JW upbringing - the gift that keeps on taking
by Simon inthe things they take from you:.
first they take your childhoodthen they take your familyfinally they take your memorieswe all know that you limit your social interactions so you have few school friends who are not jws.
they openly promote this in their magazines and it's repeated at meetings throughout your formative years.

Pictures of outings and trips from days gone by? They become reminders of loss and pain instead of good times, even if they were good times when you were there.
No kidding. Many times I can look at a picture and feel the good of it, and even laugh with others about the "former friends." Then other times the reminder seems to put me in a funk and sometimes makes me angry. I hate that.
Yes, it has affected me. I haven't tried to make friends. I also know that I subconsciously numbed myself after I left to protect me from the feelings of loss as I tried to figure things out. I am surprised at how little feeling I have for some I was so so close to. I should say "no" feeling. Am I the same as them but just on the other side? I wonder.

God's good for "$66 dollars"
by Separation of Powers inlast week's watchtower study related an experience of a sister who prayed that god would help her with her rent.
she needed $66 dollars.
she went to her waitressing job on an off night and would you believe?

When something "good" happens it's always from Jah, not the hardworking, kind people that may have provided windfall.
When something "bad" happens, it's always a test from Satan...raise in rent, car repair, gas prices etc.

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life. You have what really matters in life, your family. This religion is crap.
There will be ups and down with family and employees...but just keep looking forward...because that is where you are going.

Effect of family life (me, wife and young boy) if I am df / da and wife zealous jw
by Daniel1555 ini have a question and hope to hear some experiences of you who went or are going through this situation:.
actually for several reasons (blood policy, disfellowshipping policy and some more) my conscience is telling me quite strongly, that i should not anymore be a part of that organization.. my wife and even elders know about my doubts (except blood policy).
however i continue to join the meetings actually just to please my wife and to be together with our baby boy.
-
Dagney
Really good advice here. My .02, be the best darn dad and husband in the world as you extract yourself from the organization. Spend quality time with wife and baby boy.

by JakeM2012 ina few of my pet peeves were:.

Was Your Leaving The Witnesses A Very Gradual Process Or A Quick One?
by minimus infor me, it took many years.. even when i would read all the changes over the years from the "truth", i still would ignore it and "wait on jehovah" and try to be a positive force in the congregation.. eventually, i just couldn't take it anymore and resigned as an elder, and slowly but surely made my fade.. what about you?
were you out, in a short or longer time?

I wanted to add, even though I didn't leave until 2001, the 1995 thing was HUGE to me. I started actually paying attention to crap. I started using a NJB instead of the NWT, brought it to all the meetings and started reading all the scriptures in context. I started questioning the elder friends about inconsistencies. I sat next to the BS conductor with my big NJB rolling my eyes during my last Daniel book study.
But I would have defended to death it was still the truth. Until I snapped one day and I was done.
