Would you pay $600 to see The Stones?
by littlerockguy ini can't believe the prices of concert tickets these days.
the rolling stones is starting their tour this year in los angeles tonight and some of the floor tickets are as high as $600!!!
they were in little rock back around 2005 or 2006 and the most expensive ticket back then for their show was $300.

We tried like crazy, 4 nights 2 large venues, to get tickets less than $600 a piece. Even at the moment they went on sale during the presale with 2 computers...no luck. We tried.

Leopold Engleitner, oldest survivor of the Nazi Concentration Camps dies, 107
by designs inmany of us know of him and his remarkable story during the dark years of wwii.
as a jehovah's witness he went to the death camps rather than renounce his faith and pacificism.

Did he claim to be of the "you know what" class?
He was quite the celebrity. I wonder what he thought also. I remember when my mom was about 89, and one day out of the blue she looked at me and said, "I don't think I'm going to see it." (As in surviving the "end" and seeing paradise, never dying.)
RIP Leopold.

I probably would just kill em with kindness. Maybe something like, "Mom, I love you no matter what."
Can't think ATM. But just one sentence that won't go away.

Thoughts on the new AAWA video and other things!!
by iamwhoiam inso does this mean aawa is going to stop shunning?
are they themselves not guilty of shunning those who shun?
shunning can never be stopped no matter how bad you want it to.

I was thinking about the effectiveness of the video as well. I think first off, it unites those doing the work to feel the value of their efforts against an organization that has caused harm. I think it also validates the feelings of those out in the cyber world who have been shunned should they chance onto the video in youtube or wherever...they are not alone.
I agree with Simon, the WT will not change because of what people want...but could if they see themselves shunning in the same fashion as fundamentalist/puritanical "false religions" (Mormons etc) to the extent it cause them embarassment as a corporation. The corporation is not in the business of caring about people; it will make decisions to continue its existence.
But still it is important for many to be "part" of a cause and to feel the cause can make a difference. However, the world cares little about anything JW. I saw another youtube of a UK couple talking about the shunning at her mother's JW funeral. It's just tragic. WE all can relate.
I did post here a podcast of a Mormon raised gal who in wanting to be honest to her parents of her non Mormon life, saw herself sitting in Mormon hell in the bridesmaid dress (she couldnt be in the church for her sister's wedding), while her whole family was dressed in white and in the big white temple in heaven.
Religion stinks.

"Vindication" book. 1931- anti female rant. With Scans
by BluesBrother inso "women make monkeys out of men" and the common courtesies of civilised society make a man "effeminate".....and that is enough to have a man barred from the kingdom.... (the kj version uses that word in 1 cor.6.9 but other translations apply it to homosexuality).
mother's day is denounced as a scheme of satan to idolize one's mother at the expense of worship to god!.
now it would be easy to dismiss this baloney as just a rant from jfr, but - this is not just an aside on the back page of a magazine or a small article in the "golden age"...no, it is a main study book and is a serious discussion of the prophetic book ezekiel chapt 13....this was the doctine of the time .. i woder how the 'sisters' reacted?

It was very rough for women. Although, they did use them for servants when there was a lack of men.
