  i've made a few posts here already so i thought i'd introduce myself.

  i'm an ex-jw from cheltenham pittville (uk) congregation.

  i've been free and clear for a few years now so i'm through the anger phase and in the happily getting on with my life phase.

  Do you intend to die?

  as far as i know, all of us are going to die.

  our hope, our stories, and the fantazy of " good people" telling tales of heaven, or a new system, or future reassembling of our consciousness is not likely?

  do you still cling to it?.

  Accepting my mortality was huge after exiting the JWs. Never dying, even though how/what/where was iffy, was ingrained from infancy. My logical mind accepts it. My emotional side hates it.

  Paradise was such a nice thought...frolicking with wild life, being able to pursue delayed interests... But I didn't see how "paradise" could work. My head would start to explode when I started thinking how we would have to trade services and trades in order to live like the pictures in the books. Then eventually it would be just like life today...except it would be like living in one giant, bland earthwide Bethel. Beth-hell.

  No, I didn't see myself there, no matter how hard I tried to do that. And besides as a teen, a CO told our congregations that only 1/3 of it were going to make it. Thinking about that now, I'm sure that damaged any sort of hope I had in everlasting life.

  Telephone Conversations Today with 2 Elders Re: Shunning - Or Not?

  my alcoholic and aged jw mother is now extremely ill and is being cared for in every respect by my non-jw brother.

  3 sisters visited him yesterday and were adamant.

  that i (disassociated and shunned by her for nearly 3 years) was able to 'visit her any time' and that ' there was nothing to stop me seeing her' as long as i. didn't discuss spiritual things with her.

  i'm a born in jw and never in a million years i'd thought i'd see this.

  from internet is evil to website worshipping in less than a decade.

  I think the promotion of the website is more a direct combat to the volume of searchers that get directed to JWN when searching for Jehovah's Witnesses. It was time for them to get the website functional, but the over-the-top marketing of "jw.org" is just bizarre...all you need to remember is "jw.org." It's like "WWJD." IMHO.

  Ministy School - Endless, without graduation - How could we?

  yesturday, i was talking to a friend and she said that in order to get a degree from a local college, they require a completed a public speaking course.

  i said that was no problem, because i had been in a public speaking school for 40 years.

  she looked at me like i had three heads.

  After my last talk the MSO said from the platform "I had a hard time finding anything wrong with your talk." So I decided I graduated and told him so the next time he tried to hand me a talk slip. After 40 years or so I figured I was good.

  I think this was well done. It does a very good job at pointing out the control of the org, the failed prophecies, the ridiculous, exclusive hope...with pictures from the literature. The guy was a violent nutter...who just happened to be a JW.

  Whether JW's get it or not, the exposure of this high control religion with its wacky and deadly doctrines, cruel shunning and abuse policies to the non JW world is what is important.

  I'm saving this on the DVR.
