and see this guy, always been a nice guy, always says "hello, how have you been, we mised you at the hall" crap.

  and i say "never been better, nice to see you" you know the ususal pleasantries.... not last night.. we go into the store almost simultaneously (from different directions) and as soon as he sees me he dashes towards the shopping carts.

  You know, I think they don't know what they are supposed to do. The org has created such a disconnect with humanity, they seem perplexed at common niceties.

  I dropped off something to a JW relative a few months ago, hadn't seen him in two years since my mother's funeral. I just heard now that he is saying "maybe" I want to "come back" because I didn't avoid him but talked with him a bit. Now he wants my number. I swear these people are from another planet.

  For the record, I don't give a flying f%#k; just thought it was odd to shun a non-JW. By the same logic, they shouldn't talk to 99.9% of people around them...

  You are right. Then again, they don't really care or talk to those 99%. *sigh*

  This is the one I have. I thought it was cool looking. Next time I think I would get a glass one.

  I used to have a stove top but always ended up needed the burner it was on. Plus after replacing 2 stove top kettles in too short a period of time, (the mechanisms broke), I went to an electric kettle I love it. Good luck.

  Exactly Bri, I was thinking the same thing. Sophie's next. They are going to bring 'ol Dinah out again and beat her up with it.

  I heard there was an extended part about marrying "out of the lord" and consequences again at last weekend's DC. Will they wait until next year's DC to release the new video or release it before I wonder.
