  I'm graduating tommorrow

  it's been a nine year battle, but i'm finally graduating from college with a bachelor's degree and a certificate.

  it's important to me that this community knows that.

  there are probably a lot of you here who didn't allow themselves to go to college.

  I have similar feelings on the anti-education environment, and I resent the WTBS so much for it. (I'm trying to get over it.)

  Tremendous accomplishment in a non supportive environment.

  Would you EVENTUALLY be happy in a JW dominated new system?

  many here say that they wouldn't want to live in a world dominated by jw's.

  i understand.. i know that i wasn't always happy under their rules and way of living.

  i don't like going to meetings, especially 5 a week.

  At first when I read your question I said "where's the barfing smiley?"

  Then I thought about it for a while.

  If the rulership of the NS was to be exactly how the Org is governed now...I'd say "bleech." I'd kiss the Swiss chalet, pandas and everything goodbye for being able to have my own thoughts for a short time.

  But I have had a lot of fun with former friends in years gone by, and if it was just them...I could do it. Maybe.

  Reminds me last time I was at Bethel waiting to go on a tour. There was a "sister" trying to clean the outside glass doors, in a skirt, in the winter, trying to keep her knees together and the skirt from flying up. *sigh*

  Did the WTS ask Jesus permission to sell 360 Furman ST.

  according to the wts, jesus owns all the watchtower properties.

  recently the wts sold 360 furman st. for untold millions.

  thay obviuosly forgot about jesus and cashed in on his property.

  Cali - Pornea?

  anyone from the u.s. ever hear california referred to as "cali-pornea"?

  whether you're from cali or not, was it your impression that california jws had a reputation as being more "worldly" than dubs from other states?

  I've heard the impression of Californian JW's is that they are swinging from the recessed lights. Hate to bust anybody's bubble, but it's pretty average here.

  But I also heard at Bethel (so it must be true) we have the highest ratio of pioneers/full time workers to publishers. (For whatever that's worth.)

  Looking back now, I just remembered a funny story. A pioneer sister in the '70's told me that she thought I was "worldly" because (drum roll) I wore sun dresses to the convention. I was from Orange County, everybody wore sun dresses...the conventions were in the sun...(huh??) But the hall she was from, and were I eventually attended, was a beach hall...and they were, and still are, very conservative.

  Well, he doesn't look that creepy. He just looks like he's may be from Orange County rather than Jerusalem.

  GB MEMBER Herd Says Just Because You're A JW It Doesn't Mean Anything!

  there's a tape circulating around the witnesses stating that when the separation of the sheep and goats happens, witnesses shouldn't think that they will automatically be saved just because they're witnesses.

  if they aren't wholesouled, then they should not expect that having one foot in the "truth" and the other in the world will let them make it through the great tribulation....herd was trying to motivate the troops!

  We had a CO come through (pre '75) that told our congo that 1/3 were going to "make it." He said "look around...just think...only 1/3 of you are going to survive Armageddon!"

  It didn't motivate me, it made me think "why bother?"

  I so agree with the comment regarding JW's being taught to be suspicious of each other. Don't forget, they are one step away from dancing naked around the golden calf.

  What Actually Made You Leave The "Truth"?

  for me it was a combination of things over a long period of time.

  being raised as a witness, you do things by rote.

  but when you see sooooooooo many watchtower inconsistencies, mistreatment of the "brothers", elder abuse, and simple lack of love, it begins to make you start seriously thinking.

  MOUTHY NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS AND/OR SUPPORT

  our dear mouthy is really having a tough time right now and needs our support and/or prayers.

  as some of you may know, she's already lost 3 of her children in death and the other one to the borg.

  in the last couple of days, she's had to worry about her 2 year old great-granddaughter being in the hospital with an illness and yesterday, her daughter had a suspicious mole removed from her back and was told there is a lump in her breast which has to be biopsied.

  have i stayed too long at the fair.

  there are many names and faces that i don't see much any more.
